Maybe I don't know what a hipster is, BUT this bar is not hipster. When I go it  is flooded with regulars and friendly faces. Most the time they have a crowd ranging from students to older townies. Ive been going to this bar for YEARS and I've meet a ton of interesting/AMAZING people. It is a fun place to start the night but just as suitable for a night cap. Best patio in town. Nothing like drinking outside on a warm Indiana night, this is a place where memories are made. LOVE IT!
Review Source:For most of my stay in Bloomington, the Video Saloon was my go-to bar for relatively cheap pitchers of PBR, the occasional glass of whiskey, and billiards. Â I liked the ambience for the most part, so I was happy enough to keep going back. Â At some point, the house bar sprang up, and it was waaaay more in tune with what I was looking for out of a bar. Â It's not insanely loud, you can generally have a conversation without yelling, the beers are craaaaazy cheap (can't argue with PBR for a buck), and there are picnic tables out back. Â The name House Bar is perfectly fitting, because every time you go there it just ends up feeling like a really good house party. Â If the bartender is feeling nice, he might even change the tunes for you. Â If you're living in the area, you owe it to yourself to spend an evening there hunkered down with some friends and a few pitchers.
Review Source:In perfect contrast to The Rail, we have The House Bar. Â If The Rail is the high-class 30-something you pretend to be, The House Bar is the cheap and laid back 20-something you vaguely remember yourself being in college. $1 PBRs and $2 Upland Wheats. Â A blacklit bathroom, which shows you things you wish you didn't know were there. Â Picnic tables in the backyard. Â A great place to just chill with friends and throw a few back. Â Aw yeah, you really were carefree back then (not really but let's pretend).
