I wish I could give this place less than one star because not only did our lips never eat any food, our ears never heard, "hi, welcome to Doc's, can I get you guys something to drink?"

That's right, we came in, headed to the patio where there was already a group of folks having fun and eating, and a waitress who said, "Your server will be right with you." Yeah...right. 19 minutes later, nothing. We were out.

Never to return again.

Pool tables, tasty drinks, nice waitresses.

A coworker invited me to this place for some after work drinks.

I enjoy myself!

Drinks:
I had a the Texas Margarita. It was really tasty and pretty strong. The other girls were having mango frozen margaritas. They liked them.

Service:
The waitresses were really nice and super on target for getting us drinks before our drinks went empty.

Atmosphere:
Good mix of people all having a good time. I'll be back to play some pool and maybe some Ms. Pacman!

We've been to Doc's twice now... but won't be back for a third trip.

I will say our first experience was a good one. We randomly stopped in after some shopping in the area and happened upon a Happy Hour with cheap drinks and free grub. Our service wasn't stellar, but we probably would've given it 3 stars and made it a point to remember the Happy Hour and swing in to get some laptop work done one day in the future.

Well... that day came and the experience took a dive (a fitting word for the place). We happened in on a non-Happy Hour day, which was fine... but the free buffet was replaced with a live band duo that was pretty terrible on the ears. Our service was even worse than before, the food we ordered was mediocre-to-bad (a burger, fries, and chicken caesar salas - all of which I'd recommend staying away from), and their wifi didn't even work (which our server told us is such a common problem, their computer tech guy is in 3 times a week).

The place seems to have potential and the regulars are consistently clogging all the barstools... but I think they're only surviving on their cheap happy hours and the fact that they let you smoke indoors. Probably not a business model with any growth potential..

I love their wings! Doc's is a really nice place to go to when you want to really relax in a lively atmosphere. Always fun at the poker table too!!

The service is really good, the folks are cordial and attentive to their patrons.

Over the years, I've heard about Doc's millions of times - but finally ventured in for the first time last week.

It's definitely a dive - but Doc's embraces it "dive"yness - it's not trying to be something it's not. All the servers were friendly (while I was there waiting on my food - not one person walked by without making eye contact and smiling and or shouting hello.)

I ordered a burger and fries - and a chef salad. They completely botched my order - and my salad - no comment - let's just say I got exactly what you'd expect if you are crazy enough to order a salad at a dive. But here's why they still get three stars. The manager came out and personally apologized for the mistake with my burger and the condition of my meal. I declined the offer to prepare it again because I was in a rush - and opted only to purchase the salad. He discounted my to-go order even though I told him it wasn't necessary.

Color me impressed.

And it wasn't just the discount. He was just so sincere while talking to me. He invited me back and asked me to give them a chance "to make this right." He raved about the various nightly specials and talked about trivia nights, etc and drink specials. And how they're open until 3am - full kitchen. You can tell he really cares about his customers and this restaurant's success.

After reading the other reviews - I should have done that beforehand - I'm going to have to come back here and order one of the crowd pleasers - I'm thinking a quesadilla. I smell a four star review in their future.

This is such a dive bar. Not that I have anything against dive bars...

The only reason I come here every so often is because my friend loves it for some reason. At the time, she was a smoker so that could be one of the main reasons. I think the other reason is just nostalgia. The few times I've been here the food has been mediocre and the service is either really bad or just okay. I wouldn't go back unless it was somebody else's idea and they drag me there.

I really wish I could give NO stars. We've been to Doc's many times over many years, appreciating it for what it is: a smoky local dive. On this last visit, we had a large group. Someone ordered shots, but they were mistakenly put on my tab. The waitress said she'd take them off. We told her we had a Scoutmob coupon, but then realized it was expired. She said she couldn't do anything about it, but suggested we talk to the manager. The manager comes over and while we're just asking if there's anything he could do, he instantly has the absolutely worst attitude I've ever encountered in customer service. He says, absolutely not, oh and by the way, you're paying for these drinks or I'm calling the police. HUHHH???!?!?!?!? There was no reasoning with him despite the fact his server made an error in putting things I didn't order on my tab. Long story short...he DID call the police. The server LIED to the police to cover her own tail.

Disgusted doesn't begin to cover how I feel about that place. Our group had spent HUNDREDS of dollars in that place that night, only to be treated like thieves by an egotistical greasy rat of a manager. Even the responding police officers suggested we contact the owner directly to complain.

Just don't go.

This is a tale of two reviews. If you are a 1980's chain smoker, you will love this place. No worse feeling when you have on some good clothing and banging cologne , you come out smelling like a train engine smoke with your eyes burning. It smells up in there. Bring a mask.

On the other hand, the drinks are cheap! The wings are probably top 10 in Atlanta. Place is full with old hags and past their prime people who normally are just chilling and relaxing with a drink. This is #Teamdive Bar all the way. Did I mention that the wings were official? :)

I went here once in late June with a small group. We sat out on the porch because it was extremely smokey on the inside and one in our group was really sensitive to it. :) We had a really great time because on the inside, some band group was botching well known songs for entertainment, and our server recommended this apple cider type beer which was extremely good! (I wish I could remember what she called it). My group and I aren't big beer drinkers, but we decided to be adventurous because the server highly recommended it, and it was cheaper than the cocktails.

Ok, others in my group got the chicken wings with the sour cream potatoes. That was good. I on the other hand, ordered a chicken philly steak (big fricking mistake on my part. You know how you're the one idiot in the group that orders outside of what everyone else did, and you get stuck with the less yummy dish, and everyone else is like, "aww sorry, bad luck!"). When I picked it up, it was so stuffed with...stuff...that it split the sub bun it was in. Also, the flavor was super bland. I did order it with curly fries, which were pretty good though.

All in all, this was a fun place to hang out, especially since it's close to where I live. Our group plans on going back out for the Luau on this Saturday (July 14th). We'll see how much fun we have. (Drinks will help either way) We're also going to be ordering that apple cider beer whether it is or is not part of the Hawaiian theme!

I ate here with two dining companions the other night at the recommendation of it being a sports bar by our concierge. I can't really say that it is a sports bar but that is not their fault. They did have the braves game on all of the TVs and there were a fair number of them. We asked about getting the playoff hockey game on one of them but it never happened.

I decided to start off with the garlic cheese bread, the sampler and a Busch. Normally I wouldnt drink Busch but for a buck fifty, I figured why not. The garlic cheese bread was good and ample. The sampler was decent but greasy with the fried artichokes being very good. For dinner I decided upon the buffalo chicken sandwich with the hot hot wing sauce. It wasnt anything spectacular but was good enough.

The bottom line for me is that I would head back here in the future. It is sort of a dive bar with bar food and cold cheap beer but if that's what you are looking for then this is a good place.

Haven't been in a couple of years, but I assume it hasn't changed since it didn't change a lick in the ten years I went there when I lived in the area.

I only visited Doc's for lunch. Great lunch place and a tremendous value. On Monday's, they used to have leftover prime rib on the lunch menu (leftover from their Saturday night menu). It was delicious. Nice selection of veggies.

I don't smoke but I like the old school feel of being in a place where smoking is allowed.

I've been here twice. The first time was to see a band play. It is tremendously smoky inside which I find to be uncomfortable and digusting. Second time I sat on the patio and what a difference that made! Not the greatest patio due to its location in the parking lot, but at night the area quiets down a bit and can be quite enjoyable.

The wings (lemon pepper naked) were pretty good. The carrots and celery on the side were old and dry.The side salad seemed like a bagged mix, but the bacon crumbles on top were from real bacon, not those fake bacon bits. The caesar side my bf had was soggy. Beer pitchers on the weekend aren't especially cheap, but not expensive either. We both had the prime rib dinner. $8.95 for a princess cut, side starch, and the salad. We both had a baked potato as our starch. The prime rib was better than I expected and the baked potato was huge.

I'll definitely be back to try the other specials, as long as there is seating available on the patio that is...

Total no frills dive bar, next time I'd definitely pass on the food although the lunch specials are almost all under $7 ( I see the reason for that now). I met a friend here for afternoon drinks, and was surprised to see the drink deals which are pretty awesome. some days they have $1 beer! They are open late ( either 3am or 4am) so if you are looking for a spot in Cobb that is open late it's worth a shot.

Okay, I'm a little obsessed with this place. Sure, I live within stumbling distance, which makes it even better, but Doc's really stands alone in the dive bar category, and I'll tell you why.

HOLY GOD THE QUESADILLA. There is nothing, anywhere, in the whole wide world, that could ever be bigger, better, and more filling than the chicken quesadilla. It is MASSIVE. Easily enough for two people, possibly three. Cheesy, chock-full of stuff (including some fairly spicy pico, all things considered)... and I wanna say they cut it into, like, 8 pieces. EIGHT. That's how big it is.

The burgers are depressing, but the wings are delightful, and you MUST try the sour cream fries. They are served with some thin, slightly watery ranch, but they're fantastic on their own.

As far as the specials board goes: if you ever see Peanut Butter Pie on there, order two pieces and take one home with you. Mega-ultra-extra delicious, to the max. I never get there in time to get more than one piece, because it's always gone. Sad panda. :(

Be prepared to smell like smoke for two days, even after a shower. Febreze your clothes, and move on with your life. It's worth it for the really (and I mean REALLY) strong drinks, rowdy mid-life crisis victims, and the sheer fact that it's open until 4. For real.

If you can reserve initial judgment, and not take your dining experience ever so very seriously, you will have an awesome time here, if for no other reason than it's an interesting place to people-watch and get stupid-drunk on some stupid-cheap beer with some just-plain-stupid folks. Because everyone gets a little stupid after midnight, anyway. Even me.

My flight was delayed last night and I got to Atlanta around 11:30pm, so after getting ready to go out it was already 1am, and it didn't seem like such an awesome idea to trek into the city from the weird-ass suburban hotel and chain store-land that is Smyrna. So, we hopped across the street to Doc's. And it's a good thing we did, because I met the new love of my life, Elizabeth, the pretty bartender who pours a 'normous whiskey shot and is friendly-as-hell. Swoon.

Okay so, maybe I puked up a bunch of whiskey in the bathroom and never said anything about it. Maybe I did. I only ate a salad all day and was really tired from traveling... and like I said, Elizabeth gave us a "shot" (basically, a short glass) of whiskey, and others bought shots and beers for me as well. So I mean, you know. Everyone says this place is a dive, so I suppose its expected that you randomly decide you need to become less drunk in a bathroom stall with no lock.

Honestly, though, I didn't think this place was a dive at all. It just seemed like a local bar... I feel like it would have to be smaller and dirtier to be a dive. I was told there would be cougars here, and there were not - so that was a little disappointing. However, I really loved the diversity of the clientele and how busy it was without being packed. It's weird that you can smoke in bars in Georgia, but just because you can, I had to have one cigarette with my Yuengling (and apparently with my massive amounts of whiskey). That could have been what pushed me over the edge.

Or it could have been the fact that because I am as Northerner as it gets, I kept feeling like I was at Merlotte's from True Blood. So many locals with beautiful accents talking about their trip to Chattanooga (who knew that was a real place?! Who even knew the south was really and truly real?! It's so amazing!). I liked this place a lot, I just wished it wasn't in the 'burbs.

And I quote: "Let's get our check. And never come back."

I'm going to get the story straight. I came here for lunch with my friend on a "time crunch".

Having read Yelper reviews, I was prepared to order for my friend while I waited on her arrival. I also knew that even if I were lucky, the service was going to be slow. Which is sort of pathetic when your salad looks day old, and thrown together by a one-armed lady or gentleman.

I ordered my friend a beer for when she got there. Yeah, I'm a sweetheart (who also takes direction well).

When our waitress approached us, she saw my friend drinking her beer. She scolded us with a motherly bad-attitude. My friend showed her ID, and it was fine. We made no commentary.

I'm not sure what I expected, but maybe I should have sat at the bar to avoid 21+ confusion. Since my friend was breaking from her corporate job, I didn't want us to be surrounded by smokers, even though we were fully aware of the inevitable dive atmosphere.

We came for the great lunch specials, cheap beer, and well.. something else. A third...gosh I can't remember.... Ha ha..

Oh yeah, the Scoutmob.
Which our waitress completely botched. We got our check and it was double the original price. OUCH. Manager?

We did our best to be grateful consumers, but there was something fishy in the air... and definitely in the bathrooms. Yikes.

Really, a 2.5 - but as Mahsa G said, I'll be generous.

This is a dive. I love dives. However, you need to go here for the right reason: drinking. Do not go for the food like I did today with coworkers. Slow, mediocre and, yeah...just all-around off. We were nearby and needed a quick lunch and it - wasn't. We ended up having to get most everything to go after a 30+ minute wait for sandwiches and a patty melt done wrong (sub a chicken salad....ok) and a well-meaning manager who came out to address the patty melt problem, but then didn't follow through on the promise of the replacement chicken salad coming out right away with the other two sammys. Ok...

The quarter of the chicken club I had was - ok. Not bad, not great - ok! Oddly, I got cheese curly fries (I didn't ask for cheese) which were tasty. My boss got a club sandwich with chips and it looked good. Overall, average on the food.

Ultimately . . . Very smoky, and a place I think best meant for late night drinks when in the area.

I want to give this place 3.5 stars, but I think 3 is too low so I'll be generous.

You have to go into this place knowing this is a dive bar, sooooo... it wreaks of smoke and the food is typical bar food. I thought the wings and onion rings were good, but artichoke hearts and fried mushrooms were eh. The waitress was very nice and service was prompt, but we also went when it was slow (mind you, some bars have service that sucks even when its slow!). Plenty of tv screens to watch the game and they have specials M-F. We went on Monday so they had $1.50 drafts which is the ish! I live right down the road so I would go back again if I wanted a quick bite or a bar to watch the game aka they guys watch the game and I down some beers :)

My husband and I went to Atlanta for a wedding, this was a great local dive bar we found near our hotel.

Pros:
Cheap drinks
Open until 4am
private lot

Cons:
if you sit outside you might have to wait awhile for a waitress.
Use cash if you can.

While traveling to Atlanta for business for two weeks I have eaten or stopped by for drinks 7 times. That would be very good indicator that I like the place. It has a full bar and good staff.

The bar tends to be loud. However the patrons are friendly, the beer and drinks are good.

As the food goes it is pretty unspectacular. This is an excellent place to get a drink however.

I had a GROUPON to come here. So, a cousin and I decided to go on a Thursday afternoon. There was no crowd or anything- we were right after the rush hour.

Well, as we walked in, no one said anything. After about 30 seconds of just standing there looking for someone who worked there, we just sat our patooties down at a random table. Finally, a waitress comes and takes our order. I ordered a regular ol' hamburger and fries with a drink. =) It was good, but the restaurant overall really sucks.

It's DARK in there and smoked out, my friend. I mean, SMOKED OUT. Definitely a smoker's paradise, I could barely breathe- and somehow didn't see anything about that on the website, but next time I will definitely make sure!

Also, a lot of old people.... no problem with that, but I mean, a LOT of old folks like Doc's. Hmm, gotta find out what's up with that.

I was apprehensive about this place at first but after being in here for 5 minutes, I'm a fan. The people are fun to be around, drinks are cheap and the food is awesome. We came here on trivia night and it was awesomely fun.

Total dive bar but a tad above the bar. Service is surprisingly good and it's not too loud at all. I'm a fan and will come back here!

I normally am entertained by a good dive bar. This is not a good dive bar. The smoke is heavy. The decor is bad. The place clearly has not been cleaned in years. Maintenance is clearly optional. The crowd is a rough group at best.

It's a dive bar with lots of TVs, so I'm already digging it. We happened in on BINGO night and I. Love. BINGO!! Apparently, so did a lot of the regulars as they took their BINGO VERY seriously. I think the BINGO announcer was slightly drunk as the pacing of him calling the letters varied from really quick to one letter every 5 minutes...and hopefully, it wasn't one that he'd already called.

The food was standard bar food but slightly above-average on the tasty scale. Or at least that's what my friends said. I personally was there for the beer. Which was nice and cold. Just how I like it. Know what else was nice and cold? The whole entire bar! I understand that it's a bit older, but can we get some heat up in this piece?!?

VERY much a neighborhood pub. Cheap and local with friendly regulars. Don't be surprised if you end up in some lively conversation if you grab one of the many bar stools.
The place is smokey and divey but it is a BAR. No crying children here. There is a pretty good lil patio with seating if you want to escape the smoke.
The food is surprisingly good and they have a pretty extensive menu. Many daily specials too. This day they had free food for happy hour even.
They even have arcade games and a couple pool tables if you are so inclined.

Simply a neighborhood place with the best wings I've ever had.

A good variety of lunch offerings at reasonable prices and good brunches on the weekends.

Free poured drinks, decent prices and good service makes it a place worth trying out.

However, don't forget, it's a bar. After 4 or so, it's smokey, loud, all kinds of characters and regulars, it is what it is. Don't go there expecting Applebys.

If you don't find Doc's a cool place to just drink at, you're trying to hard. Doc's is not an upscale lounge, nor a trendy place for the young crowd, it's a smoke filled, stained carpet haven for the cougars and manthers that continue to prowl the night searching for a score of blow and sex. And that is it's allure. Sure, you could maybe get head in the bathroom with ease, but why not at the table? After all, it's Doc's. And yes, cocaine down the road at Copeland's is a better cut, but Doc's is cheaper.
Seriously, I don't think there's any real dealing or prostitution going on here, I just like to make the jokes. I have been offered both here, but that's par for the course of a grungy place I suppose. Oddly enough, if you go for lunch the smoke really isn't too thick (you can see) and the food is actually really, really good. I've never had a bad meal here. And the drinks, cheap and strong. And strong. Did I mention strong? A rum and coke may come with an ounce of coke if you're lucky, and they get heavier as you drink them I think. That's good for the lushes. They have a jukebox, a live band at times, tons of TVs full of sports, trivia night, and a few other social things during the week, and I've seen a big ass roast beef flank before during the day, some buffet deal. That's cool. But the main reason to go here is to crash a few late drinks since they're open later than anyone else, assuring you of a bad hangover in just a few hours.

Last true bar probably ever go, mainly because of the indoor smoking. I now find it strange to be able to eat and smoke at the table now... its kind of like $#!tting where you sleep to me. My friend fell in love with this place becase beers are cheap and he didn't have to freeze his ass off outside trying to smoke (during winter).

This large, yet divey bar has good food though. Their hot wings are probably the best I've ever had, and their hamburger was cooked perfectly. Friend got a sirloin steak with all the fixings for $9.49... amazing. Full and 3 beers each, cost about 40 bucks.

I went to this spot a few weeks ago. I've lived in this area for over 6 years, passing the restaurant because for some reason it just didn't appeal to me, but because they had a coupon on http://Restaurant.com and after looking at the menu and what you guys had to say, we decided to give it a whirl one date night a few weeks ago. I am not smoke friendly, so I made it a point to stay ourside on the patio after verifying that it is indeed a smoky spot. There was no one watching the patio in case any guests came along or anyone right inside to notify that you were there. We decided to just go with the flow and just sat down outside and waited, and waited, and waited... some more.
Finally, a waitress came along and took our simple drink orders. She seemed a little disappointed that we didn't want 'real drinks', but we don't drink. We also gave her our voucher from http://restaurant.com as we always do. Oh, you would have thought that this was the biggest deal she's ever encountered, she snatched it out of our hands in DESPERATE effort to warn the MANAGER that she had some folks trying to use something that they actually paid for. When she returns (without our drinks mind you) she starts to read the entire qualifications of what the coupon says. There is a LOT of text on this page, so I thanked her for letting us know, we are more than familiar with the terms as we use them at various restaurants each week at least. We gave her our orders. It took forever for the food to reach us, but it still managed to come before our drinks did. I had the ginger ale that was served in a mini-glass with tons of ice. It was not until we were leaving that we were told that there were no free refills on soft drinks, only on the sweet tea that should not be allowed to be served in the south where we take such seriously. Because of the coupon, we are required to order $35 worth of food. The prices are so low there, so it requires each person to have an appetizer as well as a dinner to use all of the funds. The certificate is good for $25 worth of food, guaranteeing that you have to pay at least an additional $10 to the certificate.
I ordered the combo appetizer plate with teriyaki wings, the SO had some wingless wings (an oxymorom if I ever saw one, gimme a bone!). The SO got some steak dinner that had plenty of sides, but the steak was completely tasteless. There was some guy who just kept walking by our table over and over again, never id'd himself - but just looking at us really crazy. Becuase the steak was tasteless, waitress nowhere to be found, and food getting cooler by the moment, I went to the little station to see if there might be steak sauce (never offered). The mysterious dude saw me looking for something, offered no help, I didn't find it so went back to the table a little embarassed I had to be so bold in my search. My entree included a baked potato, side salad, and soup. I asked for the tilapia for my entree, for some reason the waitress decided to give a teriyaki topping on my fish as well, though I only wanted it broiled. I could feel the high sodium overtaking my body, so I decided to not eat the tilapia, simply go ahead and take it with me home, possibly rinsing some of the thick sauce off when I got home for a leftover the next day. We asked the waitress for a doggie bag, who shows up by the mystery guy. Apparently, he is the manager of the place and wanted to remind us that the food in the http://restaurant.com program is for eat-in only. We are aware of that, but he interprets this to mean that one is not allowed to take out their leftovers either. Apparently, takeout boxes are his highest business cost and providing such to folks who used that program would send him out of business shortly He goes on to tell us that he participated in the program to get business to come into the doors to come in and enjoy the food and by us going outside, we're not really enjoying it as he intended. My already high blood pressure from the ridiculous amounts of sodium in the teriyake wings was really peaking at this time and I am glad for the calm smile of the SO to bring me back to reality so I wouldn't blow a gasket.
Would it have made a point to let him know that before he tricked out, we had decided to come back in a few weeks with some pals for a celebration. Would it have helped to tell him that we had been in the area for a LONG time, but it was solely due to the gift certificate that we decided to actually come in to give it a try? Nah... I think that I'll just forgo the remaining certificates that we have to go there as well, that cheap meal was WAY too expensive.

Great local Pub, they have 4 dollars drinks and a live band on Friday...

My kind of place to close out a crazy work week

Good local pub with live music, pub trivia, and bingo on different nights of the week and weekend. The prices are very good and the chicken wings are outstanding. They won an award in the 2009 Marietta Chicken Wing Festival. That's actually not a joke.

Doc's has indoor and outdoor seating. The inside is a little dim with a haze of smoke to see through. Doc's is a little older then some other local places but it has a lot of character.

The food is pretty good minus the nachos which were really disappointing. Food is served really late into the early hours of the morning. The service can be a little slow at times so I don't recommend coming here if you are in a rush.

For sports fans, Doc's has a lot of TV's so watching your favorite sporting event will not be a problem.

The service can be good or pretty bad depending on who you get. I am going to deduct a star for inconsistent and typically slow service.

Overall, 3 stars though!

A long time ago, in a decade called the 90's I used to frequent this place after 2am. Holy crap it was a great way to end a Friday night! Cheesy, a classic dive, and strong drinks. My friends (guys and girls) always managed to pick up a freak or two at this place. It's amazing what a melting pot of drunk-n-horny folks this place attracted after 2am. The stories I could tell. Not sure if it's still like this. I'm older and wiser now and only stop in for a taste of their so/so bar food. Don't do it so much for the food, but for the memories it rustles up. ;-)

Glad this place has stood the test of time. There are few "holes in the wall left" OTP.

Doc's reminded me of the bar that Patrick Swayzee works at in the movie "Road House." There is a thick layer of cigarette smoke during its busy hours that makes it hard to see three feet in front of you; however Docs does have some qualities which made the cigarette smoke bearable.

The night that I visited Doc's Wines and Spirits I was able to get a seat really close to where the band was to perform that night. The band that I saw at Doc's that night may have skewed my opinion somewhat because they played everything from Eric Clapton to The Doors, which was right up my alley; however, it should also be noted that this band was awesome and their performance really helped everyone in the entire place to have a great time.

After their performance I spoke to the lead singer/guitarist and he informed me that they played a gig at Docs' on a regular basis, so this was not a once in a lifetime thing.

The beer selection at Doc's was decent. They had domestic and import. The wine selection was probably purchased from Kroger or some other Grocery store, and they had enough liquor to spare, as any bar usually does.

The food at Doc's was not very good. I don't ever really expect a hole in the wall bar to ever have good food in the first place, so that did not impact my opinion.

Overall, I had to give Doc's a good review because I had a great time. Doc's is definitely the place for you if you prefer the company of good music, local friendly biker guys and good customer service
