Cinema Lounge

A friend new to the Old Brooklyn area wanted somewhere close to his/her house. Old Brooklyn has plenty of watering holes (especially on Memphis Ave) and I've been to Dina's one too many times. So, we randomly picked out the Cinema Lounge. The epitome of a dive bar.

No microbrews, just domestics [Bud Ice ? Yes, it's here, folks.]. As expected, I could get my (Rolling) Rocks on for $2.50 each. Dos Equis was $3. Bud and Bud Light were on draft. No food besides Doritos. Usually at a dive, no mixed drinks that require more work than pouring liquor and a mixer are done. Nothing there indicated otherwise.

The Cinema Lounge is pretty close with their customers. Lisa, the very friendly bartender, asked if it was my first time since had not recognized me and introduced herself. A dry-erase board with the patrons birthdays for the month [between this and my Facebook, Christmas-time must be a popular time to conceive], photo collages of holiday parties and celebrations on the walls lends itself to the sense of community here.

The cinema lounge lives up to its name with some carpet with little film reels on it and an Adam sandler movie on one of the TVs. The Crowd ? just people of all ages, some dressed in jeans and leather. There's fishtanks behind the bar, a few TVs, and a jukebox.

There's also one of the large bowling machines [I got Dos Equis while drinking dos equis !] and 3 pool tables.

It's a dive bar. For what it does, it does.
