Fantastic! The burgers are great and so are the baked goods. It's a little pricey but this is truly one of those places where you get high quality food for a little bit more. They usually have nice beers as well. The interior is awesome, and my only complaint is that they aren't open very late. A hidden gem!
Review Source:I met a fancy friend here for lunch last week, at her recommendation. Â Loved it- reminded me of the casual, upscale places that cater to "ladies that lunch" that I occasionally frequented in Atlanta.
The decor was a mix of industrial and home-y, with some upholstered seating next to tables/chairs taking a cue from Ikea. Â Lots of gift-y items around the restaurant- baby clothes, aprons, soaps and candles, artisan pottery, fancy chocolates. Â Although the menu was a little vague, my "chicken sandwich on cibatta" was very unique, including pesto and sliced green apples, served by Ms. Cyd herself. The sweet potato fries were fresh and crispy, making me and my daughter happy. Â
We just had time for a quick meal, so I can't comment on too many dishes...but I absolutely plan to return, even just for the coffee bar and amazing-looking bakery section (think homemade pop tarts, seasonal rice krispie treats, scones, breads, muffins, biscotti...) My friend went on and on about some weekly specials she had in the past, as well as an amazing wedding and Mother's Day meal. Definitely my new place to meet a friend for lunch!
Soo many choices! This place is great there is so much to look at when you are there. It is great on a winter day with a warm sandwich with their fire place on or on a summer day sitting outside. I think they are open limited hours but a perfect place for lunch. I have yet to try their desserts but they look amazing!
Review Source:Mmmm I wish I lived in Peoria so I could come here every day! Â We went to Cyd's for a wedding rehearsal dinner so got to try a wide variety of Cyd's food. Â Cyd was so sweet and attentive making sure that everyone got enough food and liked everything. Â The chicken lasagne was amazing and she had great salad, with delicious cheeses, breads, meat and olives as appetizers. Â By far the best part of the meal however was her dessert. Â It was this amazing spiced cheesecake with caramel! Â yummm! Â Cant' wait to go back to Peoria to try Cyd's delicious food again!
Review Source:To counterbalance my somewhat negative review of the service at Cyd's I posted in 2009, I'll post this one about the food. Â Cyd's food is certainly unparalleled in Central Illinois and could also compete with similar establishments in larger cities. Â Her fresh salads (particularly the amazingly delicious grain salad based on a foundation of quinoa) are amazing, and her baked goods are otherworldly. Â The service is also improving, little by little. Â I suppose it's hard to be diligent in that area when you essentially have no competition. Â So I'll take one star off for sometimes not-that-thoughtful service, but give rave reviews for decor, food, innovation, presentation, freshness and variety.
Review Source:I adore Cyd's and Cyd herself is pretty nice too. Â The same cannot be said of some of the employees, however. Â The food tends to make up for it, though. Â Many of the gourmet treats are unique and won't be found anywhere else in Peoria.
From kombucha to interesting beers, the diverse drink selection rounds out the culinary offerings nicely.
Unfortunately, they've recently begun adding a surcharge to take-away items if you plan to eat them there.
Cyd's has never disappointed me, and I have been a loyal customer for almost a decade. They are definitely the go to gourmet caterer in the area - I still remember how great the food was when they catered my high school graduation party. :)
Each time I visit Peoria I have to order my favorite meal ever: a Turkey Havarti sandwich, Caesar pasta salad and a sugar cookie. Then I'll pick out a mixture of the chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and their famous "chocolate chubbies" to bring back to my office because my coworkers keep requesting them. Â
I haven't had a chance to check out Cyd's new location in Junction City, but I was happy to hear that they have expanded and have even started offering monthly cooking classes. Now if only they'd only open a shop in Chicago.
