The location of Falafels is great. It is right on Kirkwood, in front of a parking lot so parking is convenient.
Our waiter served us pita to start with. It was a little burnt but it came with this butter like sauce which was unique but very tasty. I ordered the Gyro Greek style sandwich. I did not know what to expect because I had never eaten at Falafels before but it was amazing! The pita was thick and warm and the lamb and beef inside of it was so tender and mouth watering. The tzatiki sauce was flavored to perfection and went really well with the gyro. I also ordered seasoned fries on the size which were crispy the way I like them with a good amount of salt and garlic. These fries complimented the gyro well.
Falafels had great pricing. The gyro and fries together was about 10 dollars. I found this to be completely reasonable.
Our waiter approached us with a smile and made sure we were satisfied with the service. She also helped me with what to order, because I had never been there before and was not sure what to order. She told me that the Gyro was the most popular dish there so I went with that and it was great! The food came a little slow, but they also cooked our meals fresh so I was not disappointed.
The restaurant was very quiet, it would make the restaurant more welcoming and enjoyable if they had music playing or the television on. It was also a Tuesday night so it could possibly be not as quiet if it were a night over the weekend. The restaurant smelled divine the moment I walked in. It was a clean environment, not as crowded as I would expect, but it was nice to be seated right away.
Best gyro in Bloomington. Tzatziki sauce is spot on, gyro meat was fresh and well seasoned.
Food came a little slow, but it was a busy evening (a couple of huge take out orders happened just before we came in) and the server filled our glasses constantly. Bill came a little slow, but again it was a busy Friday night.
Loved the atmosphere, loved the food. The pita served in the beginning was a little charred, but it had character to it so I liked it.
I'll come again when craving a gyro. I will try the falafel sometime and the shwarma looked good too!
This place is excellent! There are a lot of good gyros in Bloomington, but I think Falafels has the best.
I ordered mine with feta and it came with there seasoned fries, which are also very good. The gyro isn't spicy, although they do have a spicy one if that's your thing. And they're very generous with their portions.
The restaurant itself is small and mildly Mediterranean in feel, and service is great. Every weekday they have a different special, which was free pita chips the day I went. The pita chips are okay. I mean its pita chips, you can't really screw those up, or make them exciting for that matter.
If you're in the mood for Mediterranean, Falafels is a great, affordable option.
