Seriously? Not a Philly cheesesteak. Not like Jims or Genos or Pats. Meat wasn't rib eye they use sirloin IMHO makes it a totally different animal. And the white American cheese pretty drowned all flavor out the cheesesteak. Â Should've asked if they had provolone but I seriously doubted they had it. Â Had the house special cheesesteak and luckily I asked for the house sauce on the side. Â It was a ranch hot sauce concoction that I'm sure other people would like and maybe I would - just please not on my cheesesteak. The bread was close to the Amoroso standard - so they got that right at least. But if you're expecting a true Philly cheesesteak like the ones you'd get on South street or south 9th - this ain't it.
Review Source:This spot makes one heck of a cheesesteak! I don't consider myself a cheesesteak connoisseur, but I have been to a lot of places around town and Chester's can hold its own.
They have a variety of cheesesteaks, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. I usually stick with the traditional cheesesteak with steak, onions, and cheese. The regular size will be more than enough to satisfy your hunger, but if you're feeling extra ravenous they have a large.
The spot looks a little divey from the outside, but you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. On the inside the place is spacious, clean and inviting. The lady at the counter will greet you with a smile and a friendly hello. Say hello back, have a glance a the menu, order, and wait patiently for the deliciousness to arrive.
If you're in the area and have a hankering for a cheesesteak, Chester's is a great choice.
