Decent local dive bar and decent food. Â Would be great if they had draft beer and not so many blinding neon beer signs. Â I mean, what kind of bar doesn't have beer on tap? Â Bars make a killing on draft beer yet this place only has bottles.
The karaoke is fun (if you can actually get a chance to sing.)
The 'band' that is there on Saturday nights is laughable (but I guess it works for this place.)
Agreed about the smoke, you'll likely come out smelling like an ash tray. Â But even though I don't smoke, I kind of like the places where it's still allowed ever since the big cities started banning it, it's like a flashback to simpler time when people didn't care about their lungs and the nanny state backed off from telling us to stop killing ourselves! Or something.
We did not eat anything, we came for the karaoke.  I really like how low pressure the karaoke situation is, the stage is sorta tucked back and the music is really pumped up so if you have a horrible singing voice (like me) it's not as likely to make everyone's ears bleed.  They have a sorta small elevated dance floor  with bar stools all around, sorta like a strip club but no pole.  The karaoke mics are wireless so you can go out on to the dance floor to sing, which my fella did.  He sang Let It Bleed while we danced and made fools of ourselves, good times. Also, their little song look-up station is great, it's a computer you can just type keywords into and then you jot down the song info and hand it the DJ- nifty! Â
Seems like there are a lot of regulars and it took a while to get your turn to sing even on a Sunday night in a rainstorm but I liked the vibe, not the least bit pretentious and a nice mix of songs. Â Lots of dancing too- I really hadn't intended to do the Wobble or the running man in front of a bar of strangers last night but these things apparently happen at Vino's.
