Went for breakfast and it was BAD. Small portions, salty and overall very poor food.

To much scary, dusty crap on the walls. Who wants dead people looking at you while your dining?

As we are from the West coast this was our first experience. I ordered the haddock as it's something we can't find here. It was so good I ordered it again on the next visit. Service Southern friendly. No alcohol so had the sweet tea which was nice. The place was busy so they must be doing something right. Would have liked to try some other things on the menu.

I grew up going to Cracker Barrel. they all seem to be consistant in friendliness, order accuracy, and wait times (which are short btw)

My father-in-law really wanted us to check out this restaurant for breakfast because the previous day we took him to a cafe for breakfast. Well, apparently his standards for breakfast are different to a cafe...there were no pancakes, biscuits and other tasty options at this cafe. He was headstrong that this breakfast place would rock our socks off. LOL

Well, I had no idea what a Cracker Barrel was until we drove up. I instantly fell in love with the country cottage and hearty food portions. It was a happening place for breakfast, and was packed with plenty of people eating and shopping at the country store. At first, we were confused because all you see is the "Front Porch" items for sale, but you walk in a bit and discover the restaurant and that's where the real heaven waits for you.

Looking over the menu there are plenty of selections to decide upon: made from scratch-buttermilk biscuits and saw-mill gravy, your "momma's" sourdough french toast, juicy country fried steak or chicken fried chicken, apple butter, grits, hickory smoked bacon or sausage or country ham, cheesy wonderful hashbrown casserole, and lots of coffee to wash it all down. Country eats at its best perfectly describes the food here, and portions are "Claim-Jumper' size...super-sized breakfasts for those with a hearty appetite. There is something for everyone because all of us got something different to start our day out right.

My ever growing "vacation" palate loves a hearty meal, so I went big and ordered "Grandpa's Country Breakfast" - it had 2 eggs your way, Grits, Sawmill Gravy, Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, Apple Butter, Hashbrown Casserole and Chicken Fried Chicken. My mouth is still drooling over this meal...the chicken was perfectly crispy and the creamy ooey gravy complimented the fried chicken. I wanted my chicken smothered in the gravy goodness of it all. Oh so tasty! The apple butter was the only butter you'll need for those warm and soft biscuits. I had a little bite of the grits, and if you add a little bit of sugar...it's better than oatmeal. You know what...I ate almost everything on my plate, too. I can't tell you what part was my favorite because everything was good. Everyone as well, was happily stuffed from their breakfast selections. Food coma heaven for all us.

Country cooking is definitely one of my favorite ways to eat breakfast, and this is a great place if you're hungry for something hearty and big! I wish we had Cracker Barrel in SoCal..I'd visit you more often if I could!
