I should have paid attention to previous reviews. My experience was good, not great, up until the time of getting my bill. We were a party of two and the waiter or someone included the tip in our final billing before I had a say on the matter. I probably would have tipped more than they billed me for but the principle of the matter is I should have a choice. Based on other reviews about the service, this may be the only option they have for actually getting tips. Needless to say, I won't be back. They don't appreciate or trust their customers. Adding the tip to my bill was a slap in the face. There are far too many great restaurants in Lafayette to waste my time and money at Copeland's.
Review Source:Nothing exciting. The service left a lot to be desired. Had to get the manager to take our order while the waiters played grab *** at the kitchen.
Don't forget that this is creole food NOT cajun. The spices are different with a lot of black pepper.
Not worth the price when you consider all the great cajun restaurants in the area.
I really don't enjoy writing two-star reviews, but Copeland's really failed. Â The menu is excellent, steak, seafood, cajun food. Â The bar is fairly well stocked, and the beer selection is ok (could be better).
To the point of the two-stars, we went on business with 11 of us. Â Why servers let service on a table of 11 business guys slip is way beyond my imagination - they're going to spend a LOT of money and tip well (I'd guess 20% automatically added [just answered my own question]). Â My dinner came out cold - I wasn't going to be an ass and send it back, but when a coworker asked how it was, I quietly mention it was cold. Â The boss overhears and stands up to go find a server. Â Really ackward, slightly embarassing and unneccessary if you can simply serve food ABOVE ROOM TEMPERATURE.
Just basically like any other Copeland's.
We normally just get the apps, the entrees are just decent to bad. Â The apps we normally get are:
- Spanish artichoke dip, which is served with bow tie fried pasta, which is decent, not overly great
- Jazzy wings, which are super huge and quite delicious if you're craving for wings
- Crawfish bread, sometimes they get it good, and sometimes they get it so bad and make it quite salty and gooey, which makes the bread soft, and isn't very textural
I had plenty of food here, which aren't even worth listing. Â This place is a franchise, and a lot of their food is inconsistent, so if you're looking for a real meal, this isn't your best option.
Went here for the first time last weekend with my dad. Service was great and timely. Atmosphere was ok, but very chain-restaurant feeling. And lots of pink. Too much pink. It took my eyes like 15 min to adjust to the dim hue of neon pink from the lights.
Food, as reviews say before, is extremely rich. I thought my food was delicious, but only ate half the plate and saved the rest for the next night. My dad didn't eat all his either, but also thought his was really good. You just can't go here too often or you might gain some pounds and cholesterol, and shorten your life span haha. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't go here at all.
I will probably be back. It's one of those places you can go to every once in a while, maybe a long while, but it's still good.
In every conceivable way a disappointment and waste of time, money and stomach acid. Â Don''t ask me why, but I had high hopes going into dinner here on Saturday night. Â I suppose it is because we are still new to the area and a little neon can still turn our heads. Â Little is actually and understatement as the interior is lit by a good amount of neon lining the ceiling as if in a subtle nod to Miami Vice. Â But I am getting off topic, back to the food...sadly. Â We started with the fried onion appetizer, which was explained to us in a way that made it appealing, however, what we got looked like someone hijacked an awesome blossom from Outback and decided to fry it again, as it was still a bit too healthy. Â In a word, horrible. Â We then decided to try a couple of their small plate offerings, both of which had lovely pictures in their 15 page menu. Â The crab ravioli was way too dense, and lifeless on the palate. Â It was akin to eating crabf dipped in mac n cheese sauce. Â Now on to the lone bright, even if bright is a 30 watt bulb, spot of the evening. Â The second small plate we sampled was sliced beef with angel hair pasta. Â It was good, not great, but good. Â However compared to of the rest of the culinary offerings it shone like the lighthouse in Pete's Dragon. Â Of course most of the credit for this particular order goes to the photographer who made it look much more ample in the menu photo. Â Another positive was out waitress, very friendly and outgoing albeit a bit absentminded as we had to ask for silverware and a few other items but I will let that slide if you are nice. Â The prices are higher than they should be, but not knock you off your chair high. Â What it comes down to is that Lafayette has too many good food options for much less money, so why waste your time here.
Review Source:pretty average food and service for the price. their crab cakes are decent, but like someone else posted, most of the stuff is a gut buster. my kids ordered the macaroni and cheese and it was utterly tasteless. they ended up eating my husband's food.
i would probably go get dinner elsewhere and then go to Copeland's for dessert.
oh...and the drink that comes in the fishbowl that says it is meant for 2 people? they mean that.
