We had our old company reunion here, got here early got my bar test burger (Black & Blue) and nice 22oz Labatt Blue Lt $3 prices are good but the Lime Light Bar in Warren way beats CJ's B&B Burger! Why 4 Stars...the Bar Maids & Waitstaff are some real knockouts! As you can tell by the pics!!

First time here. It seems like a cool place to watch a game. Ordered a burger and it was pretty good. Prices are reasonable.

I have been to Mahoney's a few times. It's very close to my work and it's a pretty convenient halfway point for my friend and I so we have met here for drinks a couple of times. It's definitely good for cheap drinks. Very casual and it's pretty spacious inside. I've never tried anything to eat. The bartenders are always very nice and helpful. I'd have to say my biggest complaint is the clientele. It's about a 4 to 1 male to female ratio. This might sound appealing to some girls. But attractive women proceed with caution. There are a lot of creeps here. At least that has always been my experience. If you're a cute girl I would suggest not going to Mahoney's unaccompanied by a body guard or boyfriend. You will be hit on. Sometimes it's just a few free drinks from an anonymous stranger but other times it's relentless guys whose tactics border on harassment. They don't quite know how to approach you or how to respect your wishes when you decline to give them your number.  My friend and I were the recipients of an actual "Call Me Maybe" napkin (see photo) pickup attempt. I guess I shouldn't really complain about any of this because at the very least it's free entertainment. It can be a little uncomfortable and annoying sometimes though. But I guess you can't really blame that on Mahoney's.  Over all it's a nice little place to grab a drink. Just remember girls, be wary. ;)

It's rare that any of my friends goes to CJs unless it's to continue a night out after another bar closes. Because it's open late and close to Kona Grill, we head there because we're not quite ready to go home.

CJ Mahoneys is an interesting place to people watch, NOT the place to go for a classy experience, complex cocktails, or a great selection of more than beers and mixed drinks. They have beer specials, and we often go for whatever is on special for the night. I have never eaten anything other than fries there out of sheer starvation and don't think I would eat here. The music is up-beat but there is no dancing, unless people are drunk and out of control. This is a decent place to watch a game or shoot pool if you're into that kind of thing. But I've seen better bars with a better crowd. Don't bother dressing up,  it's a casual, low-key place to grab a drink. The music is loud though, so if you're planning on great conversation, save it for someplace else.

The scantily clad girls get annoying, preferring to listen to any guy seated at your table whether or not you want a drink or have a question. It gets frustrating, they look young, and they make you slightly uncomfortable while they almost crawl ontor your table to talk to the guy who may seated next to you.

Don't go here expecting more than a beer and a place to keep your night out going without driving far.

You have to take CJ Mahoneys for what it is, a sports BAR.  For watching a game or sporting event it's great.  Nice plasmas, and lots of them! And also individual tv's inside booths.  The place is quite large too, never really have a problem finding a spot.  Service can be hit or miss.  Some nights we sit at the bar and don't need to ask for another beverage, some nights I feel like you have to sound a loud horn for them to come over.

As far as the food goes, it's your basic bar fare.   Nothing fancy, nothing special, if you expect more, go somewhere else.  They do have pretty good pizza which is what I usually get with whomever I'm with, never seems to dissappoint.

Lot's of HDTV's for the games.  Beer was cold.

Normal standard fair for todays good sports bars.

Ordered a Tavern burger.  Medium with no grilled onions, but with uncooked onions.

It came well done with grilled onions.  Cold onions on the side. I told the waitress, who was very nice.  I showed her the patty that I had cut with my knife.

She sent for another one.  This one came back again well done.

Unbelievable.  It was like cardboard.  I cut it open again and showed her.  I tried to eat it.  She took it off my bill but dollars be to doughnuts, the guy cooking is probably still employed.

Not going back.  I could teach a ten year old to make a medium hamburger.

I only recommend going here to watch games.

You don't go to a sports bar expecting gourmet food, and at CJ Mahoney's you definitely don't get gourmet food.  I had a poorly made "Southern" Chicken Sandwich accompanied with stale potato chips.   Service was nothing to brag about.

One of the better places in the Troy area to go watch games; Champs can get a little too crowded for my liking.

CJ's is alright.  For me, it's close by.  The food isn't terrible; I give it 2 stars.  I love the multiplicity of HD flat screens.  It's a good place to watch a game.  I like it, because like any self-respecting sports bar, they've got a variety of games going on thanks to the satellite TV receivers.  That way I'm not stuck wasting an afternoon watching locally televised NFL games if I'm not interested in them.  They have been nice enough to indulge my Formula 1 fetish.  They've got an okay assortment of beers, and I appreciate that I can get a nice 20oz. draft.  I'd be happier if the place were non-smoking.  That factor definitely limits the amount of time I'm willing to spend there.

Ok, I really wasn't expecting much at all given the outside of the place BUT once I got inside it was a whole different story...

The place is new so it's totally updated with nice flat screen HD TVs...ALSO loved that they have individual TVs at most of the booths too, which is always awesome if you want to watch your own thing.

Good, solid, drink prices and selection...I was pleased. Any place that has Tommy Bahama Rum gets an extra star from me!

However, the food.....the food I would give 2 stars to-it has a HUGE menu, but I wasn't even that thrilled with my nachos...chips were small and super salty and they use cheese sauce instead of shredded cheese-wtf? My friend didn't like his burger very much and I would tell by looking that the fries weren't good, another friend didn't finish her turkey pita-she didn't complain, but you kinda just knew....As far as the food-stick to the basics...they try to get fancy but I saw a pizza that looked pretty good...chicken fingers, etc. at least until they maybe get more business and up the anti on the food...

Now why 4 stars for bad food? We know I love my food...well, as I said drinks AND the crowd!!! FINALLY a place were a late 20 something such as myself doesn't feel like a 40 year old....and it's not  expensive place full of poshy Dbags or 45 year olds....it's the perfect cross between the Royal Oak and Birmingham bars....I think anyone in the "too old for Royal Oak" and "too young or too broke or don't want to dress up for most bars in Bham" range would really like it here.

Granted, it's secluded out in Troy with nothing else around it, but with a patio and a few friends, a great time will be had.
