Tacos La Flor

I recently saw this restaurant reviewed in the Chicago Tribune as the best in Elgin where Mexican food abounds.  Since I visit my son once a month in Elgin I called them to pinpoint their address.  In spite of knowing perfect Spanish my countrymen - as usual - did not have the faintest idea on how I could find Tacos La Flor.  They did not even know they were featured in the Chicago Tribune nor seemed to care.

Elgin has always been known nationwide as the worst designed city in the entire U.S. Mapquest has the area totally wrong insofar as routing.  Good luck to a great chauffer and if someone herein can give me a decent routing to La Flor starting at route 20 and State....Tacos are on me!!

If I would've written this review 5 years ago, hands down I would have given La Flor 5 full stars. I used to frequent this pace on at least a bi-weekly basis. Ordered food for pickup that was always ready hot and fresh, and more than enjoyed the late-night reunion with everyone I knew at 2 AM. I'd have to say that since La Flor cut their hours from being open 24 hours, down to closing at 11 or 12, not only the appeal, but the quality of the food has gone down for me. Don't get me wrong, I will still stop in for some tacos or a burrito special from time to time, but it's just not the same.

Hands down best steak tacos in Elgin.  I've eaten at many mexican restaurants in the Elgin area, and nothing compares to the way their food tastes.  Their guac is pretty amazing too.  Whenever I eat steak tacos from anywhere else, I find myself comparing them to La Flor.  There are a lot of mixed reviews, but check the place out at least once.
