Danny's Celtic Pub

Great food and service. I would give them 5 stars if they had Celtic music more often. The local Celtic community needs more venues for our very talented performers, and I was really hoping Danny's would help us out. They only have Celtic bands on rare occasions, which has been very disappointing to those of us in the community. PLEASE make Danny's a truly Celtic club -- more of your clientele might really come to love our music if they heard it more often. Go raibh maith agat! (Thank you!)

Started to go in...ours senses were assaulted with the smokey stench permeating the entry...went to twisted root instead.

If you are looking for a place to drink this is fine. However, I have a beef with this place. I've been wanting to try it for a few months, but negative reviews kept me away. I'm not a smoker, and there are too many reviews stating that the smoke is overwhelming. Today I was outvoted by friends wanting to try something new. The smoke is overwhelming, but the patio was open so we sat there. The patio is not non-smoking, as one reviewer pointed out. My friend ordered a Miller Lite since it was $2. I had read on their website that domestics were $2 on Wednesdays and imports were $3. The only domestics they had were light beers, so I opted for an import. When the bill came I was charged $4.25. When I questioned the waitress (and showed her the DANNY'S CELTIC PUB OFFICIAL webpage) she flustered a bit and said "that's a little misleading. It's actually after 8pm that they are $3." So I said "but the website says Happy Hour is from 2p-8p and on Wednesday's $4.25 for imports." To which she replied "we're trying to correct t that."   I posted something on their facebook site. The reply was appaling... "Danny's Celtic Pub: On our flyer it says daily happy hour from 12-8pm $2 wells and $2 domestic drafts. The $3 import draft special starts at 8pm. As posted on our flyer. Thank you!?" I don't know what 'flyer' they reference. I never saw a flyer. But, when you own an establishment that offers a specific price on your official website you need to honor it, or at least apologize for the error. They made no attempt at either.
That pretty much sets me off this place. You need to honor your prices.

As far as food... Eh. We got fried mushrooms and potato skins. The fried mushrooms were fine, no complains there. The potato skins were NOT warm and the bacon was way over cooked. I wouldn't look for this as a place to eat, but as far as bar food is concerned it isn't inedible. I would prefer Flip's or some other place to sit and eat and drink withy friends after work.

The wait staff, eh- again. She was a bit slow and let's not forget the fact that she didn't even offer to check on honoring the happy hour special listed on the official web page. I give it 2 stars, no more no less. You'd have to buy my beer to get me to go here. They won't get my money again. Too many places in the HEB-Grapevine area to go to with far more stellar food and service to choose from.
