A few years ago the dock was the place to go for night life but for some reason it has simmered down. The dock has live music in the afternoon which is nice even if the band is very loud the dock is big enough so that you can still have a conversation should you decide to sit outside. I love eating and looking out at the water it is a beautiful place. The food is pretty good too. I have never had issues with bad food from the dock. The staff is very nice and helpful. I recommend the grilled oysters those are the best.
Review Source:I've eaten at The Dock a handful of times over the years - but went there again for a work meeting last week and really enjoyed it. Â They have an awesome private meeting/party room with great views of the water that I highly recommend for special occasions. Â Also, they have a new $10 lunch menu and everything we ordered was really good. Â Great service as well - which is sometimes not always the case with a group of 30 - but two of their waitresses did a fantastic job.
Review Source:Recently read that the people who own HalfShell in gulfport have been hired to manage this place so went there Tuesday night to try it out. We had the fried green tomatoes with house made red remoulade ****. Then I had the grilled flounder filet *** and my wife had a chicken dish with cheese and a BBQ sauce that she gave ****. We sat outside and it was very nice and calm and service by Audrey was excellent.
Review Source:I like the Dock.
The atmosphere cant be beat. Huge dock right on the water but the old guy playing his guitar needs to go.
I was surprised to read the bad reviews. I've never had an issue with my food. Â I love the fried pickles. They are my favorite fried pickles anywhere. Â I've had the Mahi Mahi sandwich and it comes with huge pieces of fish. I usually have to take half the bun off to be able to finish it all. I've tried the dockside chicken. Creative dish with great BBQ sauce.
The drinks are pricey. $6 for a small solo cup is a bit too much. The first time we went there was hardly any booze in it. The second time, it was perfect, but I still don't think its worth $6.
I wish this place were closer to my house. I'd go there more often.
Great place!
The atmosphere is wonderful, be prepared to slow down when you get here. Our servers were extremely slow. It was hot and I needed timely beer service which I didn't receive. I waited 10 minutes for a Michelob Ultra. Which was freezing cold! So it was worth the wait.
We ordered fried pickles. They came in a small salad bowl. It was enough for a taste if you have a group of 4. They are good.
They had my two favorite items which I always get if they are on a menu: fish tacos and sweet potato fries.
I had the fish tacos which were seasoned awesomely! I'll give them a 4/5.
The sweet potato fries are the best I've ever had. They are more like logs but perfectly crispy and creamy. Try them with honey mustard. I ended up eating 1 taco and all of my fries bc the fries were that amazing!
The hubs had a grilled mahi sandwich and loved it! He also made his sweet potato fries disappear.
The beer was well priced. $2 a piece.
I'm not sure what everyone is talking about when they say this place is disappointing. Due to previous reviews my husband and I almost turned the car around and went somewhere else.
4 stars for atmosphere. 1 for food. Â dave h. down there hit the nail on the head: this place would be awesome if they would either match their prices with the quality of food (which would be dropping their prices a lot!) or make better food for what you're asking in price. if i'm paying for atmosphere, don't try to fool me with below-to-average food. Â and play less jimmy buffett. Â WAY less jimmy buffett.
great place to get a happy hour beer and enjoy the breeze off the water. Â i had the fish tacos for lunch one day and they weren't that good at all. Â fish was all chopped up and over-cooked. Â i felt residuals later that day, but i didn't get sick; either way, this is a great place to get a beer!
Don't waste your time! Not worth the drive! Service is terrible & prices vs everything is a waste! After 30 minutes we left without paying and apologies on the way out (but the reception people didn't even waste the energy to stand up an looked like they could have cared less)! A Friday night, the place only had a few people with no one in their Latitude 30 lounge, and (!!!) the staff was more interested in their own gossip than customers! A drink, spinach dip with soggy chips, and that took 1/2 hour. I would give less stars but the lowest is 1. In this case the picture is helpful! The place should be empty!!! Â
I should add that my wife and I stopped at Subway on the way home to get something to eat. Even my wife appologied for suggesting we go to The Dock.
My goodness these people are sitting on a goldmine! Absolutely one of the best spaces on the coast! Building is awesome, location is even better, plenty of bars and tables inside and out!
The food is horrible! Wow! I went there expecting your typical Gulfcoast fare and was really disappointed. Maybe the food wasn't as bad as I perceived because my expectations were so high but it was average at best. I've heard the same thing from people over and over again, great atomosphere, below average food. If this place stepped up the quality of their food they could probably be the best eating experience on the entire Gulfcoast. Hire the guy from Steve's Marina to do your food. Lol
I'm visiting from California and haven't enjoyed much of anything here in Mississippi until now. I love love love this location.
Sat outside at the bar. The bar tenders were pretty cool and made good drinks. Had a strawberry daiquiri. Loved being by the water and they have plenty of fans going so enjoyed being outside on a summer day for once.
I ate the mahi mahi sandwich and it was awesome. The sauce was delish. Boyfriend had the chicken sandwich and he liked it as well.
I would love to come back here again  :)
While this might be a great place to listen to music, its food is extremely disappointing. The place bills itself as a seafood restaurant and offers FRESH GULF Crab Claws -- "a local tradition." I guess the question is what gulf? My order arrived and was awful. I told the waitress that they were very strong and perhaps frozen too long. She took them back and returned a few minutes later to say both she and her manager tried them and they both agreed with me. They told the chef who said they had never been frozen -- they came from a can! That is such a travesty I was at a complete loss for words. My dining companion reported his shrimp were not too good either so....
Review Source:This place is great in the summer!!! Â Drinks are very resonable and there is a huge deck outside with 2 big bars. Â Has great food at a great price as well. Â Has a huge dock for everyone to drive up on their boats without worrying about parking. Â Almost anyone that you would want to see or know is there on Sundays after boating.
Review Source:I'm embarrassed that this is a restaurant in south mississippi. The service was horrible. I went there a few months ago and stood at the hostess desk for almost 15 minutes without being acknowledged. Finally me and my boyfriend had to walk up and ask to be seated at a table.( The young girls behind the counter were busy chit-chatting and text-messaging to notice us, I guess.) Finally we get to a table and we sat for another 15 minutes without even being offered a drink. At that point, we decided to get up and leave. The night was ruined, I knew the service would not improve at this point. If you are interested in a night out for drinks and dancing, The Dock is fine.... but I would definetely not recommend going there for a nice meal.. very disappointing, and I haven't even tried the food!
Review Source:I must say I will never return to the Dock Bar and Grill and I will never recommend anyone to go there. I recently received the worst service I've experienced in a long time.
My Family and I were seated and and literally took 15 minutes for anyone to come acknowledge us at our table. When the server did stop it was only to tell us to hold on. It took another 15 mins for her to take our drink order. I also think the menu is not very extensive there really isn't that much variety. It seemed like any other seafood restaurant. When I did ask the waitress about something on the menu she gave me a smart-ass remark, like I should have known better, the food was not good, and to top it off my sister had hair in hers. GROSS! The waitress proceeded to ignore us once received our cold food.
Looking around the restaurant I noticed a lot of servers just hanging around the bar playing on their phones and talking. To me this looks unprofessional, especially when you have tables just sitting there waiting to acknowledged by anybody.
I must say I will not be returning to The Dock Bar and Grill....
"Good service can save bad food but good food cannot save bad service"....in this case there was no good service or good food!!
While The Dock has the potential to be an AMAZING place to go we were sadly disappointed.
The menu is very limited but we were informed that this was a shortened version of their normal menu and the "real" menu would be coming out in April.
Wine selection is very very poor. Choices of white? Zinfandel and Chard, that's it. Beer, none on tap. Mind you we were seated out in the dock area so I guess having glass is a no no. But they do have bottled beer.
We ordered 2 apps to start with. Smoked Yellow Fin tuna dip and the char broiled oysters. The dip was ok, too much mayo. The charbroiled oysters, again ok but nothing to write home about. They were EXTREMELY small in size.
Not being filled up we ordered some bacon cheese fries. Lacking on bacon but maxed out on cheese. They come with sour cream but we opted for Ranch. They serve you about 1/2 oz of ranch. Come on!
Had to ask for about 5 more ranches.
Prices seem a bit high for what your actually getting.
Then to top it all off. The Sweet 16 wasn't even on the TVs. HELLO are you crazy?? Had to ask numerous times in order to have it put on the TVs. That's something that shouldn't even have to be asked for in a Bar.
Would we go back? It's possible, just to check what the "real" menu is like and see if things get better during the summer months.
As others have said it's more of a go hang out with friends, drink and enjoy a band type of place.
i loved The Dock when it first opened. The food was yummy and the atmosphere was great. My husband and I usually eat there every Friday. However, it has slowly been going down hill. At lunch they usually have a smaller menu with a couple of specials. Now they just have the dinner menu and the specials aren't that great. The brisket was my husband's favorite and they haven't had the last two times we went. We both loved the grilled fish with the fresh green beans, and that is gone too. Today my husband got the fish and it came with the most terrible rice we've ever tasted.
I hear it is a happening place for the young on the weekends.

We wanted to give the Dock one last try so went for lunch today. I ordered the mushroom and crawfish pasta which was excellent the last two times I had it. It was terrible. The pasta was overcooked, and to me tasted like it had been reheated. The sauce was just awful. My husband ordered the fish. Today it came with Zuchini which was actually good, mashed potatoes which were not good. The fish was slightly overcooked, but still good. However it was covered with mango salsa which was not good. My husband ate the parts that didn't have the mango salsa touching it. I think most people in this area agree that the Dock has gone downhill. It used to be packed for lunch, especially on a Friday. Today it was empty. There were two tables with customers and we were one of them.
When it first opened, The Dock was a great place to eat. Â Now it's a great place to socialize. Â The menu, which originally contained tasty treats like bacon wrapped shrimp, steaks, blackened fish..etc has turned into a sandwich spread. Â Po-boys, hamburgers, and salads are about all that's left. Â Certainly not any culinary delights. Â I'm disappointed. Â I really enjoyed the original menu and atmosphere. Â
But, I still frequently make trips to the Dock more so for cocktails and socializing than for dinner.
If you do go for dinner on a weekend--Be prepared to wait. Â The dinner rush on the weekends can make the wait time almost an hour. Â But they have two outdoor bars and one indoor bar where you can have a drink while you wait. Â
The deck at the rear of the building is the best part of this restaurant. Â It looks out over Gulfport Lake and boats can pull up right to the private dock. Â The two tiki bars are on either end of the deck and sometimes each will have its own band. Â
To me, a 20 something, The Dock is more of a "going out" place than an eating establishment. Â The specialty drinks are all very tasty and the bands are generally entertaining (usually Jimmy Buffet stuff). Â A great place to see and be seen.
Tired on standing around dodging hordes of old folks at the Casinos the you might want to check out the newest hot spot on the Coast, The Dock Bar & Grill Located right next to the water tower on Seaway Rd. (SW of the the jail) TDBG has everyone's comfort food kicked up a notch!!!
From the Wasabi Seared Yellow Fin Tuna to their Grilled Black Angus Rib Eye Chef Thomas Genin will have you sucking on your, or your girls, fingers.
They have live bands on alternating Fridays and Saturdays but remember this place has just opened. Â If you don't want to drive there, you can always park your boat at their dock on the back side of the Bay.
They have both patio style and indoor seating with a full bar area that reminds me of my trip to Tahiti. Â Everything is brand new but I can see this becoming a Coast hot spot in no time. Â T shirts, shorts and flip flops are encouraged in this relaxed atmosphered oasis. Â
Keep in mind that right now they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but you can catch an expressed lunch Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 11:00 to 3:00 pm. Â Their normal business hours are 11:00 a.m. and stay open until the last jealous boyfriend or wife comes and drags your ass home. (Is that a bad word?!?)
While TDBG is a tad pricey to make it a regular lunch spot, its a great spot for dinner or to host a private party. Â Come on out and bring your boat!!!
