This used to be a great place, back when it was El Campesino. Â We went there for over 12 years. Â The change to Don Pollo was a horrible mistake ... the Mexican food tastes bland and is served cold, and the southern cuisine is greasy and tasteless.
Prices have spiked, as well.  The new décor is nice, but there wasn't anything wrong with the El Campesino décor.  The waitstaff does exactly that ... they make you wait.
Breaks my heart that we have lost such a long time "go-to" place. Â We had many good memories ... but just like many of the original staff ... we are moving to El Patron. Â They still serve actual Mexican food.
Adios.
The food tastes good, even though it's heavy on the salt for my taste. (I should mention - we only tried the Mexican.) The service is just fine. My main issue was with the prices. The portion sizes were fine for me, but we should have paid 25-35% less than we did for what we got. For example, I got a 1.5" x 1" x 4.5" veggie burrito for $8. And they forgot to include the lettuce and tomatoes. We had perhaps 1/3 cup of cheese dip for $4. Not a good value at all.
