Tampico Mexican Restaurant & Cantina

Mexican food is plentiful in Lafayette, and the fact that Tampicos has been here literally FOREVER means they are doing something right. The drinks are good, but it can get really hard to get the bartenders attention later in the evening. Also, I've had a couple really bad experiences service-wise sitting in the bar area. The food is decent, location good, and margaritas are great. My choice, however, would be La Pagua or Coyote Blues.

"Absolute Crap" ...  There are two choices to make here.   Across the Street is Coyote Blues.  You can go there and enjoy a good meal or you can go here and suffer.   The chicken tasted like it was from a can.  As did the salsa...as did the beans.  In fact, I am pretty sure the best the cooks at this place can do is open a can opener or microwave door.   I get the impression the place stays in business for its drinks rather than its food.  Its more of a bar atmosphere.  Prices were also very high for the quality of the food.  Overall, a horrible experience and a place that merits bankruptcy.  Anyone that is reviewing this place as having good food is not on the level.
