We came here for a kids birthday party yesterday. The food is not the greatest but you're not really there for the food. Our waitress did a great job of dealing with our table of pre-teen ladies which was wonderfully relaxing for the adults.
Drinks were decent but pricey.
Not as large as the Providence location but many of the same games. I was really disappointed by the customer service in the game room. I had to tell one of the techs (?) that a game was broken and he barely acknowledged me. When I asked if I could get a free play since it broke in the middle of my last one, he was argumentative about it then slid his card and walked away. I found that frustrating. Especially because I don't really want to fight about a video game. Makes me not want to come back.
Most importantly, the kids all had a good time and the adults had a decent time as well. Good place for a birthday party.
Dave & Buster's in Braintree is Awesome!
If you're looking for great entertainment for your birthday party or team builder event, this is the place to do it. The location is huge, clean, several event rooms, new technology arcade games, friendly staff and professional management. The food was absolutely delicious with a great variety to choose from. The appearance of the event room was decorated very nicely and the buffet table had a great presentation. Look for Gillian the Event Coordinator, she was excellent to work with and was very helpful with providing details, follow up and had excellent customer service. Our event host Devan, she was very patient, friendly, and also had excellent customer service. The Assistant GM - Mark was very professional, friendly had excellent customer service and was easy to work with and very thorough with communication of event details.
Overall, my team and I had an outstanding experience and several commented on how they would be returning back with their families and friends to have more fun. The professional and friendly staff made the experience outstanding and I'm looking forward to our next team event at this Braintree location.
I definitely recommend Dave and Buster's to others as a great place to host a special event.
Based on the multitude of recent reviews here from early 2013, it doesn't shock me one bit of how horrific this place is. Â It's a damn shame 0 stars isn't an option because this place unequivocally deserves it. Â
My buddy is kicked out on his girlfriend's birthday because his license was expired, even though he had another Mass ID that clearly displayed his birthday (which happen to be the same day; he's 26, believe it or not, he wasn't trying to pull a fast one!). Â This was AFTER he was let in originally displaying the same ID that he was then expelled for having. Â Comical.
The same bouncer (who somewhat resembled mediocre NBA big man Chris Kaman) then later on accused him of stealing a wristband. Â Ok wristbands, to monitor who is 21 and who isn't? Â Hey 1998 called, they want their drinking regulations back!
Furthermore the waiter screwed up our bill a bunch of times and didn't give us the right amount of game cards we ordered. Â
How much more could this night be f'd up? Â We had a bunch of people there, a table reserved, my buddy's girlfriend's birthday and everything was ruined. Â I mean come on, it's a Dave & Buster's, everyone is there for fun, and THIS happens? Â This is INEXCUSABLE. Â A despicable display by everyone involved at the place.
The bouncer told my friend later on they wouldn't let me back in if he came with his passport. Â Well Mr. Bouncer, I'd like to tell you on his behalf: he wouldn't comeback here at gunpoint to waste his time with you or his passport. Â Go flex your "Dave & Â Buster bouncer muscles" with some other schmo who you confusedly think cares about you or your job.
I highly suggest anyone reading this doesn't give them any business either. Â Thanks for ruining my trip to Boston.
The worst manager ever! Very rude and condescending. Â I witnessed him harassing a woman taking pictures and accusing her of "illegally" filming the arcade. Â She was there with a group of adults having a good time until then. She explained that it was her anniversary and wanted to scrapbook the memories. Â Immediately before this incident, we heard the manager say to another guest who was slightly complaining about the filthy table and the 35 minute wait for drinks "...assistant general manager and that if you are not happy with your service you are more than welcomed to leave." Â That family did leave and we should have also. Â I have never been in a establishment where customers were so not valued. Â I will never ever go to another Dave and Busters After reading the reviews I am certain that this company has little regard for its clientele. Â Ironically this manager reminds me of the same manager at the Dave and Busters in Pittsburgh when we were there in 2004. Â He had the same disposition and arrogance about him. Â Hmmmm?
Review Source:I love arcade games. And hence I love D&B. It was great (unhealthy) food, and large drinks to go. I am a fan of their margaritas--the giant ones of course. It does close a bit early, but I suppose it is more family oriented. It's difficult to get here with public transit--you really need a car. We had to do a combination of T and taxi to get there. This D&B has all the typical games: whack-a-mole, DDR, table hockey, shooting games, racing games, basketball, etc. Definitely a great place for a fun night out or a birthday party.
Review Source:I am rescinding my previous review, giving it 5 stars. Â This place gets 1, only because 0 isn't an option. Â I walk in, get the awesome sticky bracelet put on me, and have a seat at a table near the bar with my friend. Â 30 minutes. Â Not a single look. Â Half of the bar was reserved for someone who apparently was going to be taking 8 seats after 9pm on a Sunday night. Â The standby cop looked like he was about to doze off from the 8th dunk on Sportscenter. Â Oh, and the Father of the Year showed up and lifted his daughter up, who looked no older than 5, to sit at the bar. Â Also, they got noticed and even a menu. Â And last time I checked a 5 year old can't sit at a bar and reach for things. Â Maybe that's just me. Â She didn't have a bracelet on. Â I walked out pissed and went to Uno's next door (which I just reviewed). Â I'm so glad that Braintree let the whole Dave and Buster's thing happen, you know, since there isn't a single light on the in the parking lot, but they got the liquor license anyways. Â Just great.
Let's just say the whole "let's try that places food" was the worst idea of 2013. Â I'm sticking with either 99 or the Varsity Club for late sunday food from now on since D&B is now on my shit-list.
Haven't had a worse night out in all my years! Took us 20+ minutes to be asked for our drink order and another 20+ to receive them. I got a $10 (!) Â Patron margarita that tasted like it was a virgin margarita and was extremely small for the price. Everyone at our table complained about the watered down quality of the extremely overpriced drinks. The food took forever and came cold and of poor quality. Just salt salt and more salt. The waitress would stand at 1/2 our table and take orders and then leave without asking the rest of us. Bathrooms had no soap and no paper towels and were filthy and smelly (this was early in the evening too!).
You are constantly hassled about your ID and there are police everywhere which makes you wonder about problems they've have in the past? What arcade needs 7+ cops??? You HAVE TO use their "Power Cards" and it's a $2.00 activation fee and more waiting in line to get your card. The line for the popular games like ski ball and air hockey were ridiculous. I went to buy a friend a round of drinks and they wouldn't serve us until she came to the bar, presented her ID (what are the bracelets for then??) and proved she wasn't "overly intoxicated." Then, after spending over $80 on food, drinks, games a bouncer hassled my date about his ID which has a bend in it and kicked him out! They would barely let him find me to let me know he had to leave! We asked to speak to a manager who was very very rude. Even if we had not had to leave I would have given this place zero stars. Go support a local bowling alley/arcade or local restaurant, this is a terrible establishment and they don't care about their customers. Please save yourself the time and money and don't even bother with this trashy place!
Overall its really not that bad you just need to know what to expect. Ive been here several times, only once for food though. The food was pretty good. I got the avocado turkey BLT there was a serious lack of avocado on the sandwich but the bacon more than made up for it. The sangria was also very tasty.
The games are fun, kind of pricey, but you buy your tokens onto a card then you can reuse them when you come back. There are a lot of kids here, unless you are there after 10pm, then people under 21 have to leave, and that is enforced.
It is kind of annoying how many times they card you. They card you at the door and give you a bracelet if you are over 21, but then when we sat down to eat and ordered drinks they carded us again, and at the bar to get another drink while playing games they carded me both times I was up there. I dont understand the point of the bracelet if you are going to continue to card me.
They do have a eat and play deal during the week so for like $20 you get your meal plus 100 game credits.
Lots of games lots of fun. NO GOOD FOR YOUR WALLET!! Â I can blow $150 in 1 hour playing games with 0 alcohol. I don't typically drink when I come here because the drinks are just way to expensive and I don't eat because the food is lower quality. I only come here if I am in the area but I only live a few miles away and I never want to go in that area.
Review Source:Don't love it, but definitely don't hate it either. there is a sort of weird vibe about this place.
Came here on a sunday afternoon, sat at the bar, had some drinks. The hawaiian mai tai put me on my ass after 2 glasses. My bf got a jack and ginger and I definitely saw the bartender put in a splash of coke into it...both times he ordered it!!! how weird! is that because their jack daniels is diluted? or is their g-ale not the right color? not sure, but i've been bartending for years and have never done that to someone's drink.
moving right along, the service is decent. didn't try the food, but it didn't look too healthy or appetizing.
the game room section was crowded, with lots of kids running around, but i'm sure that's different at night.
lots of games to play and things to do. if you're a kid at heart like me, you would spend hours there.
the giant photobooth is kind of awkward, but pretty hilarious.
at the end of it all, the boy won me a stuffed animal, so i left pretty happy.
I finally found a place that is good as old school acrade  "GoodTimes in Somerville".  LoL i dont know why ppl complain this place is dirty? Maybe those ppl never went to acrade in old time... it suppose be like that.
This place is for everyone range from 6+. Be prepare a lot of kids when you go around 3-8pm (weekend).. Well what you going to expect when kids having fun with their games.
They have a bar with variety of beers/mixed drinks etc. Foods are like regular bars but with little bit more variation or upscale foods. I dont know about price because it seem reasonably.
I take out 1 star because it doesn't have Pool .
Well, it's definitely unique! In a...dirty...noisy kind of way.
The noise level is just...through the roof. Overstimulation everywhere, and just...wow. I had never been to a place like this before; my closest comparison would probably be The Charlie Horse on steroids, and oh man, is it on something. As you walk in, you have to know what you want to do, because there is NOTHING helping you out. Â We had never been there before, and just kind of wandering around didn't help any. I walked to what I thought was the service desk and asked, and got kind of a snooty response stating that the bar was self serve, I could go to the OTHER desk and wait to be seated, or go right to the gaming area.
Well, we wanted dinner, so we went to the other desk, and waited a good while to be seated. We finally got there, and from here the service was at least fast. I ordered a simple plate of chicken tenders and fries, and the presentation was just really surprising for the environment. The fries came in a pail with just a touch of salt, which is a nice comparison to the places that just bathe their food in it. Though they were super pushy about the game cards, and tacking them onto the bill; that really can get out of hand fast when payment time comes. The menus, as others have said, were filthy, and everything had this weird greasy feel to it.
The game room was fine; tons of games and never really having to wait made for a great nightcap to end the night. I was excited to try some of them that I had found, and there was enough variety that the time went by so fast. If you're not 21 though, be warned, they just outright kick you out if you're not 21 after 9? 10? I forget, but bouncers fan out everywhere.
After that? Our time got much worse. When the ~21 crowd left and the booze started to flow, people just started getting belligerent, and it was just...I guess not nearly as exciting as it had been even half an hour ago. It turned almost into a casino setting: no clocks, no windows, loud music, loud people, a weird grimy feeling on the carpet....
The food was great; I would definitely come back to eat, and especially game. Maybe my second visit won't be as marred as my first since I'll actually know how to help myself to the various stations and areas, but man, does this place have a while to go before it's anything nice.
I wish I could give this place no stars!
My boyfriend and I went to D&B this weekend (Sat night) around 5 oclock to meet up with friends and celebrate birthdays. Â Before anyone else arrived he and I went to the bar. Â Atmosphere at the bar was fun and we both ordered drinks - mine was amazing, the banana split.
Friends got there a little after and he and i had already put in our name for a table. Â They gave us a buzzer - it never buzzed.. Good things our friends heard them calling our name as they walked thru the door!
We sat down - waiter came over about 10 mins later. Â Didn't intro his name, he did welcome us. Â But, after that he was complaining that he was a bartender and that they were low on staff then he proceeded to say "I hope you guys aren't splitting the bill 5 different ways". Â Oh okay buddy sorry to INCONVENIENCE you.
He took our drink orders, bc i just had a drink at the bar I ordered a sprite. Â Took the kid at least 15 or 20 mins to come back with our drinks... he forgot my sprite and said "ill get that to you right away". Â Finally took our dinner order.
Dinner comes probably 35-40 mins later, he never brought my sprite. They also didn't bring one of our friend's dinners and didnt even care when i brought it up. Â
In the meantime, our friends had already gone up to the bar to get the next round of drinks seeing that we clearly weren't being waited on by anyone.
We all waited for our friends meal to come before we touched ours - took another 20 mins. Â Finally it arrived and we ate, I got the bbq chick - just OK. Â Obvi it was cold at that point, plus we were all just annoyed. Â I had asked for a manger in the meantime to complain as well. Â In the middle of eating, ANOTHER PERSON brings over our friends meal - no communication, no nothing, TWO different ppl put in his order... IDIOTS.
Finally around 7:30.. yes we sat down around 5:15. We went to go play. Â I'm not too into gaming so I bought the cheapest amount with the bonus $12 and it was enough for me. Â There was a good variety of games but not enough. Â We left around 10 or so and let me tell you there were still a MILLION kids there. Â I didn't appreciate all the kids and how crowded it was, but we went on a saturday, should i have expected anything different?
Honestly the food was mediocre and the service sucked.... The restaurant had tables that no one was cleaning off, the arcade needed to be cleaned and vaccumed asap. Â Sounds like the one in Providence is Foxwoods (clean big and fun) and the one in Braintree (dirty, crowded, trashy) is Twin Rivers.... I won't be returning.
Love this place- it's a bit pricy for the games but the service and food are good (*apperizers are generously sized- pretzel bites are AMAZING and nachos highly reccommended. Â Main course selection is good- but could definitely use a bit of a spruce up in my opinion) I will definitely return/ reccomend. Â
Best opportunity to make easy tickets is in the coin sliding games!- Â but the most fun games are DanceDanceRevolution, the racing game near DDR, and PACMAN! Â (With 4 players it's the BEST) Â Buy at least $25 game card to get your fill of games
My menu was absolutely filthy and I had to ask for a new one as well as wet wipes to clean my hand. Ick. Â But then we ordered and the food was pretty good. Â I had a Pretzel Covered Hot Dog app and the Philly Steak and Cheese, both of which I liked, though the hot dogs were salty. Â 22 oz draft Stellas were $7.50 which is OK. Â
I played some games and won some bullshit tickets which I gave to my brother so he could afford some coffee mugs that say D & B on them. Â His wife will be psyched. Â
If there's dude who's totally into Dance Revolution you can have a chuckle at his expense. Â And I saw someone win a stuffed animal from the Big Claw which I assumed was impossible. Â Anyway, this place is kind of fun.
I'm not reviewing just the food, I'm reviewing my entire experience here.
This place is Chuckie Cheese for adults! Since most of us are grown up now, you should replace that pizza with some cocktails. I've been a few times, spent probably too much money... and I have over 10,000 tickets saved on that card. What the hell am I going to get? Speaking of, you should sign up for that card. I'm constantly getting coupons in my inbox.
I haven't ventured much into the food. The burgers are decent for a chain. The drinks on the other hand, well I'm a "casual" drinker... That being said, the drinks could always be a little bit stronger... maybe I just need to make a friend, or find an AA meeting?
For a good time, check this place out. It can get a bit pricy, but Wednesday nights are half price games. So, if you wanna save some dollars, check it out wednesday. Oh, rugrats get kicked out at 10!
Go for the games, not the food. Â
The entrees were extremely salty, I could barely eat half of the dishes we ordered, however, server was super nice, helpful, attentive, and let us put up with our large group of people well. Â
The arcade itself has a plethora of games you can play, ranging from things like deal or no deal, skeeball, car racing, to fruit ninja! Â Make sure you bring your ID as this place is only open to adults after 10p. Â The place wasnt overly crowded for a Saturday evening; it was no problem finding variously games to play.
Solid night out. Â Went here on a weekend night, can't remember if it was friday or saturday... but it was fun. Â Dinner was reasonably priced and it wasn't super crowded.
I wish it was more clear if there were pool tables or not. Â But there were video games... i got to play DDR (i did alright). Â Also dominated at air hockey. Â
I get distracted by the cyclone, where you have to stop the blinking light in the jackpot bulb to get 400+ tickets. Â Â The crane game was a shame. Â It was super fun to be completely awful at the basketball games.
I was a little bummed there wasn't a time crisis shooting game. Â It's my favorite.
I went to this D&B for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised by multiple things. First of all, I expected the environment to be dirty, smelly, shady, etc. However, it was surprisingly clean and upbeat and put me in a good mood. Also surprising was the food. I was expecting so-so to decent food, maybe 2 1/2 to 3 star quality, but the food was 4 star quality. I did the eat and play deal (so my meal only cost $4) and two others in our party did too, so it only cost $12 to feed three of us. Amazing! I had the legendary goldfingers, which came with fries. The batter was a little bit too soft, but the chicken was cooked right and despite being soft the batter was tasty. The fries were also good, with a little bit of a spicy kick to them.
Of course, the main purpose for our party going to D&B was the arcade. The arcade is huge, and it has a lot of games that you won't see anywhere else. Standouts in our visit included QuadAir (4-way air hockey which was really exciting), gigantic electronic Connect Four, a basketball machine which is HUGE (and you get to shoot 10-15 extra balls at the end!), and the skee ball (classic).
The prizes were kiddie, but more grown-up than, say, Chuck-E-Cheese's.
All in all, this D&B really surprised me and I will be back many times!
After 3 visits and a company outing at this D&B, I have to say I love it. I love games, I love booze, and D&B is the place where adults can get their fill of Pac Man and Mai Tais at the same time. I think the food here is good, I really enjoy the grilled steak salad and the build your own tacos.
A group of friends came for my birthday and we got a table with great service no problem. They even brought me a sundae with candles to blow out. At our corporate event, team competition was set up on games like trivia, basketball and skee ball.
The games can be expensive, but they are FUN. D&B is a unique experience, shut up and enjoy it! Have some booze and shoot some zombies! Spin that big wheel to win enough tickets to get a giant banana!
Enjoyed a birthday party here, but more for the game-time over the food time. Â I did not reserve the table, but we were sat with no problem. Â There were about 13 of us, and we had a nice table with a view of the TV to watch the Olympics.
Our server was nice, but a slight airhead. Â We all ordered drinks (my skinny marg. was a good price and also delicious) My brother ordered a soda, and it literally took one hour to get him his drink. Â At first he was told that it was because they were changing the machine, understandable, but after he asked two more times he FINALLY got it. Â I was expecting the server to take the soda off the bill for the long wait, but all he said was, sorry.
My veggie burger was good, price also good. Â I wish they had more vegetarian and fish options. The broccoli cheese soup was delicious and the sweet potato fries were pretty good. Â They were thin and well done, which made me quite happy.
We also had a good number of people use the $20 for $40 worth of points, to open a card account. Â Unfortunately they also had to pay the $2 to open the card. Â Luckily, I already had a card so I just had to pay the $20. Â Definitely get this deal if you are eating. Â Absolutely worth it.
Prices for food, okay. Â Lots of great games. Â I will definitely go back. Â It is a little larger than the Providence one, at least more space among games. AND it's closer!
I'm only writing to review all things related to the food here.
Not the drinks, not whether or not you think House of the Dead 4 is too hard, not whether the hoops are rigged, but just the food, ma'am.
So I've never wanted to come here to eat lunch, but I've found myself here twice for business lunch purposes and neither occasions were my choice. But if the other guy's paying, I suppose I can't complain.
With a place like this, you've got to lower the bar. Service throughout (from when you're at the door and on your way out the door) is mediocre at best. It's not all that friendly, organized, or efficient. Every time I'm there, it looks like a lot of servers are standing around.
Well, I guess I can understand the standing around...there's no one here for lunch! There are no lunch specials like Uno's or Chili's, so the prices aren't all that tempting. I've only seen one or two tables filled during lunchtime.
But still, service finds a way to become slow. On both occasions here, it took forever for the food to arrive, and it's not good for people on a weekday to wait for their lunch, especially those on business.
Which leads me to the food...
It's not good. Period. I went for the Roasted Turkey Avocado BLT my first trip and it was pretty dry and tasteless. The bread was not fresh to say the least. I guess the only thing that was redeeming was the bacon.
My second time there for lunch, I had the South Philly Burger. According to the menu, after the burger, Â "it's loaded with thin-sliced steak imported directly from South Philly and grilled to perfection. Topped with peppers, onion, mushrooms and melted white American cheese." So when it arrived...
1) There were no peppers
2) There were no onions
3) There were no mushrooms
4) There was a tablespoon's worth of steak.
The burger itself was just okay and nothing special. I was totally disappointed by being shortchanged with the veg. I wanted to complain and get a new one, but I didn't want to wait much longer there.
I might try the games sometime with friends...but I'll load up at The Cheesecake Factory before I show up.
Dave and Busters in Braintree was great. Â I went with a couple of guy friends (I'm 25, they are 30 and 35) on a Saturday night. Â The restaurant was not loud or even particularly busy. Â There were thankfully no kids there, and the sub-21 crowd was kicked out after 10PM. Â I will definitely be back.
Food and Service:
Our waitress, Toni, was friendly and attentive. Â I got an order of the pretzel bites, which were plentiful, dense, and buttery, and came with a trio of sauces. Â I also ordered a "snow cone" drink, which, while not incredibly strong with its mixture of various liqueurs, was by no means inadequate, and well worth the $7.64 for the nostalgia value - it really did taste like a snow cone. Â
My entree was the "Blackjack Chicken and Ribs" combo, the chicken was on par, and the ribs were surprisingly good. Â It was a large portion and I was unable to finish it - Toni brought a box right away. Â It came with a side of loaded mashed potatoes, also on par, and some fried onions that were mostly a garnish. Â I also ordered a side salad and was pleasantly surprised to see it went above and beyond "just iceberg."
The tab for the food before tip was $36, which was quite reasonable given the portion size.
I have two gripes about the food/service. Â The food was a little slow coming out for how busy the place was, but it wasn't "I'm going to complain" slow, so I'll let that slide.
My second gripe was an eyebrow-raiser. Â As part of your meal, if you want to play games, your server will offer to set you up with a player card for $2. Â You are then welcome to load that card with a set amount of value, as well as a bonus value (which is worth it). Â Anticipating I'd be back, I opted for the $35 card. Â Rather than processing the card purchase separately, the waitress added the $35 to my check, bringing the total to something like $75 - I'm guessing this is just how the business works, but I'm not going to tip on the value of what is effectively a gift card I could've just bought for myself, and I recommend you do the same, even if it "looks" like you're leaving a 10% tip on a $75 check.
I was carded three times at D&B: once upon entering, once at my table, and again at the bar for a drink later. Â I'm blaming the Town of Braintree for this, not D&B.
Arcade:
Clean and fun. Â Games weren't too expensive. Â Won a cute stuffed dog for my girlfriend, and had enough tickets for some candy and a shot glass. Â All the games were working, and there was a great selection. Â There was a D&B "game crew" (two Asian babes) walking around, and one of them gave me a game on a motion simulator for free after I asked for a recommendation. Â A couple of the games had "free plays" built in, which was a plus. Â We were there for over 3 hours, and I only used about half of my game credit.
Overall had a great time at D&B with few complaints. Â Safe, fun, good crowd, good food, friendly staff. Â Really don't understand all the negative reviews. Â Definitely will return!
A decent alternative to going out to a regular restaurant, at Dave and Buster's you can eat, drink, play games then cash in your tickets for a small candy snack or other prize.
Food was pretty good. Service a little weird, server seemed a little new! Â You can get a dinner special with arcade card. Arcade is LOUD. And I mean really, extremely LOUD!!!!! Â Games are fun. But don't spend $50 trying to win a boatload of prize tickets because even a boatload still won't get you a big prize!
Regardless, it is still a fun time. They even have classic games like skee ball, pac man and whack a mole.
Try it on a midweek night and avoid the big crowds!
Imagine a mediocre New American bar & restaurant type of deal with a ginormous arcade inside and you have Dave and Buster's. The people were really awful, though.
This location was my first ever Dave and Buster's visit. As we pulled up and got out of the car (parking was an easy find around 10 pm on a Saturday night) there was a very slight line out of the door, as Katy Perry and other white girl top 40 hits blared from the speakers. Upper middle-class blonde girls wobbling in heels up the stairs screamed along to the music and at the announcer who informed the crowd that all youth were to leave and the establishment would be 21+ for the rest of the night.
"What? We can't play any ga-ames?" One of them screeched, ignoring the doorman's watchful eye and an ear-piece wielding bouncer looking dude. "Fuck Dave!" another chimed in. After they were quieted down by some beefy crew-cut "alpha male" of their group, who tried to explain that they had misheard the announcement, we were ushered in, carded (complete with a scan gun to make sure our IDs were legitimate) and braceleted.
"Welcome to Dave and Buster's!" some quasi-waiter-host looking thing shouted at me and my boyfriend. "You guys want a table or something?"
We made our way through the arcade to find our friends. I'm pretty sure I must have blacked out for a second, because I have no recollection of actually entering the arcade area. I just remember blinking and being like "uh, it's loud, flashy and bright all of a sudden." Tons of games, tons of fun stuff to do.
I could tell that my Philly cheese steak was actually cooked and prepared, not sent freeze-dried from a Dave and Buster's factory somewhere. It was okay. I was STARVING and hadn't eaten since 1pm, so...that factors in to my review.
The meat was kind of tough and there was an UNDER cooked mushroom. The grilled onions were also rush-grilled so there was a bit of bite to them, but maybe my mom over-grills onions so therefore I hold different standards.
Would I go again? Maybe on Wednesdays or another weekday. I felt I was being judged for my flat shoes, casual blouse, cardigan and jeans. I encountered many girls walking around in stiletto spike heels and club-looking outfits. I can dress like that too, I just had no idea Dave & Buster's attracted that sort of crowd.
"Points" take place of tokens and can be easily put on a debit-card sort of deal. It was like, $25 for a decent amount of "points" but a lot of the machines can rob you of an upwards of "9.9" points.
Also, they blare top 40 throughout the place. The same top 40 that you will find exactly at a low-to-mid tier club in the city. The same couple songs every night, "We found love in a ho-opeless place," anything by Katy Perry, that one song that goes "ooh, I get a feeling, yeah" with the dubstep interlude and "TONIGHT WE ARE YOUUUNG."
My perception of this establishment pre-visit was a sort of Chucky Cheese for adults, with alcohol and less cheese.
Basically, I was right.
Even though the youth were welcome to stay till 10pm, we were carded immediately upon entering through the first set of doors. Â I'm not sure what's up with that since neither crowd got marked in some way, and I'm sure they would have carded us again anyhow if any of us had elected to order an alcoholic drink with our meal.
Later on in the evening, I noticed a dress code  posted that okayed baseball caps and knit hats, but no other headwear nor sunglasses.  Just fyi.
At the recommendation of Linda Chuong T.'s review, I went with a $20 game card meal (the food was okay - chicken was tender - but nothing special at the same time) and ended my night still with perhaps 30 odd points remaining of the initial 100 points I had started off with. Â This was after about 2 hours of game play and of watching my friends play. Â (Oh, basic math - each point is worth 20 cents).
I went home with a stuffed bear that I later found on the street for $8, and leftover points and accumulated tickets saved on my no longer brand new (it did get swiped a dozen plus times after all!) Dave & Buster's card.
1/2 price Wednesdays are a-okay; the rest of the week is kind of pricey...
Hubs and I came here on a Friday night to meet some of my old coworkers. Â Parking was relatively easy and there was assigned door staff greeting patrons and checking IDs and letting people in the door. Â I felt like I was at airport security as I had to fish my ID out of my bag as it was scanned. Â Once we got in the door it was kind of hard trying to figure out how the seating system worked. Â Fortunately, the tables in the bar area are seat-yourself so we had no problem finding two bar tables, pulling them together, and then getting our grub and drink on. Â Your best bet is to come after minors are no longer allowed in the establishment (I don't know why parents think it's really a family atmosphere)...
The food wasn't that great. Â I had the steak and bleu cheese salad. Â The steak was cooked "medium" and was extremely tough to cut and eat. Â Hubs ordered a burger with sweet potato fries and instead he was served regular fries and charged for a side of sweet potato fries. Â The food was also extremely expensive, but they do offer eat-and-play packs that includes a meal with "points" to play the arcade games. Â Most likely, that will be your best deal at D&B.
So on to the games... the biggest complaint I have is that there's no advertisement of how many "points" each game is and how many "points" you get to the dollar. Â You have to pay $2 to start a new card, and from there, all transactions are based off the points. Â But, they do boast an impressive amount of games including classics like skee-ball (my personal favorite). Â There are a lot of video simulation games - like motorcycles and cars and a large Connect-4 game. Â
I understand there's a lot of alcohol available and the South Shore Plaza isn't known for having the best clientele around, but what's with all the cops at D&B? Â There were several cops outside the restaurant (as we were leaving) managing the line to get in, several cops inside the restaurant monitoring the bar area, several cops in the arcade section watching us (I gave them a real show when I played the driving simulation game while drinking a beer and there was nothing they could do!), and even more cops upstairs looking down as if we were in a prison yard. Â Let's be serious, I think there are larger problems...
But if you're looking to meet a group of friends, have some drinks (and perhaps share some appetizers), this can be a fun place. Â There's plenty of parking, the mall is close by, and lots of booze! Â If you're looking to plan a large party, there is space for larger groups. Â It could be fun, but I don't think it would be my first bet. Â Instead, I'd rather go to Kings in Dedham!
Oh Dave and Busters, shower your Goliath circuit city sized building filled with expensive alcohol and games all over my chest.
This place wasn't that bad, and it wasn't that good either. I mean it's a Dave and Busters, a place with the strange mission of combining drunk adults and little kids.
I recommend opening a tab at the bar so you don't have to get your ID checked every time. Which also sucks because drinks are pretty god damned expensive.
I also recommend making use of different bar tenders because TECHNICALLY there is a limit on how many drinks they can give you for your night. Something ridiculous like 2. Though I've never run into this problem, I have friends who have. Maybe it's because I'm a golden GOD when it comes to holding my alcohol.
I don't know about these types of places in general, I start to get buzzed, am supposed to drive home, the 16 year olds look more and more like 18 year olds the more I drink and play DDR (Dance Dance Revolution), and the place outside is flooded with cops. Sounds just like a big 'To Catch a Predator' scenario or DUI trap to me.
Sure had fun though!
Gotta go empty the chamber pots for the kids in my basement TTYL.
Blah, this one is awful compared to the one in RI. I mean the bar is bigger...so I guess that can be a plus. Half price wednesdays? Okay. Still a bit expensive...Only one coupon per a card per day. There's always that coupon that is going around for the pay $10 get $10 free on your card...so you end up paying 10 bucks for 20 bucks credit which is kinda half price...but then you will blow that within an hour on the coin machine hoping all the coins will drop..yeah i'm the sucker for that.
The games aren't that good, they lag...i played every racing game in an hour..or maybe less so that goes to say something. I'd come to chill on wednesday but otherwise i'd pass. Just somewhere to hangout..and maybe grab a drink next time i go in.
Oh, if your license is expired, they actually don't let you in! Good thing i have a passport in my bag as well...at least the people that work on the floor around the games area is chill...
My 300th review and it's not going to be a good one.
ACKKK!!! I felt so crowded and claustrophobic. I couldn't walk without bumping into someone. Not a very good experience for my first time at Dave and Buster's.
I've heard so many great things about the D&B's in Providence, RI and decided to give this new location a try. It was my cousin's birthday and she said to be there at 8pm. When we got there the line was out the door, reaching the parking lot. We didn't get into place until almost 8:45. If it wasn't for my cousin's birthday, I probably would've left after a half hour waiting outside in the cold.
There was no organization in the bar and dining area. I saw more than a few people just walk right up and grab a table as soon as someone left. Even though there was a line of people just waiting for a table.
The drinks were over priced and not very strong. The food was typical bar food. Although, the spinach dip was pretty good.
I only bought a $10 game card and it got me a few games. I didn't really play for the tickets, so I don't really know what they had for prizes.
Would I return, unless I was asked by a friend. Not a place I could see myself returning on my own.
Shut it down-shut it down (Providence location is much better!). Â I visited this location with a XX chromosome friend and was greeted with a long line extending into the streets. Â That was not too bad-I suppose it is expected for such a "prime" location. Â However, I did not sign up to listen to conversations re: Tim Tebow's virginity from the Braintree residents. Â
It can get quite crowded during the weekend. Â I also want to note that your Jump Rope game is broken. Â NO ONE COULD DO ONE JUMP????
Also-the parking? and no paper towels whatsoever? Â I very disappointing venture so say the least.
Its a fun friendly place to go during the weekdays..but not so much on the weekend... it turns into a dance club..weird...long line, you have to be 21 and older to get in, very crowded, with loud music and drunk adults.
FYI Wednesdays are half off on powercard points, so you get more games for the money!!!
This is a fairly new D&B, now that there is one in Braintree there is no need to hike all the way to Providence for people in MA. This one is a lot smaller compared to the one in Providence Place, a lot less machines and a way smaller section to redeem prizes.
This location is well kept and a lot cleaner than the one at Providence Place but I'm not sure if that is only because it's brand new. The bar/food area is a lot bigger in this one -perhaps they are trying to attract more adults. I didn't get to try the food so this review is solely based on the games and the arcade.
I'm a Fruit Ninja lover and unfortunately I was disappointed by the machine here. Even though it seemed like it was going to be a lot of fun on a huge screen it was extremely slow and froze a bit.
Overall, this is a pretty expensive arcade but without much competition they beat Boston Bowl and other places. Half off games on Wednesdays if you want to save some money! Also, coat check is $1 only.
I came here for the first time, I felt like an adult who didn't know what fun was...I left there still not knowing how to be fun (Wow I'm only 17 and I felt bored out of my mind).
Maybe it was because I only came here with my cousin, just the two of us, girls...if it wasn't shooting zombies it was racing cars , if it wasn't racing cars it was basket ball or skeetball or whatever you call it. Walked around the whole place, mainly repetitive stuff... didn't feel entertained of overly joyed.
I also thought the place would be bigger, I guess not, or maybe just the way my mind thought.
I'll come back again witha  bigger group to see if my view will be changed.
As other reviewers have noted, D & B is what it is- a loud arcade for adults. Â
I didn't go here expecting a gourmet meal... I know they offer food, but I wouldn't think it more than munchies.
I did go here with the intention of having a fun night out- play some games, have some drinks and enjoy the company of a mixed group of friends. My expectations were met.
I appreciate the fact that D & B cards every time you go to the bar- they take their liquor license seriously and that'll allow us all to continue drinking there. Is it really that taxing to take out your ID???
My one complaint will be that the restrooms were a bit dirty to say the least- a huge pet peeve... especially one out of soap.
I'll be packing the Lysol for my future visits!
I had a great time here last weekend celebrating my birthday with some great friends, but there were a few things about this "adult Chuck E. Cheese" that I thought were less than appealing.
While I thought that drinks and games seemed reasonably priced, they have a one-drink-per-person limit AND re-checked my ID every time I ordered a drink, both of which I felt added to my wait time at the bar and made it quite obnoxious to leave the bar area knowing you have to come back 20 minutes later for one measly beer. Â A 2 drink limit would be a lot better since the place is brand new, super crowded, and there is only one bar for the place. Â
The games were great and I never seemed to have to wait in line for any of them. Â I tried my friend's fries at the bar and they hit the spot for sure. Â
Parking, on the other hand, was kind of difficult at 9pm. Â Also, the coat clerk "lost" my jacket and I had to explain to her what it looked like in order to get it back. Â If i can keep my half of the ticket in my pocket all night, it should have been easy to find IN MY JACKET that never moved from the closet all night.
