TERRIBLE service. I was ignored by my waitress for over an hour, then was treated with disdain for actually wanting another beer. I'm a server myself and that was totally unacceptable. Never coming back!
Update:  after 20 mins waiting for my second beer, I ask her about it...she then tries to tell me she gave it to me, tries to make me feel guilty by saying she'll have to ring it in again and will have to buy it herself.  So she gave it to someone else, blamed me for it, and then shamed me.  Nice.

This is definitely a dive bar, but the food was excellent!  Went on Thursday and as long as you have one drink all food is half off!  Well deserved the good reviews.

Just the cutest dive bar and I'm sad I didn't notice it sooner. I've been once, but I'll be going again for a causal dinner and drink with friends.

This is a fun place to go.

It is VERY VERY loud. I could barely talk to the people sitting next to me at the bar.

Great beer and drink selection, and reasonably priced.

Both times I've been there it was country music, which isn't really my bag.

The people that work there are nice enough though. The bartender did give me a hard time when I requested a shot of  "the cheapest crappiest tequila you've got" though (I had a really long day and needed something to kick me in the head).

Crowd is very diverse. Lots of fun. Definitely the best bar I've found so far in the Windy Hill/Cobb Pkway vicinity.

I have two reasons I love Dixie Tavern- Live music and half price food on Thursdays. What does that mean? On Thursday, you can eat for cheap and listen to a local band jam (Thank you, Captain Obvious... I know). The food is pretty good, get the tater tots. The Buffalo Chicken tenders are a nom fest in your mouth... The wait staff can be slow, but they are super sweet. They usually have good beer deals, and local beers on tap too.

Definitely recommend, grab a booth, put some graffiti on the wall, check out the Zac Brown Band memorabilia, and enjoy your grub and swill.

I like this place.  Ok the waitresses have been cute as hell for years.  They do a good job of finding good looking young ladies that are not just friendly but that can also take your order and bring it to you without dragging their butts.  The food is decent bar food.  Bugers and tots with a few decent apps.  Nothing special.  They have about twelve beers on tap and two dollar pints of the cheap stuff.  This is a darn good place to see a band also.  I will tell you this though do not try and have a conversation while the band is playing it is far to loud.  Went and saw the Psycho Devilles the other night and it was great.  I have seen some god aweful bands there though in the past.  The sound is good and the venue is small so you can get up close if you like.

Went here with a friend for lunch...I won't lie, initially, I did feel uncomfortable due to the Name, My Skin Color and The Name! LOL! But, once we got in, it was great! The food was good, the bar tender was good and I the prices were reasonable! I honestly envisioned the scene in the movie "48 Hrs" when Eddie Murphy went into the bar and and the events led up to him saying "There's a New Sheriff In Town..."
But it wasn't like that! :-)  I had the Lemon Pepper Buffalo Wings and Tater Tots...My Total was only $8.52! I guess they have Half Off Specials...I ain't complaining so I'll be back soon during the Day time! :-)

P.S. The TVs were great and located in great spots!

I did not want to like this place. As someone who grew up in Atlanta, I don't dig the whole rebel flag sign and decor. We are fighting an uphill battle with that image already, but that's an aside.

Both times I've been have been I was dragged here by girls or I probably would not have stopped by, and it was a blast! They actually book really solid acts. I would feel comfortable saying they book the best performers in the area. It's not up to par with Atlanta, but Marietta is a whole different animal.

The stage is close to the bar and it gets LOUD. Would not recommend it for a first date because you will be screaming back and forth at each other. The drinks are cheap enough and strong. The crowd is very local. A lot of regulars. There is a TON of parking because it's basically in a strip mall. If you see someone you like performing here I would definitely stop by.

I go for lunch at least once a week - I won't say what day because word is getting out and the place has been packed for the half-price lunch specials!  One thing that sucks - chances are you will go back to the office smelling like smoke since it's 21+..

Surprisingly good meatball sandwich (apparently the owner makes them from scratch), I believe it because it's the most unexpectedly good sandwich at a dive bar like this.

I've probably had almost every sandwich on the menu and you can't go wrong - above par food and you have to get the tater tots!

I've gone out at night, only con is the music can be a little over the top - it's a small location and it gets crazy loud.  Head out on the patio and listen to the music from there and enjoy the decent beer selection they offer on tap.

I've gone here plenty of times; my roommate may as well start picking up his mail there. Live music nightly, good specials.. (Half price food Thursdays IIRC). Never had a bad waitress there, everyone's friendly and it's a great bar.

I will say that it's distinctly two bars, though. Before the music starts at night, it's a quiet place. Once the music fires up, it gets loud and sometimes crowded. I kind of like the effect.. no need to bar hop, when the bar hops for you.

The food is good... most of my guilty pleasures are here. If you want something fried, it's probably on the menu. If it's not, then ask and they'll probably come up with a solution for you. Several great Cajun entrees.

    I'll see you there!

There was absolutely nothing wrong with this place, and absolutely nothing spectacular for me, either. The service was friendly and attentive, the snack I ordered was hot, fresh, and tasty, and my water was filled repeatedly without having to ask.

I'll probably not come back often, though... why? Well, it was just too, too loud. I don't mind loud music, but I've never been much of a rock fanatic, so hearing amplified screeching and wailing isn't always my cup of tea. If it was turned down a bit I might have actually enjoyed it, but I mostly suffered... so if you LIKE loud bands, this is your place!

I hadn't been to Dixie Tavern in years and I'm pleased to say that some things never change.  A friend and I stopped in after work and the place was pretty quiet but it was pretty early and a Tuesday.  The service was very good and while the food was typical bar grub, it was pretty tasty.  Besides, I can rarely find fault with a place that serves tater tots.   Now that it's back on my radar, I'll have to go back so that I can hear some live music.  They used to have some pretty cool bands and I'm sure, much like everything else, that hasn't changed.

I recently moved to the area and had a friend visiting. After I picked her up from the airport we swung by Dixie Tavern on a Thursday to grab a quick drink. There's seating outside but we went inside and it's definitely more of a country bar than anything else. We were pretty much the only women in that place, there were a lot of middle aged men there which was a little creepy. The waitresses were really nice and there was live music--a country band. There are several pool tables and maybe darts? I think I saw a dart board...

I can't vouch for the food, but this wouldn't be a bad place to hang out and shoot some pool and have a few beers on a low key night when you don't feel like taking a cab all the way downtown. My only real complaint is that you can smoke inside. Gross.

Upon arriving in Atlanta for some corporate training, my classmates and I were feeling hungry. And upon much deliberation we decided to go to the Dixie Tavern... primarily for its close proximity to the hotel. Upon arrival, the place was totally dead. And (I have to say) being a nonsmoker, the inside was intolerable. I have nothing against smoking, but smelling it while I eat is not the most appetizing thing in the world. So we all got an outside table and sat down to eat. Much to the fellas delight we had an attractive, friendly and (may I add) busty waitress. She brought out our drinks quickly and suggested food from the menu. I ordered the shrimp po'boy blackened. It was ok. I mean, that's really all I can say about it. It was ok. The tater tots however, were AWESOME! Really nice and crispy! So all in all, the whole place is ok. If you are looking for a quick bite to eat and some great tots (wink wink), this is a decent place to go!

For me, this place is just okay.  I live close by so it's convenient but definitely not my first choice for fun and hanging (you can also smoke anywhere inside if that influences your decision).  They get pretty crowded on the weekends when they have bands, however the cover charge in my opinion is really not even worth it.  I was told last time I went there that the bands come up with the cover charge, not them.  Umm... I don't know about you but it's a recession (still?) and I will gladly decline paying $10 a head for a band that I've never even heard of when there are plenty of free options elsewhere.  There are free nights but in my opinion it's not really even hoppin' enough for me to wanna go in there.

I have also been here for lunch and although I've only ever ordered one menu item (house salad with grilled chicken I think), it was pretty good food.  The inside is just okay (tables, bar, and pool tables) and they also have an outdoor patio.  I would go back for eating to try other fares but as far as "partying" there are definitely my "rathers."

Good live music most nights, good food, good selection of beer, plenty of parking. However it's a college bar atmosphere, frequented by tons of young kids just barely able to drink which yields a lot of thuggish mentality. Everyone seems 'hard' and looking to start something. Pretty stupid to deal with when you're just looking to drink so it's better to try out for lunch or an early weeknight before 8PM.

Dixie Tavern is great - I love that I can go there with friends on a Saturday night and easily find someplace to sit. I love that Dixie Tavern has about 20 beers on draft. I love that you can see really great bands on a weekend night for free.

I'm beyond those bars where everyone is packed in like sardines and you have to elbow your way to the front of the bar to order a drink. It's also great to find a place where you haven't spent 20 bucks (parking + cover charge) before you even make it inside the door.

The crowd seems to be a mix of young (early 20s) and those in their mid 30s. Around 10:30 the band went on, and I was surprised at just how good they were. The band played music from the 90s - Fuel, Better than Ezra, etc, etc.

The have Blue Moon, Stella, Newcastle, and many other good beers on draft. Food is ok, but I would eat somewhere else first.

This place is hit or miss.  When this place is on, it is on.

This place is stocked with Gen Y and X'ers.  Thursday and Saturday night seems to be days to go.  The bands are typically amazing.

The drinks are pretty cheap and the selection is typical.

This place has the most beautiful lesbian bartender than I desire because I can never have her.

Have only been once, and it was during the day (Friday mid-afternoon beer with co-workers).  If you close your eyes and just listen and breathe, you would swear you are in a B-Level strip club from 1987.  The bartender is wearing so much of that floral body spray that you can smell her over the beer, smoke and bathroom.  Tesla, Cinderalla etc... are blaring on the sound system.  Although the sun is shining outside, it is very dark inside.  See, I told ya - strip club.  Anyway, the beer selection is pretty typical but not necessarily lacking - and all of the tough guy biker types were perfectly nice to me and my group of clean cut office worker buds - so 3 stars seems about right.

I don't understand why it is popular belief that all of the "Outside of the Perimeter" crowds are not as cool as the crowds that live inside the perimeter.

Dixie Tavern does have a good amount of local bands that are great.  Most of the bands begin their sets, as all bands trying to make a name for themselves do: being a multiple band cover group, tribute group, or whatever you crazy kids call them these days.

The beer selection at this location is nothing special.  They carry all of the typical domestic and import selections that you see at a place like T.G.I. Fridays.

The interior does have enough pool tables and dart boards to keep most bar hopping customers entertained.

The crowd that usually shows up at this particular location are nothing special, from my experience.  I guess it is kind of true that some of the OTP individuals can be a little bit lame at times.  I am still in OTP denial myself.

Originally an offshoot of the Buckhead location, this Marietta location is all that remains.  This is truly a great place to see local bands, drink cold beer, and mingle with the college and recently out of college OTP set.  I can't get too crazy here, as it ain't a cheap cab ride from Marietta back to civilzation.
