Whenever the doors open, go and get a good seat! Â If you wait an hour or two, sure the crowd is rowdy and the musicians are in 'Rock your Socks' mode, but you probably will have a seat in the back area where you can't really see past the row of people in front of you.
Though, once the pianos are going and the drinks are flowing, you won't even care. Â These players are amazing too. Â The one guy got up and grabbed his fiddle, jumped up on the piano and started playing along with 'Devil went to georgia"
Later, the same guy wailed on a keytar! Â The guys were very entertaining, the bartenders friendly and the atmosphere, amazing!
I will go to Croc Rocks every single time I go down to Myrtle Beach!
I've been to a few piano bars all around the world, and this one ranks pretty high up there.
My wife and I had the pleasure of being there for a musician's last night at the bar and they definitely cut loose, enjoyed themselves that night, and brought us all along for the ride.
The place started out thin but picked up quite a bit; even on a cool February night. The wait staff was attentive but slow -- the drinks were good, affordable and the music was fantastic.
We will definitely make this a regular visit during our Myrtle excursions and eagerly look forward to getting back there in the near future.
This was so much fun! Â
$10 cover, I went on Saturday 11/10. Â It was pretty quite at first, but picked up quite a lot by the end of the night. Â And apparently local Myrtle Beach residents pay no cover!
The amount of music they know is remarkable! Â The drinks were strong too, with servers throughout the floor.
I would recommend this over and over, it was the most fun I had in my 5 days in Myrtle Beach.
This is a go-to place if you are not sure what to do. Always a party here. Staff is friendly enough and the piano guys seem to know every song imaginable. They add humor and the audience, so if you don't have a good time - its your own fault!
I gave it 4 stars because the place could use a good scrubbing, and drinks seems to be under poured.
By far the best dueling piano bar I have attended in the country.. I have Been to ones in San Fran, Long Beach,Scottsdale, Dallas, Indy and Baltimore just to name a few.. Great crowd involvement good singers good bartenders and wait staff... Always a favorite when I head to Myrtle Beach!!! It is a must go to..
Review Source:Everything is boring around town because it is off season? Â
Not a chance at this place. Â When places were either closed early or dead from the off season, this place really rocked. Â On a weekday, cover was $5 and on the weekend cover was $10. Â Don't let the cover get you down. Â The place is a lot of fun. Â
There are two people playing the piano at all times and you basically write your request on a napkin and slip them a few bucks to play your song. Â You best tip $5 or more or your song may not be played. Â There are two levels with plenty of tables on the first floor. Â Saying this, you still need to get there early enough on the weekends to grab a table because the place gets packed fast and the tables get grabbed quick. Â I would say it would be a better experience to be able to grab a table and relax. Â
There are waitresses that come around to the tables to get your drinks. Â They were all very nice and even though the place was packed, our drinks kept coming quickly. Â The service may have been very good for us because we tipped her very well every time she brought our drinks. Â I would advise this. Â The place gets packed.
If your looking to hook up with someone, this may not be the place for you. Â This is more of a fun place to go with a group of friends. Â The live music is non stop. Â This place really is a money pit though. Â If you look below at the review by "Jeffrey A.", he explains it very well. Â It's exactly like he wrote. Â When we were there the one weekday, all they did was play the American anthem and the Canadian anthem. Â Every time someone gave more money to the one country, they would start singing that countries anthem. Â More then $1000 later in less than one hour, the Canadians won. Â I guess? Â Although I love America, I am also not stupid enough to get sucked into a money pit song.
Bring friends, get a table, avoid the tourist money pit songs, and you will all have a great time!
So. Much. Fun. My husband and I went here last summer and had a blast. The dueling pianists were doing North vs. South. Totally fabulous! At the end of the night the bartender mixed up some crazy concoction for everyone to take outside.
Can't wait to dump my brats off on my mother...I mean get a babysitter and go again!
The dueling piano bar is lots of fun. The drinks are pretty bad and the bouncers are horrible, terrible people. I was harassed on my last visit because they didn't like the look of my ID. For the record, I am FORTY!!! They were rude and inconsiderate.
Once we got in the place, drama surrounding my ID aside, I found the piano numbers enjoyable. The place is filthy and smoky, which you can expect in most bars in South Carolina. I needed my inhaler afterwards.
I'll go with friends if they're dying to visit, but I'd never visit this place, with its unconscionable jerks for bouncers, on my own again.
The most entertaining place in Myrtle Beach without a doubt.
I grew up in the area and had always heard amazing things and finally went for the first time this summer.
There are two pianists who take donations to sing requests. Sometimes they do duels to see who will donate the most money to win (college fight songs, North v South, etc) Sometimes people will get called up on stage to celebrate something and will ultimately have to dance to something ridiculous. A lot of songs end up having a line changed to be a little raunchy. The later in the evening it gets the raunchier it gets.
Absolutely love this place. I make an effort every time I visit home to go.
Went here with my wife and sister last year and had a blast. If you're a non-resident there is a cover charge, but if you live here you get in free, I think. Basically a dueling piano bar where you sit and drink and send in your song requests to two guys who will sing it for you. It's a lot of fun and a great way to spend a night.
Review Source:Dueling piano bars are typically fun no matter what city you are in. Â If you have never been to one, it's basically an interactive form of evening entertainment. Â They have two piano players at the bar, and they take donations to sing requests. Â They will also have fun contests- for example, the night we were there, they were trying to see what college's fans would donate the most money. Â Then they would play the fight song of whatever college was in the lead. Â My alma mater, Michigan, was the winner that night so it was fun to see my fight song being blasted in a Myrtle Beach bar.
You get a pretty good mix of genres too. Â They played rock, country, pop, and even hip hop. Â The place was packed by 9 pm so get there early. Â It's a very popular bachelorette party spot too. Â Standard cover is $10 but you can pay $20 to get a reserved seat (must call in advance).
Dueling pianos I discovered in Reno NV... and it was always our first starting place... when I found out there was one when I moved here I was ecstatic. Â However, this was much different, much BIGGER, and they play different "piano" games... cause of the rivalries (such as north and south) and include sometimes a drummer... Â The down side is it costs $10 to get in unless you have a SC ID. Â Well even though I have lived here for 6 months, it is not permanent and so ultimately always had to pay. Â I still love this place though and it is worth the money for some major fun (if you like to sing along and people watch). Â It's pretty crowded so I would say get there early if you want a seat!!
Review Source:Loud, dive-ish, and dirty...Perfect. Â Oh yeah, there are pianos, too, and the players are fantastic. Â Each hangs at the piano for a few songs, then jumps around to other instruments, and eventually will switch out with a new team if you stick around long enough. Â Off season there's no cover, in season, I think it's a bit pricey (but there are coupons everywhere). Â Beer and the fried appetizers are your best bets, and every once in awhile the servers come around with shooters and jello shots. Â Don't come too early- let the party get started before you make the stop- but don't come too late- you won't get a seat. Best to go down to Broadway at the Beach and check out the crowd and grab a bite elsewhere, then start the end of a long evening here! Good to have a few pops before you get here as well- makes the over the top excitement of the performers a bit more bearable, and you may just find yourself jumping up to do "the carwash oh, oh, oh", or all the sudden sing along with "she's a brick.....hoouuse".
Review Source:I was lucky enough to go to the redneck riviera for business and smart enough to make the trip more about pleasure. It's been three years since I first encountered Crocodile Rocks but such a memorable experience, I couldn't help but to Yelp it now. Hopefully it hasn't changed much because it was perfect back then. This dueling piano bar is a blast! Althogh very crowded it never seemed like we had to wait long to drink (of course, this is Myrtle Beach) and the dueling piano artists (yes, they were artists) were fantastic! We were purposely trying to write down songs we thought would be incredibly hysterical to hear them attempt and they didn't disappoint. We loved the North vs. South dual especially - as I'm sure they do, too. Each night we witnessed it, it was an inevitable goldmine, but also highly entertaining. The games they played for birthdays, bachelor/bachelorette parties were all fantastic, too. Although not engaged at the time, I vowed to return here for my bachelorette party. It never did come to fruition but did start a love affair w/ dueling piano bars.
