Incredibly bad food; overpriced; about as "Mexican" as the USA flag; totally avoid.
Traveling en route to Chicago, wanted some Mexican food and this place was across the street from the motel. Â Should have known when I walked in that it was NOT going to be good.
Chips were warm, but the salsa bland and sparse. Â One flavor fits all: Â no hotter salsas in the place unless you want it from a bottle purchased from the store. Â Chicken fajita was made from strips of chicken purchased from the grocery store; no onions it it; only chicken and bell peppers: Â no tomato; no onion; no flavor. Â They did have a salsa verde, so got that. Â Don't: Â When the bill came there was a .75 charge for the dinky little paper container it came in. Â Same with the guacamole: Â $2.00 for a side of the stuff that was maybe two tablespoons worth. Â Mexican rice? Â Extra charge at $1.50: Â Bland, no spice of any sort.
Total cost for bland, white bread food calling itself Mexican was close to $15.00. Â The place is for those who want a froo froo girly drink in a silly glass.
Next time, I'll be certain to check Yelp to find a joint. Â I see there are several with good reviews for authentic Mexican style food. Â Heck, TacoBell has better tasting food than this joint. Â The End.
PS: Â PLENTY of flat screen tv's at the bar and around the place with baseball blaring. Â Is this an Iowa Sport's Bar?
