EVER SHOTGUNNED A BEER ON THE PATIO OF A BAR?
Well with $1.50 beers, anyone can afford a good time on the patio!
Deville's is a little gem that only locals really seem to find. The building is very small, but the decor is quite amazing with an elegant victorian style. It's one of those places you expect to be flourishing, but instead it is usually pretty dead. The bartender is chill, but she doesn't lift any extra fingers to make you feel welcome so I am always a little disappointed about that. I think a lot of it's crowd, or their lack of, is due to their location, almost non-existant advertising, and size. However, if you go there I am sure you will agree it is a pretty sweet place with great prices and worth noting if you go to HB a lot. I heard their onion rings are to die for, so maybe next time I'm not full from shotgunning beers in their patio I will make room for some onion rings.
Stay thirsty my friends!
This is a nice little place in Huntington Beach. Â Cheap CANS of beer, yes, cans. Â They dont have draft, or at least didn't when I was in there. Â The happy hour menu looked good so I ordered a few things, and was surprised to see the cook run out the back door, and appear again a few min later with to-go things of food.
I asked the bartender about this, and she told me that he actually ran to BEACHFRONT 301 to get the food, since their kitchen was shut down a while ago and its the same owner. Â
So I learned something. Â Same food as Beachfront, without the crowds and cheaper drinks.
CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP food and it is a great size. The plates are big and you get way more then you pay for. At least if you are willing to wait one hour+ for finger food.
The waitress or bartender was a bit rude and did not even bring us water. We had to approach the bar and ask for water. But what can you expect for $3 plates?
It was really good food. Mostly locals only. Only a few people in the bar.
Overrall: Food was great, Prices were great, Service sucked. But for $3? I think I will be back!
Full bar, cheap prices, great food - consider me SOLD. I haven't been here at night but during the day it was pretty much empty and the service was quick. They have a menu that consists of finger foods like sliders, tacos, quesadillas, and sandwiches. All dishes are between $3 and $5.
I had the two fish tacos for $4 and they were BIG..and ohhh so good. You can order them fried or grilled (I got them fried of course, being the super health conscious person that I am). The carne asada tacos came with two also and they were street taco size (like 2 bites and it's gone) for the same price of $4. Not sure how they
figured that one out..
The place is very small, probably only 30 people could fit inside. I love the decor though, it's all black seating with red velvet walls. Doesn't get any better than that. I didn't think it was dirty at all but a lot of the tables were wobbly and that's pretty annoying.
Our server/bartender was really friendly but I took a star off because she didn't seem to be that great at making drinks. I ordered sweet tea vodka and lemonade but they were out of lemonade, so she decided to pour some sweet tea vodka in some water. I've never taken a bartending class but I'm thinking it wouldn't be that difficult to make something a little better. Even just soda water would have been an improvement. I'd definitely go back to Deville though, especially for those fish tacos.
Stopped in here while waiting for our table at Sushi on Fire, and really dig it!!! It's small, but has a cool feel to it, and the bartender was cute....that's gotta count for something when you're reviewing a bar, right? Â Anyhow, we were a group of about 8, and we all got something different to drink....everyone was satisfied. It has the typical dingy, Socal, MMA, hoo-rah, "hey brah!" vibe....but it's tolerable in this place due to the small size.
Review Source:This is our refuge from the rest of Downtown when all the D-Bags are out. Its a very "locals only" place, if you're new there, we all know it. By far the cheapest place Downtown, used to be nice and now its a shit hole but we go because we know everyone and its cheap! It gets the job done. And yes, the bathroom is wretched. It tends to start fights when chicks go in two at time and take an hour. Â Their menu is pretty basic and again, gets the job done when you are drunk and hungry! And they dont have $1 beers anymore- theyre $2-$3 now. $4 well.
Review Source:You're going to find the cheapest deals on alcohol in downtown here at Deville.
You're going to find the local drunks here.
You're going to discover they bring over appetizers from beachfront for their food (heard the owner of beachfront owns Deville too).
You're going to feel dirty. Like you need a shower after you sit in their seats.
You're going to not want to drink anymore after you use their bathroom. It's unisex. It's dark. It reeks of urine. It's frightening.
But did I mention you're going to find the cheapest deals on alcohol in the area? 3 stars.
OK! Â First, I'll admit I'm bias toward this bar since I go there almost everyday. Â Second, I'll admit I'm more bias because it's older sister, Beachfront 301, is where I am the other days. Â But it's got to be done.
Deville: $1 Bud & Bud Light from the keg or can depending how quick one runs out. Â Wells under $5, my preference. Â Dark, seedy, dirty little sister bar with spicy tenders who don't take *hit.
Most of the patrons are local dailies with time to spare for what ever our reasons. Â Newbie that stubble in, well walk in and stubble out, are welcome.
Typically the music is pre-set from big sister, I won't comment on the flavors from the speakers, but sometimes it's better. Â I prefer the TV.
Great place to watch the games.
I've hung out at every bar in the Main St. area & for some reason, accept those above, Deville & 301 have become my 'main' stays.
Pop in sometime. Â Say hola. Â Spend a dollar, tip a dollar, adjust your eyes.
Probably the cutest bar in Huntington Beach....Deville and I have a very close relationship especially when it comes to summer time, and day drinking, and being on Main St. in general.
Don't think I've ever gone down there WITHOUT stepping into Deville even for a quick drink.
The food menu is cheap they have the $3-$4-$5 items just like at Beachfront and even...$1 beers. Â CheeeyaH!
I don't have to deal with TOO many douches and the outside seating makes for a great people watching location!
ANDD....ANNNNNDDDDDDDDD. They let me tie Duke to the railings so we can sit outside together. The girls at the bar are even sweet enough to give me a makeshift water bowl so Duke can get his drank on....WITH WATER what kind of dog owner do you take me for???
Im not sure if its the taxis in HB or I've just been lucky enough to catch a cool cab driver in front of Deville but they are always happy to have my dog jump on in with us when we need a ride home after 5 hours of good hard drinking... Good Boy Duke...and Good Boy Deville.
I'm sorry, I thought you said $1 beers? Oh wait - you DID say $1 beers? I'm there. Sure, they may only be 10oz and they may only be Bud Light - but I'm still in.
Plus, this bar gets an automatic couple of stars for fulfilling my dark bar with red walls quota. They've got food, they've got cheap wells, they've got Tecate specials, aaaand they've got those HB bros, but they've got me too.
I can't seem to find the deals online now, but I seem to remember them having crazy cheap daily specials too - but maybe they just switched that out for the one buck beers everyday - I'll have to do some research there.
All in all - I'm a fan - and it's juuuust far enough off main street to not be insanely packed with bros all the time (only partially packed).
Came here on a Friday afternoon for some drinks during happy hour. Â The happy hour beers were $4 and regular drinks (non-well) were $6 to $7. Â We had a total of 4 people in our group which made us 50% of the people inside until some people from the other group of 4 began to leave. Â The bartender was really nice - she came by our table to check up on us and get us more drinks, it's just too bad there were not that many people inside.
Overall, the place is really nice. Â The girls we were with loved the black and red decor, especially the red velvet wallpaper. Â So, we left around 8pm to get ready and come back out downtown and we ended up at Beachfront toward the end of the night and checked on this place but it was closed around midnight (can't really remember the time but it was closed). Â This place has a nice ambiance but they need to get more people in here. Â Anyways, I'll be back next time I'm visiting HB.
SUMABITCH! I've never been to this place...never will...just a phone conversation with the dude name Kenny from the bar just proved this is a shitty ass place. Could've had a chance to make $$ for a wedding party but he had a stick up his ass and just lost the whole party. Work on your people skills.
Review Source:Where in any city can you get $1 beers ANY time of the day or night?!?!? Â Now a days that unheard of. Â I ordered 2 beers and a order of sliders with fries. Grand total: 5 freakin dollars. Â Inside it's nice too. Â Oh the bartender, it's a white chick with long straight dark brown/blackish hair, Â she's pretty cute is super cool. Â I wish I could remember her name. Â They have 4 or 5 plasmas and a little patio outside. Go here if you wanna catch a buzz for dirt cheap.
Review Source:Great little locals spot. I swear I see the same ten people here everyday when i walk by. They should be made part owners because they're keeping that place aliuve.
The food is awesome, they make it at beachfront and bring it down. the beer is dirt cheap... $1 beers? Ummmm I'll take plastic cups all day for that!
It's cool to see a place like this. basically, a bundle of local guys have figured out a way to drink like you're iat your house, but with a downtown decor.
Kudos
haha i was kind of nervous walking in here. it was smaller than i expected, and upon walking in, there were some people sitting at the bar, some sitting on the few available tables..it definitely seemed like a locals spot, so my friends and i stood there like, uhm..so..do we seat ourselves or...? felt like such a no0b! lol
there were no servers, just one girl behind the bar. we asked her for a menu and were excited for happy hour prices! we got buffalo wings, carne asada tacos, spinach dip, and sampler platter. their menu ranged of items from $2-$5! Â the food wasn't spectacular. it's all just your average wings, not so good mozzarella sticks..but they were edible and cheap, so i'm ok with that! haha you get what you pay for.
DO NOT, however, get the spinach dip. DO NOTTTt. the dip was just like one big...i don't know. you know how cheese gets hard and becomes like one big THING? yeah. i was like, tearing off pieces of "dip" to accompany my super oily chips.
however, the server/bartender girl was really sweet (and pretty! haha) and helpful, she did a good job for just one person there taking orders and such. and the prices in general are unbeatable..happy hour is pretty much all the time, 7 days a week...beers are $1-$2 depending on which one, wells are $3!
good place to just get drunk, eat, and just relax!
Ok you cannot beat $1 beers! I don't care who you are, how much money you have or dont have ....$1 beers can lure anyone into a place. I typically go to Huntingtons to head to El Ranchitos , but I have now changed my spot when i hit HB. HB is known for its high priced drinks & food and even during happy hours your spending $3-5 /beer. So, Go to Devilles you can spend 1-2 hours and maybe see a 15$bill. . I think the decor is alittle odd , but it has all the elements it needs to be a decent bar. Tv's, seats , service is alittle slow (but with only one girl working what do you expect?) Â and a cute little patio. On Sundays there is an outdoor concert right accross the street from the bar with all types of music . Just a great place to go for some cheap drinks. The food I have not tasted yet, but everytime I go to the bathroom you walk by it and it seems very clean. Oh the only bad things is that there is one bathroom for the place . You will most likely at one piont be in the line up to go pee. I look at it as an opportunity to chat with some people. :) Anyways, great place! You should go!
Review Source:I came here yesterday for the first time, normally I really don't like going to Main st. and I can now say I have a good reason to go back!
You really can't beat $1 beers and all the food on the menu was under 5 bucks with generous portions. It's prolly gonna be the only place I go to the next time I'm in the area :)
Oh yeah that's not even the best part. I'm a sucker for good music and they were playing a lot of old 90's rock bands which is pretty fuckin rad in my book. I was also very impressed with the decor, had kinda a dark feel to it but eh that's my style I guess.
I'd give it 10 stars if that was an option.
I recently lost my Yelp virginity and i'm still a little sore, but I must  push forward and write about Deville's.
Actually, i dont even know if I should give away the secrets of this little gem... ok, i will. But don't tell your friends. I'll come after you. Promise.
The BEST drink deals in HB. $1 beers, $2 cocktails... $4 high-end premiums. Cozy little spot. Don't dress super nice though.
GUYS: take the girl you're trying to hook-up with and offer to pay for all the drinks. You'll look cool. Just pre-warn her and tell her the place smells like food cooking because of the kitchen thats so closely attached.
GIRLS: if a guy offers to take you out there... run. Unless, you don't mind. And if that's the case - call me.
Cheers!
Used to be Jersey Joes but now a pub, lounge, wine bar? Not sure....It has cool decor, very nice waitress, good prices, needs a better wine selection and better music. Seems likes it's having a bit of an identity crisis. My suggestion is to add some really good indie music (I.E. Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Â Mogwai, Album Leaf, anything KCRW plays etc.) and dim the lights down two notches and they will have a hit! There is definitely need and a market for a hip and european style "wine" bar in Huntington Beach. We have plenty of sports bars and bro bars in our town so please switch the laker game for some cool videos. May I suggest Fritz the Cat, Breakfast at Tiffany's or a Salvador Dali Film. Good luck! P.S. The food looked good and the prices are indeed wallet friendly.
