As a muppet once said, "people's is people's," and so the same goes for dohertys. It is dohertys. It's not The Worlds Best Whatever, but the place to go where you can feel completely comfortable. Good for a group, good for a solo bar jaunt, it's good for everyone (except, maybe, people who need help with stairs?).
They have multiple trivia nights (Sunday and Tuesday), 87 beers on tap, changing with the seasons, a pretty spacious seating area, friendly servers, and so on. Diverse crowd, as well, which I appreciate. Â
The food is good, not all of it is great, but they offer a good amount of vegetarian options. And the shepards pie is so yumolicious.
It's my new go-to, so I do wish they had frequent visitor deals :)
I have been to Doherty's several times, and always leave satisfied. Â I have never had a meal here that I felt was just meh, they have all been tasty, and way too filling. Â Do yourself a favor, and plan on leaving with a doggie bag. Â
The choices available range from sandwiches to full dinners.  There are traditional Irish Pub foods  available, such as bangers and mash, and the latest trend foods, like pulled pork.  They offer a nice selection of comfort foods, with items like meatloaf and shepherd's pie. Â
With most meals, you get a choice of sides, which is quite extensive. Â They range from ordinary tater tots, to exotic rosemary oven roasted fries. Â They have always have a variety of vegetables offered when I have visited, which might not be farm fresh, but are not the oil drenched mushy variety that are often served in other places.
I don't go for the beer menu, which is quiet extensive, and to my non drinking eye looks impressive. Â Many interestingly colored beverages are paraded by one's table, served in an intriguing variety of ways.
The waitstaff at Doherty's has never been anything less than friendly and helpful. Â I have even had to request a table change due to unexpected friends stopping by, and the staff and server were helpful and unflustered buy the request. Â I love that they are so attentive. Â I have never had to ask to have my beverage refilled, they just do it automatically. Â
If you need good food and good service served up in a friendly atmosphere, Doherty's Pub is the place to go!
Love the beer flights here. They also carry the hard cider I like. Servers are very friendly. I like the smaller room off to the side that is quieter than the main room. Tried 3 kinds of wings, all good. Nachos are ok but the bottom layer needs more cheese. I ordered a reuben with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut so it is more of a Rachel. The sandwich was very good but I was very deflated when I got my soft sweet potato tots. A tot of any kind HAS to be crispy. Way better in theory than execution. Overall this was an ok visit
Review Source:No babies in the bar area! Â just so you know.
so many beers so many beers! really love this place + it is KILLER for brunch. so so good. they don't mess around with portions + the staff is generally nice...
they also know how to do st. patty's day right!
if you need  to have a diff beer every time you go in, this is your kinda place!
I usually frequent Doherty's for trivia night on Sundays with a group of friends. Â After having been several times I can say that I will continue to go for trivia nights but it's unlikely I would opt to go here just for the food or drinks.
The Pros:
Trivia
Decent amount of seating
Decent vegetarian selections
They never seem inconvenienced by my regular party of 12
The Cons:
Inconsistent quality
Lack of communication among the staff
Waitstaff lacks basic knowledge of food on their menu and also common drinks
Parking
Each time I go I order something vegetarian - I've had sandwiches, veggie burgers, etc. and usually a gin gimlet. Â The food is sometimes 4 star quality, sometimes 1 star quality. Â The drinks are inconsistent. Â I always get the same thing, but somehow it comes served in a variety of glasses, sometimes it's a generous pour and sometimes I wonder if there's any alcohol at all in the glass.
This is not the dining experience I get excited to pay for. Â But, I come for the trivia and to hang out with friends not necessarily the food or drinks.
Went there for trivia on a Sunday night....unassuming facade, it is nice and cozy on the inside. Â Â Just a regular pub but with a large selection of beers and drafts. Â Â They have a trifold menu just highlighting their beers.
I had a burger and it was moist and juicy. Â My friend got the nachos and there were Terrible !! Â No taste at all. Â I love Nachos...and I could not eat but a couple of bites....The platter was not oven baked nor placed in the oven, so the cheese was not crusty and golden...most likely, they melted the cheese in a microwave... Â Other dishes that I saw around looked decent...fish and chips, salads, etc.
Nice parking area behind the pub...
I love Doherty's, especially the staff, such great people there. Â I think they changed chef's a few months back though, which was good and bad. Â There are a lot of new and interesting menu items, great pasta dishes and wraps and veggie / vegan options. Â The Mona Lisa Sandwich with the white bean tempeh is amazing! Â What I have always seen as the staple of Doherty's, aside from the beer, is the Corned Beef. Â It was always perfect, I ordered a Reuben every time I went in and loved them all, but now that's not the case. Â The meat is heavily seasoned with cloves and it overpowers any other flavors. Â I'm so disappointed, but there are other great items on the menu. Â The pulled pork is fantastic, and the brunch menu rocks! Â I just wish the corned beef was the same as it used to be...I could go for a good Reuben right now!
Review Source:Great food, great beer, good brunch (try the corned beef hash - it's always amazing) - Doherty's is always a place to go when you want good food without any fuss. Their Bloody Marys at brunch could definitely be stronger, but other than that you will never be disappointed here.
Jump in grab a few apps and try a flight of beers, join their beer club - time well spent!
Love being able to come here for brunch on weekend mornings without a long wait..but we have a love/hate relationship with the waitstaff. Sometimes, you get lucky and your waitress is amazing. Other times, we wish we braved the long wait at Julian's. Decent amount of vegan options here-if your waitress writes down your order correctly, you'll love what you've ordered. If not, prepare to receive the non-vegan version of whatever it is you ordered, and then be prepared to wait 30 minutes while they whip up a new one. Also be prepared for the waitress to be extremely crabby about it. The younger waitresses are SUPER nice (we love Jane!), but the older ones are kinda nasty.
We usually go in groups of 4, and the 2 vegans in our group have had to wait for our food and then eat it alone because everyone else is finished  SIX times in the past two months. Not sure what is so hard about ordering oatmeal made with soymilk..every single time, I receive a bowl of oatmeal made with real milk and a pitcher of soy on the side. WTF?
Still a better choice than the Garden Grille on a Sunday. The non-vegans among us love love love the food at Doherty's.
I've been to Doherty's a few times, but it's never one of my go-to places. In fact, it's so un-spectacular that it doesn't cross my mind until somebody else suggests it.
The beer selection is the highlight. For sure. I love being able to try new things. But that's about all the place has going for it. Oh, and the service. The people who work here are VERY nice.
But the food! Ugh. The last time I was here, I had a vegetarian quesadilla. The veggies were disgustingly oily. Every other time I've eaten here, I've left with that "not hungry, but not satisfied either" feeling. It's just so generic.
Generic. Boring. Whatever. I give a resounding "meh" to Doherty's. Sorry.
If you like great beer, great food, and a great bar atmosphere- you're definitely missing out if you've never been here.
They have an ever-changing beer list, Â where new ones are added almost daily, and others are "on the way out." It gives you a chance to try new beers each time you go, so you really can't get bored with your options.
Also, I've had food there multiple times, and I've never been disappointed. Their turkey sandwich is amazing, and they have sweet potato tator tots which are phenomenal.
Doherty's is definitely my favorite Irish Pub in RI, and believe me, the list of Irish Pub's that I've been too in this teeny state is quite extensive.
*Update*
It has been a LONG time since I've visited East Ave and wow things have changed.
Obviously, endless beer selection still goes on and on. Â I should've joined the beer club when I first moved because I would've won something amazing by now.
But now *finally* the food and seating can keep up.
There are at least 3 vegetarian entrees, plus sandwich options and pasta for the veg-friendly diner, not to mention the giant vegan-friendly buffet on the weekend. Â I thought the BBQ tofu was really well-seasoned, plus it was served on a giant bed of sweet potato tots to pop all night.
The perpetually crowded bar area is opened up with tables, but the real bonus is the outdoor deck dining area. Â It must be nice in the summer but it also creates much needed seating in the winter (and even then there is still a wait).
Doherty's doesn't have to be all about the beer anymore, but it still has great beer. Â I don't venture into Paw-tucket often, but this is worth it.
SOOOO MANY beers. I love the selection of beers and their brunch had vegan options for the SO. Try the buffalo fries they are awesome.  32oz Bloody marys and Mimosa's with brunch for only six bucks The food and beer selection are better here than at Sullivans. Although I like Sullivans, they only had one  vegan option.
This isn't a place I really see myself hanging out at on a Saturday night (although I have). It's more of the breakfast/lunch/meet up for a drink or two.
I am a huge fan. I have been a few times and love the beer menu. So many good beers in one place. Though I signed up for the beer club when I went to trivia almost 2 weeks ago and was told within a week I would be signed up for it but have not received anything in my email. Other than that it is a great pub.
Very friendly staff, trivia was great and well run. The food is very good. Above average pub food by far. The buffalo fries are differently good.
I am excited to work my way through the beer menu once they sign me up for the club! I plan on making trivia a regular event!
Went here for Trivia on a Sunday, but this review is just of the food/menu.
First off, I don't drink beer, but the beer selection looked great. Another person in my party was pleased to find that the bar had some obscure gin she had been searching for everywhere.
There were tons of options on the menu, and what I liked is that there were plenty of vegetarian options, and the menu says for many dishes and sandwiches you can substitute grilled tofu or tempeh sausage.
I got a wrap and it was decent. My companion got a veggie burger, and although she didn't think it was made in-house, it was good.
Nachos are HUGE. Calamari was good, but too much for two people as an appetizer.
We'll probably be back for trivia, and perhaps brunch sometime.
Love. Love. Love. Love. Love.
The beer selection is just plain amazing. I'm a beer lover and this place is pretty much heaven.
We went for trivia the other night and had a great time. Although it does seem like something is missing since they started doing their own trivia and not using Wrik entertainment anymore. We missed Mike.
Our waitress, I think her name was Melanie was awesome. She was super attentive, joked around with the table and made our experience even better.
I had the nachos, they were huge and fed the whole table and my friend had the veggie quesadilla and he really liked it.
The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable and it feels like the kind of place where everyone could eventually know your name.
I will definitely be going back again and again and again.
My s/o and I were out in the Pawtucket area and desired an Irish neighborhood bar to belly up at. The place didn't look like much on the outside, but inside it was hopping, obviously a neighborhood favorite.
Immediately we were struck by the number of beers on tap and the innovative fusion ideas, like the Dirty Hoe, half Murphy's Stout and half Hoegaarden! Seriously delicious. The service was a bit slow, despite the fact that we were seated near an enclave of waitresses doing sidework, but our server was pleasant and we weren't in a hurry.
I ordered a Reuben, one of the best in recent memory, and could only finish half before I was waving my white flag. The s/o's boiled dinner was yummy according to him, and I can at least say that it was the least disgusting-looking boiled dinner I've ever seen. Also, their corned beef is freaking delicious, and despite my aversion to the boiled dinner I even had a slice of the boiled stuff off my companion's plate to see how it stacked up to what was in my Reuben. It passed muster.
I'm a fan.
An Irish pub with VEGAN options?!?!?!?!? Have I died and gone to a vegan Irish girls heaven?!?!?! First of all I am a sucker for a good pub, especially a good Irish pub that is somewhat family friendly. I don't have kids or anything but I guess it makes me feel nostalgic. This place really fits the bill. Now the topper for me is that they have vegan options. Holy sh&*^$##!!!!!! I mean, honestly, I haven't been able to eat anything but fries in an Irish pub since going vegan 10 years ago. Never-mind that their vegan options include BRUNCH items!!! It's nearly impossible to find vegan brunch options anywhere but totally impossible at a pub! I ordered the vegan Benedict, which was pretty good. The presentation was lovely. If you're into beer then this place is for you- tons of options. This place is great and definitely a hidden gem in Rhode Island.
Review Source:Any pub I can find pumpkin beer at in the summer is going to get a high rating from me. Any bar I can find Southern Tier on tap at is going to get a high rating from me and guess what? Doherty's has Pumking Southern Tier, my favorite beer in the entire universe, on tap along with literally hundreds of other variety's. I've encouraged friends passing through RI to take a quick stop in here  just to get to sample some of Doherty's selection. The food and service at Doherty's are a bit mixed- I always end up ordering a loaded grilled cheese with a salad when I eat here because I've had such mixed experiences with every other non-burger item on the menu. The more exotic sounding the food, the worse it's tended to be- I'd recommend sticking to the usual pub fare (sandwiches, fried apps, etc.) and you'll probably be fine. I've never had a slow waitress at this pub but I've definitely had a couple of rude ones, especially when the subject of splitting bills has come up but only on nights when there's a special event going on, like trivia.
Oh, trivia. During the summer when my hours change and getting up for work the following morning isn't as much of an issue for me I play trivia with some friends here against some pretty sharp competition. While the questions the host asks aren't too challenging, the caliber of folks looking to play are. College students, college professors, and a whole other range of professional-grade Smart People go here to drink, be merry, and show of their shiny IQs against strangers looking to do the same. My only criticism of the way trivia's run here is that there's no limit on the size of teams and when a team is over fifteen people it makes the game less fun for smaller, more modest sized groups. If you're in Pawtucket and looking for a good burger, beer and atmosphere, Doherty's is definitely for you.
I love this place!! I have been here a a good number of times over the past few years. With over 82 beers on draft that are constantly rotating how can you go wrong? For some reason I feel guilty if I order a bud light...
In all of the times I have come I have never had a bad experience, the food has always been good and I have had some of the best waitresses. With a beer list the size of a table mat I can be a little indecisive at times but the waitresses/bartenders have always offered me sage advice. I have always stuck to the sandwiches which are delicious but I am sure the meals are good too! If you get a sandwich, I would recommend the buffalo fries they are simply amazing and may or may not change your life!
The only drawback with the place is on a busy night the parking can be pain but it should not deter you from trying Doherty's!!
Went friday night with friends and had a great time, East Ave., always a lively atmosphere combined with beer flights - what is better than that?!
I actually started out with a Harpoon Pumpkin which was outside my usually lame bud light esque beer tastes but it fit the season and the mood just right w/ a great taste, glad I tried it!
For dinner I had the burger and potato wedges - the burger was as ordered, yummy and the wedges were perfecly seasoned and crispy.
I can't remember what everyone else had but well all left full and happy :)
Our waiter seemed very busy but managed to be there every time we needed him at the right time - he did a great job keeping the food and drinks coming!
Always a great place to grab a bite and a beer!
This place is great.! Â No where will you find better pub food or friendlier service and the superb free soup at lunch is a lunch special that is hard to beat! Â
Be great if they had wifi but outside of that; you can't beat this place. Â You may have to wait for a seat. .but well worth it whether for a midday lunch or to watch a game at night!
I started off a lukewarm patron just in it for the beers, but Doherty's has gradually worked it's way into my heart.
C'mon... the beer. 80-something? Awesome. I love that the beer list doubles as your paper menu so it's always there with you, whispering for you to sample one more unknown brew or a favorite that you can't find via keg at any other bar in the land. Always in constant rotation and in celebration of the season at hand. The servers are (mostly) helpful to answer questions about the beers and or give you a little shot to test before committing to a pint. And then there's also the sampler option.
On the food: for starters, the menu is too big and all over the place. There are two confusing separate menu sections for sandwiches. And why is an Irish-themed pub serving southwest-quesadillas, anyway? Not my favorite spot for a burger, but I've been won over by the house-made tempeh and white bean burgers with a bit of kick that make a great veggie reuben.
The roomy and chill back porch is a welcome alternative to the oft crammed and noisy interior when catching up with friends, and they've got the windows sealed up to stretch it into fall's nip in the air.
The parking lot in the back is frightening tight and confusing squeeze. On a low-key night it's workable but when the place is jammed I'm all for parking down the street or across the street at CVS for a worry- and nick-free dining/drinking experience.
Ohh Doherty's why has it taken me so long to come here. Me and my bud finally made it here Saturday night. We got here around 730ish and the place was pretty packed which I've been warned about but we were lucky and were able to get seats at the bar. Right away we were greeted by Bill the bartender very nice and polite. Be prepared the beer menu is HUGE, literally took us 10mins before we even ordered our beers, 82 beers on tap what do you expect?
Honestly I don't even remember the name of the beers I got. But i know they were delicious. Now I'm not a beer connoisseur so i have no idea about 95% of the beers in the menu. But Bill sure does, he was a awesome guy.. first and foremost don't take anything he says to heart. Hes a ball buster and me and my friends are too so we instantly loved the guy. after we got a few jokes out of the way he went to work on helping us pick our beers. This guy KNOWS his stuff. I had told him I usually drink Coors and he goes off about this beer from Germany oldest brewery in the world took a year reservation and all this other stuff.. but plain and simple i loved it, couldn't tell you what it was called though hah
The atmosphere in there is awesome. i don't know why i just got good vibes from the place. we were seated next to a couple at the bar and they were really nice and talkative with us helped us pick a few beers out and this older dude who was just really down to earth, big sports guy, real cool dude.
honestly go check it out if you like beer.. they will definitely have something you'd like.
CHEERS !!
This would be a really cool bar to visit at night--the outdoor area looked great, and the beer selection was truly impressive.
I have only been for brunch--the omelette I got was really good, but the service was pretty surly, and it was clear they were eager to rush us out. I would come back for drinks someday though!
Doherty's serves up a nice mix of quality craft beer and excellent pub food. Â
I'm a big craft beer fan as well as a foodie (out of the DDD mold) and I usually have to get my beer and food at different places. Â Too many great beer bars serve mediocre food and too many great restaurants serve crappy beer. Â But Doherty's bring the two together.
They have more taps than I could ever get to with a pretty solid selection that includes lots of local, New England beers. Â They also do "Firkin Wednesdays" with a selected cask beer on tap.
The food is typical of what you'd find in a pub: burgers, wings, fish & chips, steak tips, etc. Â But they use quality ingredients and prepare them very well. Â I especially like that they have a long list of burgers that you can order as a regular burger, a turkey burger, a chicken breast or vegetarian. Â The list is so good I always have trouble picking one.
While it might be a tad pricey, Doherty's is a great place with a comfortable atmosphere.
I love this place! I come here frequently for happy hours and it's got the most extensive beer selection of many places in the Providence area. More importantly, the beers on tap are rotated/changed frequently, so you can try many different beers/brewers without leaving the comfort and loving embrace of your favorite pub. =D
The servers are knowledgeable about the beer selection and will often recommend something based on what you like. Great bar, seating and they just added a new covered outdoor patio-ish area.
I don't eat full meals here as often as I do in other places, mostly appetizers. Having said that, their wing night is something awesome ($0.25 wings!). Also, no matter what, you MUST get their buffalo fries. Epic!
Only downsides: gets crowded real quickly (even on weeknights - a sure sign of an awesome place) and parking is a pain. Don't be tempted to park at the Dr's office next door - you WILL get towed!
Very, very good. Had the black n blue burger and sweet potato fries. I asked for extra Cajun seasoning on the burger which was done to just the right amount. The fries were great, heavy on the sweet potato and crispy. The blue cheese could have been better but the burger was a perfect medium rare.
The service was friendly, prompt but not constantly berating us. Our server came right over when the drink was getting low.
Great beer selection.
There was a birthday in another room and the whole staff sang which was really sweet.
The semi-outdoor seating area is good on a warm night and there is ample parking.
I'll definitely be coming back; looking forward to the wings and corned beef and cabbage.
Only been here for brunch/breakfast...once a long time ago and then yesterday decided that we needed to try something totally different. Â I remember people talking about this and decided to give it a whirl.
DON"T BE SCARED when you drive up...it's very unassuming and looks shady from the outside but go for it. Â Parking is in the back and they just added on a back desk outside which would have been nice but it was about 95 and humid. Â The inside is wood lined with TV's and separate dining and bar areas. Â We were greeted with servers who were totally unpretentious and let us sit wherever we wanted to. Â The downfall to that is sometimes "diner type" servers could give a s*** about how well they are serving and just concern themselves with doing their job and that's that. Â
Our breakfast menu was so full of variety and mouth-watering items. Â We got the famous 32oz mimosas. Â It's rare in RI to find a place that offers cheaper/specials on brunch cocktails. Â It came in a mini water pitcher...HUGE! Â Only $6 too...I almost fell out of the booth! Â I ordered the Mamacita - which was jalepeno corn bread topped with chili, cheddar cheese and over-easy eggs with home fries. Â OMG - I died and gone to brunch HEAVEN. Â The cornbread was moist and had a nice little soak of the chili, the egg yolks dripped into the chili and it made for the perfect bite over and over again. Â
I want to go on Tuesday nights for Trivia and check out dinner and do the beer samples next time!
Great beer selection, despite the fact that I always order 'gansetts. Good food and good service, but the reason I really like this place is the feel.
It's warm inside. People are having fun. There's some noise, but it's a great sort of noise.
I can walk into this place with friends or by myself and it just sort of feels like I'm going to have a good time. There's a lot of wood and the booths are comfy.
It's funny: the first time I ever went to Doherty's was a while back on a first date with a woman I met through an online dating service. I knew, that night, that I had found something special... a good bar to go to after work.
Sundays are best. Â Their new brunch menu is outstanding (mathces Julian's and Nick's on Broadway). Â Plus, the Eglish Premiere Soccer League is on in the morning (don't forget to sample a 20 ounce Mimosa or Bloody Mary), followed by American football or baseball in the afternoon. Â Add to that the 85 drafts on tap, and I am asking if I can bring my recliner next week.
Oh, by the way. Â The portions were designed by the owner, who happens to go by the moniker of Fat Jack, so you won't go away hungry.
This place is as close to Nirvana as I've ever gotten.
1. Incredible beer selection. Simply fantastic, and it rotates on what seems like a daily basis. Check out "first chance" for the new offerings and keep an eye on "last chances" as well. If I'm not mistaken, this place used to be called "first and last" a million years ago.
2. Good service. I'm a regular, but the bartenders and waitstaff treat everyone in a really respectful and friendly manner.
3. Free soup until 3pm every day. NeedISayMore? Come ON.
3a. Delicious corn muffins as well.
4. Food is surprisingly good and creative for an Irish pub.
5. BUCKET mimosas and bloody marys for their weekend brunches.
6. Affordable.
7. Completely unpretentious. Good local place.
8. New outdoor deck. Is it summer yet?
9. Very knowledgable staff...these people know their beer.
10. Did I mention the free soup?
Between the food, beer, liquor, atmosphere and servers... is there a cot in the back? Because I might as well move in.
The food is excellent for a bar. Â I cannot say this enough. Â Sure, some of the items are overpriced, but not the ones that we like. Â The quesadillas, mussels, buffalo fries, sandwiches and other misc items are beyond reasonable and really good. Â This is not a microwaved chicken cutlet sandwich one-man-operation back there, which I have personally witnessed in a bar. Â There is an *actual kitchen* in this joint.
Drinks? Â I am not qualified enough to describe the extensive selection, not just of beer, but also of spirits. Â You gotta see the menu for yourself.
Service... can we talk about Mary for a second? Â She's a goddess and a gift to all hungry and thirsty people. Â Mary has on numerous occasions made awesome beverage suggestions, ones that I continue to order to this day. Â Also, the *one* time I had something negative to say about a dish I order frequently, she had the kitchen slightly modify their prep method and it made it 1000 times better. Â She's exceptionally personable and has had me howling with laughter. Â Another favorite, Jess, is no longer there and my heart yearns for her. Â *sigh*
We recently got our asses up early enough to try the brunch, and whoa, were we surprised. Â Excellent menu, HUGE mimosa/bloody marys, large vegan/veggie choices, and a nice variety. Â The atmosphere loses a bit during the day. Â Even if you're feeling awake and peppy, you still sort of get the sense everyone in the place is nursing a hangover. Â But there's something about that I kinda like...
The VERY FEW negatives: we've had a couple run-ins with servers who either 1) got orders wrong (ex. blueberry vodka was ordered, regular vodka was delivered), or 2) acted annoyed we even sat down and had the audacity to order anything. Â However, these occurrences are few and far between. Â Also, some nights are annoyingly busy (ex. wing night) and there's no room to wait, or too loud (live music or trivia). Â Although sometimes these annoyances crop up, it's nothing that can keep us away.
Doherty's gives you two types of experiences: typical dive-y bar with tons of tv's and beer selection with better than average food. Then there's the Irish brunch with giant bloody mary's and mimosas.
I've only been here for wing night a handful of times and I remember them being decent. The beers were more memorable at that point.
This review is mostly about the breakfast/brunch. Like many other reviewers have mentioned, the service here isn't anything incredible. The food on the other hand, will surprise you.
First time around, I tried the "Erin Gobraless." Yup, read that name again, slowly. It's pretty hilarious.
The dish came with 2 eggs any style, 2 bangers, 2 rashers, black & white pudding, grilled tomato and toast...all for about $10. Perfect for a hangover breakfast. I honestly don't remember specifics about this dish except that it was huge and I was stuffed at the end of it. If you're absolutely starving, get this dish.
The second time was a much tastier experience. The Mamacita is probably one of my favorite breakfast dishes..EVER. Here's what is in it: grilled jalapeno cornbread, chili, cheddar and two eggs sunny side up with a sprinkling on fresh cilantro.
Mamacita comes in a small cast iron skillet sitting on a bigger plate with a side of homefries. It's like a tasty Mexican eggs Benedict. The chili is what makes this dish really shine. It's meaty, hearty and fresh. This glorious dish is about $9.
Whatever you decide to get, I promise you it'll keep you full for hours. Try Doherty's if you're looking for a different type of brunch joint.
We went twice to Doherty's, complete different experience each time.
Sunday Brunch:
What a nightmare but take it with a grain of salt: Â we were hungry and somewhat in a hurry but 2 hours to get 2 sandwiches is utterly ridiculous. The place was packed and the waitstaff appeared less than effective. The food was good, not a problem but it didn't really matter after such a long wait. We will never do this again.
Monday Wing Night:
Oh yeah! We had a great time, quick service and delicious wings!! We had fun and the beer selection was amazing, we will definitely avoid the Sunday morning and do the evening again.
Down point is the parking lot, what a nightmare if someone blocks you in with their car, try parking on the street for easier access.
Updating a classic haunt based on a number of visits since. Â A few downgrades to unhappily report. Â The pours there are being more policed by the owner's family than ever, there's honest and then there's stingy. Â The pricing seems high for pub grub. Â The quality is low(er) for pub grub (wilted salad with slimy green pieces). Â Pricing is fast approaching Red Stripe! Â
I still love this place, but seems its suffered under completely new staff and manager.
