Hit the Chubby Bullfrog a few weeks ago. Three of had sammiches and we tried the FROG LEGS. They were big, tasted great. Between good service and my pulled pork sandwich I would have given this place four stars that night.
Took some more friends, stopped in for a Friday night Hawks game. Place was packed, service at the bar was only decent and the pricing wasn't great. Good hockey viewing everywhere; stayed to the end of the game. Three stars.
Went back a third time with friends for the hawks game, had bragged about the place. Well this time they served scrawny little thoughtless frog legs, only passable nacho's and a very ordinary sandwich. Pricing was nothing special, frog legs should have been sent back and the service was terrible. Two stars
I love going to new places to eat and when I heard about The Chubby Bullfrog I couldn't wait to try it. Came on a Sunday to watch the NASCAR race and have some lunch. I walked in and was sat at a hightop table right away. The place is smaller just a few tables and some seats at the bar. The bar menu is pretty standard for a bar, except they did have froglegs....I did NOT get those! I ended up ordering the cheese fries and my friend got the mozzerella sticks. The food was good, I think next time I would try a burger, they looked good. Also, they have Kareoke on Saturdays that I wouldn't mind checking out either.
A place to check out for sure if your looking for a nice bar to just hang out at.
I've been back to The Chubby Bullfrog a few times now. Â Usually a good place to stop for a beer, unless it's busy. If its busy you will wait quite some time in between visits from the server. We tried to just go up to the bar to bring back our own drinks, but that was hit and miss too if they bartender will bother to notice you. Â Pork nachos are great, but don't get the fries, always get the chips. Had a bad pork sandwich, really fatty, noted this to my server and the owner came over and admitted they were probably too busy in the kitchen when they were preparing this to notice, but did not take this off my bill. Â Also, unless there is a special, the beers are a bit $$ for this small town area. Â I'll visit again when they are not busy.
Review Source:When we walked in, you could smell the smoker for the pulled pork (definitely a plus), and we were seated right away, on a Friday night. The server was very quick, and came back a few times (we took a while looking at the menu, since it was our first time). I ended up getting the pulled pork sandwich, and the wife got the chicken fingers. The pulled pork was pretty good, and came with a TON of fries (although the fries tasted a bit undercooked, and lacked flavor). My wife's chicken fingers were pretty good (she added the buffalo sauce), but they were VERY greasy.
All in all, it seems to be a good spot to grab a beer and some food. Kind of a small place though, there is only 3 or 4 tall tables, and 5 or 6 lower tables for 4 people each. Also there is bar seating. I would consider going back, but for my money and where I'm located, I would rather go to Randall Road House any day of the week!
