Fat Belly's Pub

Whenever I am in Providence for work I stop by to get an Irish Rootbeer Float.  The bartenders are really friendly and are always coming up with great drinks.

We went to Fat Belly's last night for some pre-St. Paddy's day drinks.  It's an ok place with a fun atmosphere but I don't know that I'll head back.

We ordered drinks at the bar and were served promptly.  The beer was a little pricey.  Once we had our drinks, we sat down at an empty table.  We kept trying to flag down a server to bring us food menus but after 45 minutes, we went to get them ourselves.  It took another 30 minutes to actually be able to place an order...we had to physically grab the server when he was at the table behind us.

The BBQ chicken nachos were yummy and arrived in a reasonable amount of time, especially considering how busy it was, but once the food arrived, we never saw our server again.  We had to ask another server to bring our check.

There's only one bathroom for women upstairs so it sucks when it's busy - had to wait in a line amidst the crowd of bar folks.  The up side is that the atmosphere is fun and the people are friendly, so waiting isn't a big deal - more like a time to socialize.

I walked in on a Saturday night, and the room was barely filled. It left me wondering why the bar was so dead at 11... Until I discovered that there is an upstairs as well... (Awkward)

Besides being completely packed, I enjoyed the vibe quite a bit. There was a little dance area for those who feel the need to bust a move, but plenty of tables to just chill and talk as well. Fairly average beer selection on tap, but they make some pretty good drinks (the tiramisu martini was really good, even though my manhood was nowhere to be found...)

I can only somewhat complain about the bar service... Yes, it was fairly busy. But there were several incidents where I made direct eye contact with the bartender and was completely ignored. That seemed to be the case even for the attractive females I was with; that's when you know it's really bad.

All in all, definitely wouldn't mind coming back.
