This place just changed ownership and names about 2 months ago. Â Came here for something new... What we got was slow service, a smart arse waitress and food that was purchased at Walmart. Â
To start we were not greeted by anyone which left us wondering do we wait or sit. Â Finally a customer told us, 3 min later, that we could sit anywhere. Â We sat and waited for another 5 min before someone brought us menus.
The menus were an adventure by themselves. Â They attempted to put all the things they offer over pictures of swamps and alligators. Â I found it hard to find anything because the pictures were distracting from the items.
I ordered the burger and fries as well as the fried cheese. Â I'll start with the cheese sticks which I was told by the waitress were hand made. Â When they were brought out I found that the were hand made and larger than those in other places but the cheese was dipped in what is my best guess hush puppy batter. Â They were ok but not anything earth shattering.
Now the burger and fries. Â Both were Walmart products... The burger was over done and bland the fries tasted like fish and had that "crust" that Burger King puts on their fries. Â I told my wife that they tasted like fish and she tried them and agreed. Â The waitress said that the fries are NOT made in the same oil as the fish, rudely. Â My wife and I both looked at her and just let it go.
My Wife ordered an omelette with white toast and hash browns. Â She said the omelette was good but the hash browns were cold and the toast was cold and wheat. Â We asked for the toast to be replaced.... After waiting yet another 15min we canceled the toast completely. Â
The waitress came over and said sorry for the wait... I told her it was REALLY unreasonable wait times for EVERYTHING. Â She explained that it was hard to service all the people in the place when it was so busy. Â Did I point out there were 3 wait staff, 1 manager and only 11 tables, 2 6 tops and the rest were 4 tops, in the place AND the most I ever saw seated in the place was the 2 6 tops and 5 4 tops. Â
Anyway... At the end of it all the Manager did come out and offer my wife 15% off then decided that it was better to take off the cheese sticks and said he would see what was going on in the kitchen.
All in all I would suggest avoiding this place if they have more than 3 tables filled and even at that be prepared to wait. Â I don't know how the seafood is but hope it's better than the Walmart burgers.
My first visit here must have been beginner's luck. Â Four of us went again last weekend. Â
The good news is that I asked for my hash browns fluffed and crispy -- not smashed. Â They had no problem with that. Â It took two tries to get the crispy part right (when they come out the color of vanilla ice cream, the heat definitely is not hot enough), but once that was fixed, they were great!
A little disappointing is that the on-the-ball awesome servers who were there the first time, were not working the floor this time. Â The server we had was nice and she was clearly trying, but she seemed a little overwhelmed. Â Maybe she was a beginner. Â I hate it when it seems like we have to remind the server of what we still need to complete the order. Â
It kinda sucked that in asking for my omelette well done/cooked through (no watery slimy omelette for me please) meant that it came out with a burned egg flavor. Â Oh well. Â Oh, and if you like sour cream on your veggie omelette, you'll have to bring your own. Â
Finally, what was more than a little disappointing was that the pancakes that I raved about after the first visit didn't exist for me this visit. Â They were undercooked, not a hint of golden brownness to be seen, no crispy edges, and were barely warm to the touch. Â Those people sitting over there though -- theirs were perfect! Â
I'll still go back (with my fingers crossed that the good pancake maker is there when I do).
