I'm a semi-regular here, and really enjoy it.
1) Beer. They generally have 6-8 beers on tap at all times, and it seems like every time I come in, they have brewed a new batch/flavor of beer. Right now I've been enjoying the blueberry beer. I suggest the beer sampler, then go for a glass.
2) Food. Never had an issue with the food here, in fact, I love it. They use the spent-grains from the brewing process in their pizza crust (very original and delicious). I can understand why people might think their menu is small, but I think that's a trend many restaurants have been embracing lately. They still have everything from steak, chicken, burgers, to salads, paninis, and soup.
3) Environment/Service. This restaurant is in the lower level of an old train station. Vaulted ceiling, cement floor, wood beams: you get the brewery feel here. Service has always been on point, knowledgeable, and friendly.
Lastly, a lot of people compare this place to Trinity. I love local beer, so I've been to Trinity several times. I have to say that I enjoy Unions beer much better, as well as their atmosphere. Try them both out, I'm sure you'll come back to Union.
Beer was blah. Â Not flavorful. Â They were closing early and did not want to seat anyone. Â Now they were closing at 9pm and it was 8:20. Â Really?
I was told they were not seating anyone else and that last call had already been made. Â We only wanted drinks so I asked for the manager to come off to discuss it with me.
We did get seated but I could tell they were not happy about it.
I had hoped, Â like many reviewers, for better beer. Â I was was disappointed.
