A group of co-workers and I stopped by for lunch. Â We had been wanting to try it for a while and finally made it in and we will definitely be back. Â
The service was quick, the food was great and the decor is pretty cool.  The menu is great.  I recommend the Patty Melt  (which comes with fries). Â
There was a decent lunch crowd, so I think the diner is starting to find a following. Â There is a lot of tradition behind the diner (The owners are family of Willie's and Sharon's Diner owners). Â I do think that they don't need to rely on their history to bring people in, just keep serving good food, fast and hot!!!
We'll be back soon!!
Located in a strip mall near the campus of IPFW, the outside of Chrome Plated Diner looks unassuming. Â However, inside the doors you see all red, black, gray, and silver. Â They have the 50's and 60's diner-style counter and chairs, with records and old product logos on the walls. Â No neon lights or a jukebox, but hey, there is still plenty of nostalgia here. Â I am positive they were playing a Little Richard song when I walked into the restaurant, and heard some great 50's and 60's tunes throughout our breakfast.
Chrome Plated Diner is a great place for breakfast or lunch. Â Their menu selections are cheap and plentiful. Â On the breakfast side, they offer omelets, skillets, a wonderful eggs benedict with sausage gravy (they also offer it with Hollandaise, but I can't resist many things with gravy), and your typical pancakes/waffle selection. Â I had their hash browns with benedict, and they were tasty and a little crisp (which is how they should be, in my little world). Â For lunch, they offer hamburgers, sandwiches, and the like, but I didn't try any of those.
Prices are very reasonable here. Â For two breakfasts with coffee, we spent less than $15 and definitely left here full. Â Their lunch prices appeared to be around the same price. Â Service was friendly and attentive. Â They also have some information on the family who owns this place, and the two other diners they own in town as well. Â It's always nice to know that I am supporting a local business owner.
For great prices, good food, and a piece of nostalgia in the Fort, I would definitely recommend this place.
