    4 stars for food
    2 stars for service
    0 stars for atmosphere

The food was excellent. We would love to go back just for the food but the smoking was a huge distraction for us - it permeates the entire space. And the only time we were there the service was strange. When we entered the facility at noon on a Saturday there were 8 people at the bar - no greeter, no wait staff. We finally decided to seat ourselves at an empty table as far away from the smoking bar patrons as possible. Still no wait staff. Got up, walked over to the bar where there was also no bar tender and grabbed a menu to peruse. By the time our waitress came out of the kitchen to get our drink orders we were ready to order. She was (ironically) very friendly. Drinks came out quickly. Food came out in a reasonable time. Everything tasted fresh, made to order, delicious!  We asked for the check when the food was delivered. Again she disappeared into the back and it took quite a while before she brought the check. We even considered just walking out but don't think 2 wrongs make a right.

IF you go - get the WTF Chicken sandwich. Both the family recipe potato salad and onion rings are also great.

I would have given this place five stars but smoking is not cool. Other than that great place, cold beer and had an awesome time. Thanks!

We love to see Night Train at The Rooster but I don't go there any other time really.  Once in a while I have a beer with a friend there but I'm not a fan of the country bands that play most often or the patrons that come to see them.  I really love that they have live bands there, even if its not my taste, there aren't enough places supporting local music.

The food is always very good when we order it and the waitresses are nice when you sit at a table.  The drinks are good and strong but I was very surprised that they don't carry any Shiner on tap.  Karaoke is always fun there.

Overall a good place to hang out.

HA! I couldn't resist going here when I heard the name of the bar. I grew up in Allen and when I was visiting some friends and catching up over Thanksgiving and we wanted a drink someone mentioned this place.

Not great service and the bar isn't well stocked, which is a downer, but the drinks are made stiff and they had KARAOKE. We were so excited, and kind of impressed by the local talent we were never aware of.

We didn't get to try any of the food, but people around us seemed to really like the burgers.

I will say it's much cleaner than it was when it was Bubba Moose, new management has done well.

    Stiff drinks-check
    Mediocre band-check
Weird old men that I gravitate to-check

I am rarely/never in Allen- I work at a motorcycle place and one of my co-workers was stuck in the rain so I was a good samaritan and drove him home.  (Dallas to Allen-I deserve a medal!)

I would go back...I had fun and the waitstaff were awesome!

I visited here because it was close to home and I wanted to watch Game 7 of the Red Wings vs Sharks Stanley cup series.  While I was totally disappointed that my Wings failed to win that evening I found a great local hangout.  My opinion may only be slightly skewed by the fact that the place was full of fellow Red Wings fans!!

The bartenders here are friendly and attentive.  The patrons are an eclectic crowd that seems to mingle well.  And as a 'membership' bar it is a smoking facility so be prepared for that.

Given that is such a cool little place right near by it's very likely that I'll be here more often for games and night caps.

Happy Hour M-F 11-7... $2.50 drafts... accompanied by a couple good yelps was enough for my work lunch crew to try this venue out on our weekly Friday lunch.  The service was decent... a little slow, but that was due to the kitchen taking 30+ minutes to cook 6 burgers... However, great beer prices and cold mugs satisfied our group.  My burger was decent.. Nothing to brag about.  But I wasn't expecting anything out of this world anyway.

I probably wouldn't go back for more than some happy hour snacks and some booze... but if you aren't looking to be impressed by the cuisine then definitely go for the drinks.

Happened in here last Friday in between a stop at Fedex Office and needing to hit Market Street for groceries.  Not wanting to go to a grocery store hungry, and it being after Noon, I thought a quick burger might hit the spot while I peruse the grocery store ads when I saw this joint as I left Fedex.  I was greeted at the door by a friendly and perky little gal named Sam who told me to sit where I wanted.  After confirming that what I saw on the sign at the front was true, that this was a smoking bar, I plopped my butt down at one of the booths and lit a smoke (yes, I'm almost at the point of giving up, but there's something about being able to light up in a bar for Old Times' Sakes so I HAD to do it!).  Then I ordered a Michelob Ultra and studied this joint.  I saw friendly people, others being greeted by name as they came in for a late lunch, hugs and laughter.  Sam informed me that this used to be Bubba Moose but it's under new ownership and/or management - not sure which or both, but I got the impression that this is a place that's been fixing itself upBeyond the usual TVs all over showing a variety of sports, they have cover bands on Friday and Saturday nights, and they do karaoke during the week - Happy Hour all day till 7pm so that was a plus!  There are also pool tables and dart boards so yes, all this qualifies as a "joint" I guess.  I did note that they were gearing up for the playoff weekend with banners, etc.

I perused their menu for a quick bite and settled upon their Johnny O's Bacon Cheddar Burger with fries (you can choose fries, onion rings or warm potato salad).  Noted in particular that their burgers come with mayo and after quizzing Sam quickly, discovered it's REAL mayo - that's one Star in itself!  The Johnny O's is named after a customer that suggested it.  The burger arrived in a basket with a heap of fries.  The fries were good, not thick, not thin, but crispy delicious and Sam gave me a large side of mayo since I use that in place of ketchup for dipping.  The burger was huge, with large thick cut bacon slices hanging out of it and wrapped in paper to make it easier for eating.  Silverware was provided with a cloth napkin "in case you need to cut it in half" as Sam told me with a grin.

All in all, I liked it.  Fairly local to me, this place was clean, the bathrooms were clean and the people were friendly.  My kind of place. Unpretentious. I'll be able to kick back here.

Oh, and see if Sam can serve you.  She's a doll!
