Chipotle Mexican Grill: Gourmet Burritos and Tacos

I went to Chipotle the other night for dinner with some friends and was very pleased with the overall experience of the restaurant. I ordered a burrito bowl with white rice, black beans, chicken, sour cream, lettuce, cheese and guacamole. Seeing as I frequent Chipotle, due to its convenient location on Kirkwood, the burrito bowl I order is very familiar to me and basically the same one I get every single time, which I believe says a lot about the quality of the ingredients and food if I can eat it that often and not be unsatisfied! The ingredients are noticeably fresh and that is also confirmed by the fact that you can actually watch them replace the different bins of toppings on a regular basis. The burrito bowls are a very hefty portion and definitely worth the about $8 they are priced at, depending on if you get add-on toppings. The restaurant is set up in a "buffet style" as you walk down a counter and tell the Chipotle employee the toppings you want to add on your burrito, bowl, or taco. The servers are always friendly and responsive to requests and the cashiers are prompt and efficient. Overall, Chipotle is a very clean and inviting restaurant, and although it can get a little loud around typical meal times, a pleasing environment. Definitely a favorite quick meal option for me and my friends!
VEGAN REVIEW
... not because you need to know that this is THE place our house looks for in times of road-trip fast-food cravings...
... not because you don't already know that the black beans and tortillas are veg-friendly but the pintos have pork...
... and not because you already don't know that the guac is fresh and that you can get as many types of salsa as you want...
... and not just because you can still get a fresh lemon wedge to go in your beverage...
... just to remind you that this is a cheap place downtown where you can go and sit outside to watch the world go by and eat essential amino acids in appropriate combinations if you are a vegan. Â You can even bring your omnis, too, and they will be content.
I love this place! Their oversized burritos are the best. It also has a great vegetarian option. I get the burrito stuffed with black beans, peppers/onions, brown rice, cheese, lettuce, and hot sauce. The hot sauce is perfect. Not smoldering hot, but definitely has the perfect amount of spice.
I wish they grilled the burritos...sigh. But overall a great place to grab lunch. Especially if you want something quick! =)
Oh and delivery...seriously needs it.
I've been to many Chipotles before, and this one compares really well. The lines are longer since it's right off a huge campus, so expect some lines during lunch/dinner. Still, it's pretty quick on getting your food. Really no problems unless they have to cook their chicken/steak, which takes 5-10 minutes at least. Only bad part might be is that their tables/floors remain messy for a while before anyone wipes them down.
Otherwise, this Chipotle's portion size is much larger than other ones I've been to. Big plus since you can end up saving a meal for later. Notched down one for its uncleanliness.
Great location and it provides an amazing service which is food that is relatively affordable, nutritious, fast, pretty tasty, and uses quality ingredients (including some that are local!). Unfortunately the down side to this Chipotle is that most of the employees are some of the rudest people I've encountered in food service. The cashiers are generally very friendly but the kids preparing the food are cold and very unwelcoming.
Review Source:I don't normally review chains, but for Chipotle I'll make an exception. Â To update a previous reviewer, McDonalds no longer owns Chipotle. Â They found that their corporate cultures just didn't mesh very well. Â And it's easy to see why. Â I mean both restaurants strive for fast food, but Chipotle provides high quality ingredients like naturally raised meat, organic veggies, and hormone free dairy. Â They even try to source locally whenever possible. Â It's not the cheapest burrito you'll ever get, but it's mighty tasty, and mighty filling. Â The barbocoa is nice and spicy, and the steak flavorful. Â Also try the cheese quesadilla which isn't on the menu but is easily ordered. Â Only complaint is that sometimes the employees overstuff the burritos making their structural integrity shaky at best (grab lots of napkins).
Oh, and love their Iphone app. Â Order on your phone and just pick up the goodness.
Chipotle is a welcomed addition to Kirkwood avenue. There food is excellent, and the price is appropriate for what you get. One burrito is more than enough for a meal, and so easy and convenient to stop in and get. The location is ideal, the porch is nice on sunny days, I have nothing negative to say about Chipotle.
Review Source:It's rare for me to like a national chain (let alone one owned by McDonalds Corp.), but Chipotle, with it's oversized burritos made with  quality ingredients, just taste great. Plus, the excellent location on Kirkwood Avenue really helps the Bloomington location.
Don't get me wrong, the place is nothing special or unique, but if you want convenient, consistent, quick food, it's not a bad option.
Tip: If you want to bypass the somewhat long lines that can form around dinner, try pre-ordering online and picking it up instore.
