This venue has the absolutely worst staff and security I've ever had to deal with in my life.
During the show I went to last night, I was picked up and sent crowdsurfing, which led me to falling 5-6 feet up in the air and landing straight down, plummeting and injuring my back.
Instead of being given help by security or staff at the venue, I was pushed out and told I was being a burden and received no worry or possibility of medical attention.
I went to the smoking patio with my friends so I could lay down on a bench and the people around me told others to make way to give me some room since I was seriously injured. The staff that worked there said "don't tell us what to do." They refused to give me space and argued that they don't need to make room for an injured person and they continued to yell at my friends and those who were nice enough to help us out (regular concert attendees who were concerned about my well being).
In conclusion, nobody helped us out, nobody worried about medical aid, and staff and security only harassed us and insulted my injuries. I'll never go to this venue again after having to deal with such poor staff.
Pros:
- $13 ticket on Ticketweb plus $3 fee, much better than Ticketmaster
- Great sound and lighting
- Stage is high enough that anywhere you stand, you can still see the band
- Full bar inside
Cons:
- They had most cars continue to drive down the street, past a few buildings, charged $10, and it was about a block's distance walk
- I printed my tickets, which had a barcode, and they didn't scan it, they just took it - so I could have printed a few copies and had people attend free?
Not sure if this is a Pro or Con:
The staff was not checking which shows you bought tickets for, so technically fans of either bands could go into the main room and the small room.
The smaller of the two stages at The Observatory, it's a nice little room where the best thing about it, Â is being able to see any featured artists up close. The bar has a nice selection at pretty standard prices, and there is sitting, but I'd have to say my biggest gripe about this place had to be how ridiculously hot it can get in there. Last month, I went with a few of my friends to see xKore, and all we kept mentioning to each other how much we were all sweating more than if we had been in the other, bigger room. Everywhere I would look, I'd see patrons wiping their foreheads and taking off any extra clothing in a vain effort to cool themselves. Speaking of the A.C, it must have busted that night as the right-side of the bar and room's floor became submerged in an inch of water. I didn't see anyone slip, but it was an annoyance nonetheless, splishing and splashing just to get from one end to another - I even saw a few douchebags kicking water towards the main crowd (although it was probably welcomed considering how hot it was in there). I even saw one of the bouncers throw a GYM SOCK on the puddle in an effort to dry it up.
Still had fun, though, Would avoid this room during the summer; I can;t even BEGIN to imagine how hot is going to be come June... Unless of course they finally install a newer industrial A.C unit - which they happen to be accepting donations for at the front desk, haha.
