I stayed in Portland last week and was excited to see a Chevys down the street from my hotel. I use to go to them in California and loved it. I gotta say I was very dissapointed.

The hostess sat us at a very rickiddy table, then made a rude comment when we moved. We ordered drinks as soon as we sat down, but they didn't arrive until we were half way through our meal. Our waiter was standoffish. The food was ok, but lacked the Chevys taste that I enjoy. I wouldn't go come back.

I go to Chevy's when they have coupons. The grilled items with a coupon are a pretty good deal. The other menu items are just so-so. Better food and same prices as Original Taco House and The Acapulco. Homemade chips and salsa are better, too. For a chain restaurant, I think it's alright.

Chevy's always has great food and good customer service.  Their chips and salsa are awesome and they make their tortillas right there so they are hot and fresh.

I love the chips and salsa at Chevy's so much. I could eat this twice a week for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy, sadly there are no more Chevy's in Washington where I live. The last one closed suddenly a few months ago, causing me to go into a near panic. I did convince my boyfriend to make a special stop on our recent trip to Oregon, turns out we'd already been to this location, guess that shows how much I love Chevy's. We tried some new bowls which weren't available last time we ate here. Decent, but the chips and salsa reign supreme. I wish I had thought to order some to go. I should also have ordered something that came with the fresh tortillas as those are also a fav of mine. The bar area had an upstairs that looked intriguing and it was happy hour on a friday afternoon. Drinks and the made your way gaucamole are also highly recommended.

I ordered the fajita salad with grilled chicken.  The salad was underwhelming.  The greens didn't look fresh, the dressing tasted like it's been pre-made or purchased and the chicken was cold.  This place is okay if you are gathering for drinks or happy hour but with so many other places with better quality, I would recommend spending a little more and hit a local restaurant with better quality like Por Que No! Or Nuestra Cocina.

I come from California where there is a Chevy's in almost every city.  My parents were visiting and we decided on Chevy's versus Red Robin for something familiar but different.  WHY DID WE DO THAT???

I ordered chicken wings and a small chopped salad for lunch.  Also ordered a Watermelon Margarita.  HORRIBLE!  The wings were either over cooked or reheated.  They were dry and hard.  The salad was fresh but I wanted the vinegarette and the woman brought me this salsa based dressing that was bland.  The Margarita was so weak I had to order a lemonade!  My Mom's chicken tortilla soup had a vegetable broth base and was totally flavorless.

Chevy's is a chain and the food is consistent from Cali to NYC, except in Happy Valley!  I will NEVER eat here again!  And I like Chevys...

The best salsa I've ever had.  Ever.

I'm signed up for the e-club and I regularly get good discounts and coupons, and it makes eating here an inexpensive affair for my 4 person family.  The steak and/or carnitas fajitas are my favorite, and the kids menu is awesome.  Service is usually great, but I have had the occasional grump of a waitress.

Overall, my favorite place for Mexican.  The free chips and salsa is impossible to beat!

Chevy's is Chevy's.  The food is decent and the staff is AWESOME, but semi weak drinks and prices keep climbing.

Chevy's can take 10 different ingredients and turn them into 100 different meals that all look and taste different.  The menu scientists really know how to homogenize their portions.  I like this place because I have always kind of liked chain Mexican restaurants.  Not saying any mom and pop place is bad.  This is just my preference.  So at least when you see a Chevy's and need some food you know what to expect.  You get a fairly priced meal with large portions.  And all you can eat chips and salsa.  Hell, there are times I fill up on chips and salsa before the meal actually gets to the table.  And that salsa is really good.  One bonus was on fathers day I got a free tub-O-salsa.

I went there in my Army uniform for lunch and I got 50% off the meal.

    ***Third Edit***
I was contacted by a customer service rep about my previous review stating that you were required to be in uniform to get the discount.  I was informed that you no longer need to be in uniform.  So when I went back in I got the discount with just my military ID....BUT...The discount is now only 20%.  I was pretty disappointed with the discount going from an awesome 50% off to a weak 20% off.   Half price for being in the Military is really stands out to me.  They used to be the biggest discount in town.  Now...Just average.

I just added a star for service. My original experience still stands, "Weak drinks and mediocre food. But the hot tortilla chips are delicious. This is more of a place to bring a children's birthday party." yet I believe that any restaurant which monitors social media sites and responds to negative reviews is on an upward trend. Is Chevy's fantastic? Not from my experience. Yet since they seem competent enough to actually listen to the customer base and find out what they could be doing better I believe they may improve. It will be difficult though, a large chain like this, especially in the ethnic foods arena, faces a lot of negative pre-conceptions. Yet I will be returning one of these days to give them another chance. I certainly hope they prove my initial experience wrong.

So what's up with that birthday special when you can't take advantage of it on your birthday because you need to wait a MONTH for it to activate?!  That was the biggest turn off, right off the bat. But in the end the manager decided to honor the birthday special, since indeed it was my husband's birthday that very day and we even showed him his ID. The food was great and the portions were pretty large for two people. We'll probably go back, once we leave behind the birthday incident.

Chips, Salsa and drinks are the only good things here.
    And the service is nice.

But the chicken tasted old and terrible.
The refried beans were average at best.
    Rice had zero taste.
    Tamales were bland.

    Very average chow.

We were in on 4/22 after a nice day at Multnomah Falls: first & best impression left was by our server Allexia, a very upbeat, personable, lovely young lady who did an excellent job!!!

I inquired if epazote was still being added to the black beans(it had been added at the Nevada restaurant we used to visit): she didn't know what it was, of which a lot of people don't & once I explained to her it was an herb that helps cut flatulence, she was good enough to go in the cocina & ask.  The response was (a pleasant) no: understandable, as is hard to find & can be somewhat expensive (we grow our own).
Hubby & I ordered fajitas, carne(steak) for him & camarones (shrimp) for me, both with black beans.  The first bite of frijoles(beans) was good, the second bite I detected the spice cumin, the third bite of black beans was all I could handle: the cumin had become overwhelming, so I did not finish the beans.

The chips had some sort of issue going on too: some parts of some of the chips were overly hard & chewy.  Hubby said they had not been cooked correctly.

Otherwise, the rest of the food was GREAT!!

Hubby tried a mango lemonade: WOWEE sweet!  And I don't mean that in a good way, unfortunately. TOO MUCH SYRUP!  Chevy's, save yourself some $ & ease up on the syrup in the drinks, especially in these days of diabetes & obesity being at epidemic levels.  It's easier to add more if a customer requests, but if too much is added to begin with, the whole drink could go to waste.

It would be nice to have real fruit added when in season rather than sugary syrup.

    But still, I'm a fan!! :-)

Chain restaurants are a mixed bag because some can really knock it out of the park, while others languish from poor management. The Chevy's in Clackamas knocks it out of the park!

First off I've spent many years going to Chevy's. I'm a FAN. When I lived in Sacramento I'd either eat at Howe Avenue, or at my all-time favorite location on the American River. But this isn't about location, because let's face it, Clackamas can't compete with California weather. ;-)  Or maybe it can make you forget about the weather outside...

We visited this Chevy's on a cold, rainy Sunday. We headed to the cantina and found a fun little table in the corner. Before we could sit the bartender immediately came over and enthusiastically asked us how we were doing, and what we'd like to drink. Margaritas we answered. A few minutes later we had a hot basket of chips, awesome salsa and two very cold and delicious margaritas. He also offered table-side guacamole. Awesome! We were in no hurry, so we took our time before ordering entrees, but once ordered our food came out fast and it came out hot. And tasty too!

We'd had a great meal and we were about to walk out the front door when my date detoured to the restroom. The manager and a few employees were at the front host/hostess stand, so while I waited they asked me how everything was. I told them great, but I was wondering if they'd be willing to do me a little favor. I quickly told them and they were instantly into it. About 5 minutes later my date emerged from the restroom, and when she did 4 employees and the manager were waiting for her. They surrounded her, plopped a Chevy's sombrero on her head and started singing her the happy happy birthday song. My date was taken completely by surprise and really enjoyed it. And so did everyone working there. Fun stuff! Not bad for her first visit to a Chevy's.

Now, how about they PLEASE open a Chevy's in Lake Union of Seattle, Tukwila or Bellevue!?!

Wow. This place was over priced, dirty, and the service was lousy. $3 for coffee that never got refilled. Meals are served on ridiculously large platters to make it look bigger because they have to justify the price. And for the record, I have no problem with conservative portions that are huge on flavor, but this put the blah in bland. Guess that's what we get for eating at a chain by a mall, but we're traveling and didn't want to stray too far. Overall, very disappointing. One extra star, though, because the salsa and tortillas were good.

i usually only go for their happy hour. love the food and the drinks, which they make them the best.
they could update their furniture a bit, since it's starting to fall apart. the staff is very friendly, there is only one manager there which is not that great. the smaller guy... when he runs the show you know there is chaos there. the salsa is soooooooooooooo good. chevis prides themselves that they don't have canned stuff in the kitchen and we have been offered to tour the kitchen at almost anytime we want to. i may take them up on that one day just to see. overall i like going there.

Ick... I used to kind of like this place, only for the green spicy salsa with anaheim chilies. This place is ick... and they stopped serving the good salsa, so now everything is flavorless and worse than that, icky. It all has a bitter flavor.

Fajitas come with potatoes and carrots... No thanks? and aside from some crab enchilada I got one time when my parents wanted to go here, everything I've had is disgusting. The drinks are tasty, but have like no alcohol. My husband made grossed out faces while eating and refused to take the leftovers home.

I have been going in here for more than ten years now and have seen every transformation they can throw out there. It used to be a solid 4 or 5 star place.

I have been there three times in the last 5 months or so and every time I go in, something is different about them. This time, the menu was shrunk way down. That's cool, if they can do the menu WELL. It looks like they are focusing on fajitas now.

I know a few months ago it seemed to be seafood. My sister was looking for Queso and chips, she was out visiting from Kentucky, where they are not graced with Chevy's but it's our thing when she comes to visit. They do not have queso and chips, and since she was there only for their salsa and chips, she ordered their hot wings, which surprisingly are good and not Mexican-y at all. This could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it.  I liked them because they weren't taste bud ripping off hot.

I got the nacho appetizer to split with her, when she did decide she really did mean Mexican food and not run of the mill hot wings. I did the chicken and steak, we got 8 very large chips on a plate covered in thick refried beans, cheese and meat. They were pretty good. She also got a margarita and said they were really good.

Service was great this day, but other days you wonder if your server drove home to get your napkins and bring them back. It never used to be like that a few years ago.

    I can't beleive I haven't reviewed this.

Chevy's is my old High School haunt. The BF and I would come here at least 2-3 times a week. Mainly because we use to order our own entreee (not on the menu) and it was so cheap. Oh, and free chips and salsa.

    So here it is.
    Side of Beans .99
    Side of rice .99
    Side of Sour cream .99
    Side of Mexican butter FREE
    Homemade flour tortialla FREE
    Salsa Free.

Put it all together yourself plus unliminted chips and salsa = $2.97.

Yeah, we were cheap little bastards back then.

Now I order the grown up version of the same thing. Basically, I also order Guacamole, and a Granda Margarita. I think my drink was $2.00 for some reason. The "AT YOUR TABLE'' Guacamole was $3.50. They make it fresh for you right there, plus you get to pick mild, med or spicy. Go with spicy, it's awesome.

Total bill  $18.47. Still better than anything else on the menu.

I still love Chevy's. I just wish the BF was still in the USA to have it with me.

Sister shared free birthday lunch. Received free entree coupon via email. Service started out great. Heard we were sharing meal, brought two plates with two packs of warm tortillas without us asking. No service after food was brought out. Wondering if because using free birthday entree coupon??? No birthday song. Fajitas delicious.

This is soley based on their happy hour! Because you can't beat $3 margaritas (an extra 25 cents for the seasonal fruit one) and 50% off their appetizers. And you don't get a happy hour sized appetizer, it's full on the normal one you get. So when I ordered their nachos grande, they were not kidding on the grande. My friend had to assist me on that one.

The service is OK, though we sort of had to help our waitress remember happy hour went till 7, and how many drinks we had.

Other specials are some of their beers are $3, house wine is $3.

Oh yes, and I love their free chips & salsa.

Had dinner there last night and the server was terrific, both my wife and I found our dinners to be quite tasty and the drinks were not watered down.  The atmosphere is good too.

The parking is not so desirable as they share an all too small lot with Red Robin and both restaurants attract their fair share of business... Had to park across the street - glad it wasn't raining!

This wasn't our first visit here, but its my first yelp review for the place.  We are consistently pleased when we dine here.

When I saw YeLPer Jen K's Chevys review, I had to re-think my experience,  I usually agree with her.  But, I actually had a great dinner here.  It may have helped that I was here before the big dinner rush, the place was about 2/3s full, maybe less.

To be sure, this is a big ole chain restaurant. In fact, after going bankrupt a while back, Chevys was acquired by Real Mex Restaurants, Inc., the Long Beach, California-based parent company of El Torito Restaurants and Acapulco Mexican Restaurants. Because of that, Real Mex Restaurants became the largest operator of full-service, Mexican restaurants in the United States. So the company is mega huge. One thing about the name of the restaurant,  there's no apostrophe in Chevys.

I was working in this area and needed food fast, if you can get past the corporate thing, my dinner and service was great.

I ordered a build your own combo with 2 cheese enchiladas, a beef taco, beans, rice, a corn meal thingie, chips, salsa and a Pepsi.  $14.00 minus tip.

The cheese enchiladas were excellent, so was the taco, rice and beans. Very friendly, warm and quick service.

So, at least for my visit, it was great!

Having worked at this very establishment for a total of 5 years, I'd like to keep positive thoughts about the place as a whole. However, my thoughts while sitting there were more like "wow, I really hate this place. I don't know how I didn't realize how much I hated it for so long."
For the most part, I like the food. There are some menu items I enjoy that I have not found elsewhere or been able to reciprocate in my own kitchen. But when you go to a restaurant and the food quality is inconsistent, good food is simply not enough for me to return.
We visited this afternoon and I'm pretty sure it was the end of our server's shift when we arrived. She was clearly unhappy to see us seated in her section. Her greeting was a very blunt "Can I get you something to drink?" Literally not even a "hello." A few minutes later, she came back, dropped off the drinks and said "Can I take your order?" We weren't ready, so of course she waited a very long time to come back and approached us with "Are you ready for me now?" Such a bitch, really!!
Next, it took an entire 20 minutes to receive our food. The restaurant was absolutely not busy but the employees certainly were. Not busy working, but busy socializing, including the manager. Having worked in customer service for many years myself, I am very understanding about slow service when they are actually busy, but when they are socializing right in front of me and we are starving, getting through our second basket of chips, it really is not acceptable.
Our food had clearly been sitting under a heating lamp for too long. My son's nachos were really gross and dry. When I worked there, we used to joke that Taco Bell food is better than Chevys, but after our experience today I honestly don't think we were joking!
We finally were served our food by a second server. There was never a greeting from her, either. I don't know, maybe I just appear unapproachable? Has never been a problem before but these servers sure didn't seem to like us.
After a whole hour sitting at this place, the server finally decided to drop off our check, and the bill came to $29 and some change. I gave her 2 $20 bills, as I had no smaller bills. I think as a server it should be common sense that if someone pays you in big bills it's because they don't have smaller bills. So numb nuts comes back with my change, a $10 bill! DUH. Remember, I did not have small bills to pay with, so how am I going to tip now, with this $10? Maybe she really was dense enough to expect me to leave a $10 tip on a $30 bill after receiving terrible service?? And I wasn't about to ask her to break the $10 bill because considering all else, that likely would have cost me another 10 minutes of wasted time.
There was a time when I used to care enough to try to talk to the manager and explain the situation so maybe they could work on improvement, but this disaster of an establishment is beyond saving. I simply put my $10 back in my wallet (I almost ALWAYS tip well, so it has to be extremely bad for me to stiff a server) and made my exit, with no intention to ever return!

Nasty corporate food blah blah blah...  Don't really need to explain why this food is terrible and will give you a whopper of a stomach ache.  It's like Chilis, Applebee's, Spaghetti Factory, and the like...  places that flank a mall, every plate's at least 1,000 calories, and they get to charge fifteen bucks for super disgusting fajitas and whatnot.

BUT, will say, an enthusiastic extra star for our service there recently for a huge group of people all doing their part to check off every item on an unofficial list of Things Servers Hate to Deal With.  Not paying attention, not listening and being wildly confused at the ordering process despite having had menus to look at for 20 min, changing seats 5-6 times, sending things back, asking moronic questions, making requests to change orders after they'd already been put in, etc and so forth.  Normally I am so mortified when people do this, I usually have to remove myself.  But our server the other night did not miss a beat, was super nice about everything, and we got food on the table very quickly (once finally ordered, after the poor guy asked about 10 times), last minute changes and all.  Really sorry about that, guy.  But $700 bill later, I hope that tip made up for the headaches.

I'd prefer to never eat a bite of food from Chevy's again, but if I had to book a dinner for that big of a group and was confined to a one-mile radius of Clackamas Town Center, at least I'd feel ok knowing they can, and will - with a smile, take care of us.

You know, I'm surprised at all the bad reviews!  I never found this place BAD....in fact I really liked it!  The previous times we came that is.  We came here yesterday to take mom out for lunch.  My mother absolutely LOVES the Tortilla soup they make.  So that right there was a plus....to see mom happy that is.

This time we requested to eat outside being that it was 75 degrees outside. Our table was set up rather quickly and were seated right away.  Our waitress came up to ask about drinks or apps.  OF COURSE....The waitress had to say to my daughter, "Ohhhh  You got ink on your nose!"  WOW...AGAIN!?!?!  My wife replied, "Nooo That's a hemangioma she was born with."  AWESOME....Now here's that awkward silence part......................Ok....Now that's over my wife's debating on asking the girl if that's ink or a hickey on the side of her neck....but she refrained.

We ordered drinks....My mom loved the raspberry strawberry margarita, and our cadillac margaritas my wife and I got were So-So.  Kinda heavy on the mix IMO.

Normally I order a steak or chicken fajita burrito.  Comes out on a sizzling platter which keeps the food hot and over all it's good for effect.  But for some reason they didn't serve it the way they normally did.  Which irked me for some off the wall reason?  Dunno....I got the feeling of laziness lurking around.

We had a guy mix up some guacamole at our table side.  It's normally close to 9 bucks, but on Sundays it's only $3.  I would not get it any other day simply because it's a VERY small amount.  that much for $3 is great!  But for 9?  I would snap.   The guy making our guac was a douche too.  No conversation, No asking how we were doing, no eye contact...Nothing.  He simply asked, medium, mild or hot and nothing more.  15 min later another girl was making guac for a table and she was VERY kind, asking the customers how chunky they wanted their guacamole, the spiciness, etc....that shows your service really depends on who you get.  It's not that I wanna talk to everyone that comes to our table...CUZ I DONT....but when you're making something for us and we're waiting for you to leave.....a little friendly conversation would help the time and awkwardness pass by.

Also, I realized I dont like the outside dinning there.  Think about this!  Should a restaurant have outdoor seating by the front door?  What could be the possible draw backs? Well, when a SMOKER is done with his/her food, where do they go to smoke?  OUT FRONT!  My wife got up and told a guy we're trying to eat and are ready to get sick from his cigarette smoke.  He was cool enough to put it out and go back in, but 15 min later another person was out lighting up.   In my opinion if you have outdoor seating, you should put it in a location that is away from customers smoking out front.

A year ago I might have gave them 5 stars, but yesterdays experience just wasn't what it used to be.  I would've gave them 2 stars, but mom LOVES the tortilla soup....so i guess I gotta give credit there.

There are few chains that I really like and Chevy's is one of them.  That doesn't mean I stay away from chain restaurants, it just means I don't really like them when I do go.  I haven't had a good experience at Chevy's in quite some time though.  This was probably the best I've had in a long time, but my order was wrong in two ways so that didn't make for the best experience.  The tortilla was also a bit stale even though they were making fresh ones.  And if anyone at Chevy's is reading this for some reason, what's with the weird, out of place 'fresh vegetables' that have been substituted for other things in some of your classic dishes??  It doesn't work with the rest of the meal.

Aside from getting the order wrong, the waitress was good.  The only other really bad thing was being surrounded by families with children.  That's what happens at chain restaurants though.  Oh well.  I'll definitely be going back always hoping for the Chevy's experience I remember from the days of yore . . . you know, two years ago.

I love their Happy Hour Margaritas!

Chevys is a great place to eat Happy Hour because their menu selection is great & their Margaritas are dirt cheap! I usually go here with my girlfriends and we go to town w/their HH menu. Its a great place to socialize and drink your heart out to fruity chill drinks & domestic beers!

I think they make great Margaritas, its doesn't have too much alcohol & if you want more you can always ask for a double shot. The bar service there is fast and the food is decent. I don't expect exceptional food at happy hour time, but i do expect lower prices on alcohol and food, which they got. Most places either have one or the other & not both so i'm a happy camper when i go here. I pretty much can get full (for two), for less than $20 & that said a lot.

I really love their fish tacos and flautas. I can't really say much about the rest of the menu, because i always order the same thing each time. Seriously, if it works for you, why change it? I do enjoy watching their tortillas come out of the tortilla machine, i think its great that its made fresh daily. Their salsa is yummy! It taste fresh and not like canned salsa, which i completely detest. Their corn chips is light and crisp & you can get an unlimited supply of it. Their salsa comes in several different kinds of level of hotness, you just gotta ask your server if you want something spicer & they'll provide it for you. Its suppose to be Tex-Mexican food here, but i really don't know the difference. I'm not a huge fan of enchiladas or fajitas so i can't judge that. If i want a burrito i rather go to a dive Mexican restaurant for it cuz they make it authentic & its a lot cheaper. Their dinner/lunch menu isn't cheap so for all you cheapo I would stay away from here if you're looking for cheap Mexican food. However, come here if you're looking for cheap HH!

Overall, its a great place for Happy Hour and I'm always pleased to see my bill. =)

If my family goes out for dinner, they go on the cheap-cheap (guess where I get the cheap bitch in me? yup, it's genetic).

That means: (a) if we get Chinese food at our favorite joint, the 'rents have two (count 'em: TWO) Entertainment cards to use, and (b) if we do anything beside Chinese food, it's a happy hour.

Now, Portland is rife with fantastic happy hours, which is one of the only ways I could ever afford to feast at places like Andina and Serratto and Springwater Grill and lots of other normally super-spendy places.

But if my family is paying for said happy hour, they prefer to go to chains like Stanfords. Or Chevy's.

    I don't get it either.

But I guess I've done worse for free food.

I spent the entire day hearing Mom, Dad, and Sis drone on and on about these super-fantastic flautas on the HH menu. Apparently their HH deal is like $3 margs and half-off LIMITED (read: three or four options) apps. Not super extensive.

So I order flautas, expecting something delicious with dollops of sour cream and guac and then some beans and rice. You know--what you'd expect from a nast chain Tex-Mex place. What do I get? Crispy shell, spicy chicken, and--and here's the kicker--PINEAPPLE "salsa." Okay. Okay. I love pineapple as much as the next person. I mean, to the point where I'll order a pizza and have only pineapple as the topping because I don't like Canadian bacon. BUT...I do NOT like to be surprised by pineapple, and I feel like it's happened to me way too often, and the offender is always a crappy Mexican restaurant.

    WHY???!?!

But it doesn't stop there. No, no. My poor flautas had no beans. No rice. No sour cream. No guac. What do I get to dip these hacked rollups in? SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE. Oh god, did I have a mini-fit at the table. Ewwwughhh!

I mean, at least the chips and salsa were solid. The $3 marg was on the sweet side, but it did pack a mini-punch. And the service was fine. So I would feel really guilty for giving Chevy's one star. Their food kind of deserves it, though. slfjsojofiewf BLURGHHHH!!

Happy hour at Chevy's is amazing. $3 drinks and appetizers. Seriously, you can't beat a $6 meal!  Unlike other restaurants during happy hour, their appetizers are the same size as if you were to buy it at full price. And, they're huge...I'm not even exaggerating. My personal favorite is the plate of crispy chicken flautas - they manage to hit the spot every time! Plus, their margaritas are big and very, very strong. Heck yes.

Eh. Nothing to write home about. My boyfriend really likes this place so we've been a few times. I'm not impressed. The other night we were there and had to ask several times for our drinks and water AND napkins.

I noticed some people who ordered after us received their food first...Weird. Then the waitress came to the table and said she forgot to put our food order in. Ok....She was nice enough to comp the entrees for us, but still...We sat there waiting for awhile wondering where our food was. Oh, and then she forgot that we wanted another round of drinks.

We split an order of fajitas and honestly it wasn't anything special. Hardly any seasoning or sauce. Just really bland. The tortillas were pretty cold after we ate our first one. Not impressed!

We ate here a couple of times and it was marginal at best! Then, tried it at lunch and 2 of the 4 of us got soooo SICK! This place serves the worst mexican (if that is what you call it!) food around.

GO somewhere else and spend your money...This chain is not worth it!

What I won't do for friends...

Friends who suggest we meet up at Chevy's.  Not that there are a lot of other stellar options in the Clackamas area, but I am not a fan.

My lunch, chicken quesadillas, was meh. So uninspired that I didn't even bother taking the remaining portion home. Service was OK, but included long-ish delays to order and receive our food and there was a little mix up on the bill. The parking at this location is horrible. We had to park in a bank lot across the way and dodge traffic (and a parking ticket).

My friends are keepers; Chevy's is not.

Shopping in Clackamas is always a struggle because there are more chain restaurants than anything else.  Such a bummer but my husband likes going to chains so I figured why not give Chevy's a try.  I remember going to Chevy's a few times in Los Angeles and for some reason remembered liking the veggie quesadilla.

I ordered the farmers market quesadilla but asked them to hold off on the cream sauce that it came with and asked them to substitute mango jalapeno salsa instead along with a side of black beans.  It seemed to me that the veggies were vastly lacking in portion to the amounts of cheese that were in it.  It was strange, it almost had no taste and the veggies were all chopped up so finely you couldn't really taste them.  The mango salsa was really fantastic though, I loved that.  The black beans were not that great either, they pretty much just opened a can of them and then put them in a bowl.  They didn't even rinse all the gunk off of them so, they were just really salty.

Paul on the other hand....liked his meal.  He didn't love it by any means but he certainly liked it more than I did.  He got this dish that had four different items on it and he seemed to enjoy it.  I think it had a chicken taco, a chicken burrito, a chicken enchilada, and a beef or steak burrito maybe.  They were all smaller though, not the usual giant sizes that they have.

It was just not all that great.  They must have changed the recipe or something because it was so much better the last time I ordered that quesadilla.  Anyway, I guess some folks love it because it is usually crowded in there...it is just not for me.

Rating a corporate chain like Chevy's is not always easy.  Sometimes chains suck and some of them are remotely decent.  This Chevy's on the other hand is relatively decent compared to other Chevy's I've been to in the past, but also relatively mediocre compared to the more authentic joints in Portland.  Ultimately coming here is either out of convenience or based on one's mood to stick with the easy stuff.

Prices are not back breaking, but certainly not a bargain.  The service has been pretty good here around lunch time and keeps Clackamites coming back for more.  Parking is solid and the decor is very Chevy's.  I can't see myself coming here often, but there is always room for an occasional bite.

I don't even care what you say, Chevy's is good!  Especially for a chain restaurant.  We've been here twice just stopping in after shopping, and have received some great service.  Drinks and chip basket always stayed full, food came out quick and hot (and delicious), and I always felt taken care of.
