We stayed here prior to going on a cruise. The hotel is right on the beach and is about a 5-10 minute walk to the shops and restaurants. Our room was comfortably sized, and had a great view of the beach/ocean. The staff was great and enjoyed helping. If we're ever in Fort Myers again, Diamond Head will definitely be at the top of my list of places to stay!
Review Source:Stayed here before christmas with my mother on a mom-daughter vacation...
The place is OK. Being one of the more pricey places at Fort Myers Beach, we expected more.
The good stuff:
The best thing is the staff - super nice, gentle, helpful, and always gave us good suggestions on stuff.
The breakfast buffet is not half bad but could use fresher fruits!
The pool area/jacuzzi is nice enough and the staff delivers drinks. They have bingo and other rec games outside. Not too bad. Too bad the drinks have no booze in them - buy your own in the liquor store n save money!
The room was great with kitchen, big fluffy beds, nice screened-in balcony looking over the ocean...
But here's where the reason for 2 stars begins:
The rooms are nice enough but the floors are made of tile. That means you can hear EVERYTHING that happens on the floor above. Every morning, our upstairs neighbors started dragging furniture around and wearing heels at like 7AM.
We had a beach-front room and on the dot at 6:30am, the staff would use a tractor to "smooth out the beach" (why?!) and haul their jet-skiis out into the water. This really sucked and we got no sleep.
The hallways are made of stucco and echo really loud. If your neighbors have children, you get piercing screams echoing down into your room. yikes. Also when the maid comes by draggin her cart at 8 am - it's like a rumbling bus!
I think this place is great for early risers with pre-teen kids. Not solo adults.
Also this review is for a stay late Dec 2012 - and they were doing repairs during their holiday season on the bar. Nothing like looking at half-build overhangs and scaffolding while at the "beach side bar" on vacation!
Had a wonderful but short time here recently while property hunting in the Ft Myers area. This place is wonderful all around from the minute you walk in till you unfortunately have to check out. The room was a nice cozy and perfect for a late fall getaway weekend for laying out on the balcony enjoying the sunsets enveloped by the smell of the salt air.
The staff is awesome and super attentive, makes you feel very special.
Great place for a 3 day weekend getaway anytime.
We just stayed here on a short, two-day vaca...and it was fabulous! Our room was adequate (think: holiday inn style), the view was great, the service friendly, and the pool/beach were clean. The only negative was that the hallway that our room was in looked a bit like a service hallway, and I don't know if I'd pay full price for this room (we got it cheap though a silent auction).
What else...free wifi, nice coupons to the resort restaurant and bar, and it's within walking distance to all of the island's attractions!
This hotel gets an A+ all around. We rented a suite here for 4th of July weekend. The room was huge, very spacious for 5 people. They have a sofa bed outside in the living room, a pretty big balcony.
You are right on the beach, the pool is also nice, the staff always eager to help with anything.
They have a restaurant, their food is yummy- and affordable!
I would definitely stay here again!
I'd recommended this resort if you're in the area. Â I saw a few other places when we walked to both ends of the beach and it seems we made the right choice for location and amenities. And it wasn't packed with kids like a few other hotels were. Â No offense to kids, just wanted an adult vacation.
I was told that all Fort Myers beach hotels are pretty dated but this one has an updated feel once inside. Â Can you spell wi-fi from your patio or at the pool!?
Wonderful and friendly staff throughout the resort.
All suite hotel, very ample sized rooms with awesome shower pressure (especially important for gals like me with thick long hair), stone floors and huge screened-in furnished patios. Ours was overlooking the gulf/pool and was nothing shy of gorgeous.
Beach chairs/waverunner rentals/kayaks all of 10 feet away from the pool bar. SweeT!
Stay clear of the concierge unless you are interested in "free water sports" at the cost of a time share sales pitch. Â We passed, timeshares aren't my thing but if you like going back to the exact same place every year, this place might be for you!
I absolutely loved this place!!! Â I HIGHLY recommend it!!
The room was very spacious, it was actually more like an apartment with a huge balcony!! In the balcony they had a round table (to have breakfast i guess) and two beach chairs to lay out and enjoy the view of the ocean!!!! Â The hotel is right on the beach so you can go for a swim at any time!! which made our stay there super fun!!
Finally, the service was wonderful, when I arrived back home I realized I had left something behind in the room and they shipped it to me at no cost wich made me very very happy!!!! This will definately be the place I stay at whenever I go to Fort Myers or Sanibel Island!
Just returned from a three-night stay at the Diamondhead. Â I can easily say that this is the nicest hotel on Fort Myers Beach! Â Our suite was perfect: spacious, immaculate and well-appointed. Â My only complaints (and they are minor): Â we were directly across form the elevators, so at times the folks in the hallways (exterior) were a tad noisy (but the elevators themselves were silent!) and the walls of the units are pretty thin - at times it sounded like our neighbors were bowling. LOL Â These was not big enough problems to change our opinion of the resort!
Beach was beautiful, and the hotel was surprisingly busy considering the time of year. Â Lots of families; the pool was always crowded but was very clean. Â They provide ice water for guests at the pool, a nice touch. Â We had a pool/gulf view from our 8th floor suite and enjoyed our balcony. Â
We did not try any of the bars or restaurants at the hotel so I can't comment on them except to say they were busy. Â The front desk and housekeeping staff were courteous and attentive.
I will definitely return to the Diamondhead, it was a nice easy getaway just about 30 minutes from our home, a great change of pace and good place to relax. Â Highly recommended!!
This is absolutely one of the best choices for anyone looking for a hotel right on the beach in Fort Myers. I came down to South Florida, just to take a retreat from the craziness that is Chicago for Memorial weekend and couldn't be happier with the accommodations.
The standard hotel rooms are more like suites, each with both living room and bedroom. I felt like I was escaping to one of those swanky places featured on Life Styles of the rich and famous. The real treat isn't the really the living quarters, but rather the balcony over viewing the ocean. In the morning, when it's really quiet, you can see for miles down the Florida coast and listen the soft calls of seagulls.
The rooms all have a fridge, coffee maker, toaster and microwave, which is ideal if you're looking to save case by cooking your own food. The hotel also has an in house spa, and a small fitness room on the second floor.
If you are looking for water sports, the hotel has everything available, including para sailing. We ended up renting a scooter across the street and cruised around the island. If you're looking for more of a romantic vacation spot, I would highly recommend this place. Oh yea, one more thing, there is a large pool and two very cozy jacuzzi right next to the bar.
