When you take a gander at this lovely place online you'll notice that they really only have a dinner menu and they have a small mention somewhere that they have brunch on the weekends. Most people are probably familiar with their dinners (which I'm not since I haven't been yet!). Parking can be an issue when you come to this place since it's mainly street parking and for the time being they are doing construction on one side of the road. I always park on 9th street which is a branch of the main.

They freshly print their menus every weekend and will change the items on it depending on what the freshest ingredients are. They have things from eggs benedict to french toast to fried chicken sandwiches (the betty!). I have had both their fried chicken sandwich and their porkbelly eggs benedict. Both were fantastic, juicy and sinfully delicious! Best of all, I got to have a glass of mimosa with it =)

Come in at 10 AM and you'll have no wait. New menu every weekend!

I have been to Cook and Brown quite a few times, for dinner, weekend brunch, and also to hang at the bar. First, the good stuff. Their cocktails are really good, although a little bit on the pricey side for Providence ($12+). I like the cocktails here more so than I do at the Avery. I recently happened upon the $20 burger, beer & bourbon special on Wednesdays, and their burger is, IMO, the best in the city. It's also an excellent value, and the bartender gave me my bourbon as a very good old fashioned.

The cons: The draft beer is expensive and only comes in 12 oz pours. It is $5 for 12 oz of Peak's IPA. The brunch menu is pretty good - the brunch salad has been amazing. But I was not a fan of the pork belly benedict as it was just all fat on the pork belly.

For dinner I think some items are amazing. For example I had an amazing ragu/bolognese with pappardelle. But my husband had a scallop dish that was just "eh" and another friend's entree (the giannone chicken) was totally cold by the time it came.

So its kind of hit or miss for me. I wish they would serve the burger EVERY day, even at just the bar, because then I would be going here much more often. But with the burger only being served on Wednesday, I might limit my future visits to Wednesdays and brunch.

Brunch, round 2. I am still surprised no one comes here for brunch because it seems to be so popular for dinner. I loved the mini rhubarb pies and sausage biscuit. The biscuit is heavy though so I recommend the greens instead of homefries. The salad itself is very good quality but be sure to get the dressing on the side. Whoever dressed that salad never tasted it and I was choking on the very harsh flavors what seemed to be a ton of salt and lemon. It was really that bad. If enough oil had been added to make a light dressing it would be good but i have never had a salad that tasted like pure salt so I don't know what happened there. dressing on the side. We got the pear tea cakes again this time and they were a bit overcooked, kinda hard on the outside, unlike last time. I didn't finish it. The whip cream they use is great here though. Service is good. This place could easily be a 5 but the last couple times they made some odd common sense mistakes for a restaurant of this caliber. .
