We had high hopes! When my husband and I got into town we were looking for a unique hangout place with good beer and food. Unfortunately, this was not the place. It wasn't horrible, but it didn't speak out language at all. Food was good. Beer was okay. With all the choices out there I probably won't be back.
Review Source:Every time I come here I have extraordinary service! This place is so AMAZING! It's the kind of place where I walk in and I feel like I'm waiting to hear them say"RONIIIIIIIIII" ....Its so cool and the bartenders are always on their game!I've been in some places where when you ask if they can change one of the Tv's to a different station and they kinda get lil attitudes and i'm like "dude there r 10 tv's !!really?but not this place they're always so accomodating!..The outside patio is perfect great atmosphere inside n out and I just love when the chef brings out my food!...Big PROPS TO STACY(bartender) I love u girl! My closing words are.....$3 well drinks all day everYday! DALLAS STOP SLEEPING ON THE DRAFT HOUSE!!!!
WHOOP WHOOP!
Wide range of Draft Beers and not on the expensive side. They have a small menu but i never had anything or bar attender never ask" do you like to order something from the menu,,?.Just a go to place for beer only, including some of the local brews.Bar attenders always nice but some classless people sitting on the bar and making stupid lowd comments on a regular basis,so dont go here for a date.Lots of TVs to watch your game.Go for drinks. Â Don't get confused, this place is not for couples, hungry people, fancy people, families, or newcomers.
Review Source:The beer is good and the bartender was nice, but the crowd was seriously sketchy. There was a dude with face tattoos who sat with his friend at the bar and just stared at people, then there was the stinky guy... He's a regular, and the dude smelled so bad you could tell when he was coming in the back door from smoking. He smelled so bad the bartender gave us a discount for putting up with it. Four days later I was at Zenna next door and he was outside the bar picking up un-smoked cigarette butts and wearing the same clothing he was wearing 4 days earlier.
I want to like this place but they need to do something about the face tattoo'd thug and the stinky guy
Went there tonight with two friends. Â The bartender was terrible. Â Served me a drink with broken glass in the bottom of the cup, and when I sent it back, offered to pay for it, but still left it on my tab. Â When I finally got the replacement drink, it was not well made, and tasted stale and old. Â It took 40 minutes for him to come check on us again, and allow my friends to order more drinks, and we had to ask him 3 times for a glass of water before it was finally given to us. Â He was also very rude, and insulted my friends, mocking their laughs, and making jokes about their weight, extremely rude!!!! Â I will never go back here, as I don't particularly enjoy cutting my throat open on glass, for a sub par drink, from a bartender who thinks its fun to mock people who are paying him money.
Review Source:Solid bar, lots of beer choices, good service. Â This is my go-to bar. Â The bar itself is lined with TV and it has wifi, so it's a pretty solid choice for most events. Â The food is even pretty tasty and the prices are good.
They serve everything from the super-cheap PBR (and it's especially cheap here) to much nicer high-end beers (still a reasonable price!).
In summary, it's not fancy and I wouldn't recommend it for a date or anything like that, but if you are just looking for a bar to hang out at and maybe catch a game, you couldn't make a better choice.
This is a review that is long overdue and that  I am so happy to write! Â
So pleased I went back.  My last visit  was so disappointing  because the menu had been downgraded.  Now, the menu has been revamped and I can gladly bump  it back to  4 stars this time :)
Dropped in one Saturday afternoon around 1500. Â Only 4-5 folks sitting at the huge bar. Â I chose a comfy booth and settled in with my Kindle looking forward to getting to the exciting part of my current book.
Mandy was there quickly with a friendly cheery greeting to take my drink order. Â One Heineken please with lime. Â And, it was delivered frosty and cold. Â Off to a great start.
I pursued the  menu and was excited to see some appealing new items; Tilapia and Shrimp, Po-Boys, many burger and sandwich offerings, individual pizzas, and some typical bar offerings like nachos, dips and chips, etc.  Very nicely done Draft House! (Very reasonable prices for some better than average bar food options)
I was in one of my rare moods for a burger, so  opted for the Jack Daniel's burger, adding grilled onions, extra tomato, and a side of mustard and ketchup, which comes with fries.  Wait....do I see thinly sliced onion rings on the menu?  Yep, there they were, so I subbed these favorite calorie laden morsels for the fries.
The 1/2 lb burger was huge, with the extra tomato stacked high, on a soft fluffy grilled bun. Â Only needed more salt which was easy to fix. Â The meat was perfectly cooked, with just a hint of pinkness, which I like. The veges were excellent, Â generous slices of the red tomatoes, crisp and cold lettuce. Â The chef apparently knows how to put this little bit of heaven together. Â For one who eats America's favorite food rarely, this burger was good.
OMG, those onion rings were outlandishly tasty.  These were freshly & thinly  sliced and battered ever so lightly. Not humongous overly thick  slices. The onions were tender, the batter the perfect degree of crispness.  No way these came from a package in the freezer.  Absolutely Delicious, some of the best rings I've ever had..  Strings are my favorite style, and these were very close.
Service by Mandy was friendly and appropriately attentive. Â There was only one downside to the visit, and I offer this as constructive criticism.
The food was delivered by the Chef, who wasn't the cheeriest folk I've ever encountered. No greeting, no "enjoy your meal", not a word.
I had no napkins, no utensils, no ketchup and no salt & pepper. Â When asking him for these items, he seemed annoyed. Â He brought back one napkin and a fork. Â No knife, no ketchup, no salt & pepper. Â Another annoyed look on his face when asking for those again. Â He returned with the ketchup and salt and pepper. Â As he walked away I noticed I still had no knife, but decided not to ask him for anything else. Â Caught Mandy's attention at the bar and asked her for the utensil, which she promptly brought to my table. Â
Perhaps the Chef was just having a less than great day; however, my encounter with him was surprising, as I've always had pleasant friendly service from other staffers. Â He apparently performs well in the kitchen; maybe he just doesn't prefer dealing with the customers?
Not discouraged by this one bump in the road. Â I am looking forward to going back soon for another relaxing visit on that comfy patio before Mother Nature turns up the thermostat :)
12/2011 - Update (2nd visit)
I braved The Draft House for a second time (over a year after my first mistake) with a friend hoping that they'd improved over time. Â Nope. Â In fact, it's even worse now.
First thing ordered was a blue moon which smelled rancid and tasted worse. Â Sent it back and the bartender actually had the gall to say it was fine. Â Now, I get that some patrons sometimes "work the system" or don't know beer well enough to know good from bad, but (1) it's Blue Moon, not a craft beer - Blue Moon is a mass-produced beverage made by Coors that is widely available and has a consistant taste to it. Â If it was a Maredsous 8, it'd be a different point entirely. Â But it's not. Â (2) I'm a very seasoned craft beer drinker and have a developed palate for multiple types of alcohol, and when I smell a bad beer I can tell you instantly. Â (3) the server obviously had no clue about beer and shouldn't offer advice without knowledge.
The second draft beer attempted was even worse. Â It was a disaster and there was something in the bottom of the glass.
We left to go eat elsewhere because if they couldn't get beer right at a place called "The Draft House", there was little doubt the food would be disgusting.
I suspect that the big problem is knowledge on how to keep beer lines clean appropriately, but the issue could be something else. Â I suspect dirty lines or lines that are sanitized and then not cleaned out well (leaving bleach in the lines). Â There definitely was a smell of bleach in the restaurant. Â Part two is training of staff to (1) not argue with customers that know more than they do, and (2) know something about the product they are pushing.
I can assure you, I will not go back to this disgusting place. Â On a Friday night, only 5 or 6 people were in there which should tell you something.
PLEASE do NOT go there!

10/2011 David S: your reply makes me sad - now I have to add to the list of things to fix that you have a willingness to take honest criticism and fix things, and that you READ reviews for COMPREHENSION instead of just spouting off uninformed retorts. Again, there were fewer people in the bar then there were tv's. The tv I was the only person watching was switched to news that was already on the TVs directly next to it. Â And when the manager finally checked on my empty glass, I mentioned the transgression and it was immediately switched back.
At least try to understaand the situation before defending poor actions. This place could be great but I was on the fence, and honestly with that attitude, I now will not be going back
I went here for the first time the other day with a friend because we wanted to try a new place out. Â I really really really liked this bar because it felt more of a local bar than the usual chain. Â It wasn't busy, so our service was great. Â Our drinks were STRONG, so I know we did not get ripped off of the alcohol poured into the drink. Â The salsa they serve has a different twist to it, it's really fresh and homemade. Â It definitely had a different taste to it, I haven't decided yet if I am a fan. Â I may have to go back and try it again. Â We split an order of the chicken quesadillas, and they were DELICIOUS!!!!!!! Â If you get bored, they have cool video games to play that were pretty neat and fun. Â They have a huge variety of beer on tap if you are a beer drinker. Â I will definitely come back again.
Review Source:I came here to watch the tail end of the rained delayed Rangers game on Saturday with some friends. Â I was pleasantly surprised upon walking in. Â The place is much larger than it looks on the inside complete with boots, bar, tables, games, and a patio. Â The staff was great, the bartender saw us walk up to the bar and made sure to get our drink orders right away. Â The clientele was friendly and outgoing. Â Drinks were pretty inexpensive, I spent $11 on two rum and cokes and two beers. Â I must admit that I am sadly disappointed to have found this place one month before I move out of the area. Â Luckily I'm not going to far down the road so I'll have to come back.
Review Source:Came here hoping for a cool place to hang out but my search leaves me looking for someplace else. Food was average bar food, good beer selection but had to order my meal and drinks at the bar even though I was sitting outside.
Nice patio, not so comfortable seating outside. No beer menu (or it was out of date) so I had to walk up to the taps to see what I wanted. With a little work this place could be nice but I don't see myself coming back anytime soon
OK, so maybe my love for The Draft House is skewed by the Mavs beating the Thunder to go to the NBA Finals. It is a good bar and their loaded cheese fries are really good. I which I could remember the name of the beer I was drinking. It was on tap and I hadn't ever heard of it before. They had both the porter and the pale ale of the same name. Regardless, I was impressed with their selection of beers on tap.
The Draft House is definitely going to have a special place for me knowing that it is where I was when Dirk and company won the Western Conference Finals. Go Mavs!
Located in the old shuck and jive. Â The place is well decorated. Â The patio is a good size. Â They have lots of TV's.
I was very disappointed to find that their menu has been pared down significantly. Â Most of the items that I thought were interesting are no longer available. Â Without sounding too negative, what I thought was a unique place for this area seems to be trending towards middling.
Service was good, and very friendly. Â The bartender Shante' (sp?) is hot stuff and entertaining. Â
If you are looking for a very chill place to get some drinks I would say go for it. Â The crowd was very social.
Met some friends at The Draft House to have drinks and we had a great time. We sat on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed 70 degree weather especially a week after Snow-pocalypse Dallas 2011.
The patio is great, very chill with some back ground music. Feels a little like a tucked away oasis. Maybe I am overselling it because I was so excited about the nice weather but it is a good patio and we had a great time.
The waitress was nice, we got our first round at the bar inside but after that she came outside to check on us.
We will definitely be back soon especially because I am committing to being outside at much as possible to enjoy the nice weather and their patio is a good place to do that.
Great place to meet up with friends, kick back and watch sports. Over 40 different types of beer and a great menu as well. They were voted "Best Burger in Dallas". Â I suggest trying their burger, the sausage plate and Franks Favorite Wings. The bartenders are great and they always take good care of me. They have plenty of flat screen TV's so everyone can watch their favorite teams.
Review Source:I have now been here twice, which means I am a "regular". Â I think the first thing to keep in mind is that it is in a strip center. Â It can be a tad bit hard to find. Â They have PLENTY of tvs for watching sports and an outside patio.
Now first off, the food. Â I think that the food is actually pretty good. Â On both occasions the queso did not disappoint. Â The burger was massive and very flavorful. Â I don't think you can go wrong with the food.
The beverages were cold and affordable. Â They have lots of beers on tap, but they also have a full bar. Â So there is plenty of choose from. Â They do have some issue with keeping beer in stock, not sure what that is all about.
The atmosphere, this is where it gets a little tricky. Â Both times I have been it has been interesting to say the least. Â The first time I was there it was pretty loud, they were playing the best of 80s hairbands or something, but still able to have a conversation. Â The last time I was there was during the day and it was some local older people that seem like maybe they are permanent fixtures there. Â So depends on what you like.
Overall, worth stopping in for a drink and some food.
I saw a lot of stars on this tab so I thought i'd give it a shot. Took my close friends, and was so thankful that they were close friends because this place was terrible. Had it been new friends, it would have been shameful. The service was missing, the place was empty, and it was so bright that night like Walmart, which isn't the type of place I'd like to get my drink on.
The only star I can give them was the volume of taps at the place, but c'mon, there are dozens of other pubs around the area that has equally as much. Plus that night, there was no finger food at all. The cook was there but he refused to even cook small batches of fries or anything. Â And no nuts either! I had better experiences at American Airlines. Whats worse is that they had 8 tvs but only 2 different channels on, both loud and disturbing enough to interfere with people's conversation.
Me and my friends were really looking forward to some good conversations and drinks, but all we muttered was disappointment and after 1 beer, took off. I miss Mc Sorley's.
How do I always end up with the nuttiest chick at the bar at my table?! It never fails..
But Im not going to let that small "issue" get in the way of rating this place.
I went on a friday night and there was a unique mix. The specials were good and the service was prompt. They were even giving away free sliders that were pretty damn good. This place is literally a stones throw away form my house so I will be back.
Really poor service. Â We drove all the way up from near downtown Dallas to check this place out for something new based on all the Yelp reviews and we were extremely disappointed in this place. Â We will not be returning.
Let's just put it this way: Â we planned to eat dinner here and stay an hour or two but left after a single beer. Â It was that bad.
Clean, new on the inside, nice TVs, not crowded for a Friday night, several beers on tap...things were looking good. Â We took a seat in a booth next to the bar and our waitress informed us the grand opening specials tonight were $2 drafts, $2 bottles, and something else. Â SCORE. Â So my boyfriend and I order up our beers and a minute later the waitress comes back and says, "oh, I think I forgot to tell you it's domestic beers only. Â The beers you chose start at $4.50." Â A little frustrating but that stuff happens, no big deal. Â So we change up our beer order and she comes back, delivers the beers, and awkwardly lingers at the table. Â We had to ask to be brought menus and quickly noticed that absolutely no one else was eating here at 7:45 at night. Â Hmm. Â So we look over the menu and decide what we want and we wait. Â And wait. Â And wait some more. Â Then I see our waitress outside drinking out of shot glasses and smoking at a table for about 10 minutes. Â REALLY? Â Our beers are long gone before she decides to return. Â I know a lot of bars let you drink while you're working and that's cool with me, so long as you're not completely neglecting your customers. Â The Libertine puts this place to shame because they have this drill down pat. Â The people working there all seem to have fun and they interact a lot with their clients and become friends with many of them, but they in no way forget the other customers and they know their beers very well. Â The Draft House? Â Not so much.
At that point, I'm not ordering food anymore because god knows when it will make it to my table. Â When she finally does come back, she asks my boyfriend if he wants another beer. Â He says yes and then she completely changed the subject and then walked off. Â Figuring she forgot about the beer, we get our card out, ready to pay...when she comes back with another beer. Â The thing is, he never told her what kind of beer he wanted. Â Not really sure what he ended up with!
I dig what this place is doing with their menu.
First, let's talk about beer. Â They have tons on draft- otherwise they couldn't call themselves the Draft House could they? Â There were maybe 30 choices, some pretty unique. Â I got a Woodchuck and my husband got a few glasses of Avalanche, they were served in ice cold glasses. Â The Woodchuck was only $3 a pint, I have never paid that little for cider in a bar! Â This pleased me.
I ordered the Angus and Andouille burger, what a show stopper! Â I was really impressed with the flavor of the meat and how fresh the toppings were, including the avocado. Â Well done my friends. Â I would totally order it again, but there are many other items on the menu that I am looking forward to trying before I circle back around to the burger. Â The truffle fries were awesome too, crisp and delicious.
Our server was attentive and very nice. Â She had a lot of tables, but managed to keep our drinks full. Â She let us know that domestic drafts were always $2.25 too, that is good to know for future visits.
The only drawback is the location, as others have mentioned. Â I will be parking my out front rather than on the side when we return, there was a lot of foot traffic through the parking lot when we were there (a Friday night). Â I did see police cars cruising through the parking lot though, so there is that.
They have a little patio out back, but we didn't venture out there this visit. Â They had a ton of nice tvs showing a myriad of sporting events.
Go now!
Quick poll everyone. Â Raise your hand if you like beer. Â OK, looks like most everyone here. Â Now, raise your hand if you like a wide variety of beers. Â Wow, again almost everyone. Â How about the liquor fans, raise your hands. Â Hey, there you are! Â Raise your hand if you like great food. Â I knew it, each one of you loves food. Â So my last question is why are you here reading this when you could be at The Draft House?
The Draft House has been on my radar since I first started to notice the 5 star ratings it was getting (especially since it was close to home). Â It's only been open a few months and is located in a shopping center next door to a Mexican restaurant. Â When you first walk in you'll notice the new TVs hanging over the bar and the big projection screen in the corner. Â Everything looks so shiny & new. Â You'll also notice the wall of beer taps on the right behind the bar. Â I think I counted around 30-34 different varieties available to quench my thirst. Â We were greeted by Mark the Bartender who gladly took our drink order and provided us with menus.
"Oh my, look at the stuff on this menu. Â This doesn't seem like your typical bar food. Score!"
My wife and I started with the Chorizo & Cream Cheese Dip and the Pub Toast. Â The Chorizo & Cream Cheese dip was served with tortilla chips sprinkled with seasoning. Â One bite into this stuff and I was transported to cream cheese heaven. Â Seriously, I would have licked the bowl clean had my wife not said I was embarrassing her. Â The Pub Toast was just as good. Â Serrano ham and Manchego cheese served on a toasted baguette topped with pepperoncini pieces - really, am I at a bar? Â Manchego cheese and Serrano ham people!
For my entree I had the Andouille & Angus Burger served with a side of truffle fries. Â Yes, I said truffle fries. Â The burger was prepared correctly and topped with a good serving of avocado. Â The flavors slapped my taste buds around (and I mean that in a good way) and took me to a happy place. Â The truffle fries, ah the truffle fries - such tasty little sticks of deliciousness. Â If I needed one thing to change about my meal it would have been to get my wife her own order of fries so I didn't have to share.
Did I mention the beer? Â So many to choose from, you'll definitely find something that makes you happy. Â I didn't try any of the mixed drinks, but I did notice a Happy Hour sign regarding domestic beers and well drinks.
So there you go, my new nearby hangout for beer, food and to watch the game. Â What more could one person ask for (besides more truffle fries). Â I imagine this place will get crowded once people find out about it. Â Please do me a favor and save me a seat at the bar.
What a little hidden gem this place was. It's in a questionable shopping center with a Mexican restaurant, a tattoo place, and hair and nails place, and I'm pretty sure walking around the neighborhood at night could get you shot. Anyway, I digress.
This place is pretty awesome. It's really more of a gastropub than a bar, but I feel like they'd get mad if you called it that, so whatever. It's a bar with good food. We tried the Andouille sausage and angus burger, just like everyone else, and it was cooked perfectly to order, medium, and it was absolutely delicious. And it was served with potato chips tossed in truffle oil. Who the hell expects this from a bar in Carrollton of all places? Anyway, it was good. And all the other food sounded good, and it was all pretty cheap for what it was.
Then there is the beer. They have a lot of beers on tap, including Dogfish, which was a pleasant surprise for sure. Way more than just your typical domestic fare, all lined up on a huge wall of draft-handle goodness. There's probably a beer to fit your tastes here.
There is also a jukebox and a patio, blah blah blah. The problem is that there weren't that many people in here, and there should have been, because it's great food, especially for a bar, and the service is fast, the bartender was quick and pretty friendly, and it was clean. Really, the only downside is the location, and I honestly hope this place survives in the retail deathtrap it currently resides in, because it would be a shame to lose a good place like this when all the other shitholes with bad food nearby seem to thrive.
Go for the drinks, prices, staff, patio....stay for the food!! Â Awesome new bar with great selection of drinks and the prices kill the Fox and the Hound around the corner. Â But after going there twice for drinks, tried their angus/andouille sausage burger... wow! Â Asked about the rest of the menu... all sounds awesome and different. Â Going back soon to try more. Â Cool place in an area that needed a cool bar.
Review Source:I ate there and had their Andouille Sausage and Angus Beef Burger with their Truffle Kettle Chips. Sounds amazing? Well, it was. I was really impressed. I was really just planning on having a drink but the food looked good so I tried it and am glad I did.
The whole experience reminded me of years ago being at the Barley House when it was on Knox-Henderson and I was hungry so I ordered dinner and was shocked by how good it was. When you go to a pub your expectation is that they have a big fryer in the back where they will fry anything for you (chicken, fries, wings, etc.) but don't do much else. The Draft House isn't like that at all, their food is good even though it is definitely a casual bar.
I didn't try them but the menu also had different kinds of brats and a pulled pork sandwich that caught my eye as well as a selection of flatbreads and sandwiches, but truthfully once I saw the andouille sausage and angus beef burger, I knew exactly what I was getting.
The place has lots of flat screens around and a patio in the back that is kind of an oasis. It is right next to Carolina's Mexican Cuisine and The Draft House's patio isn't nearly as nice as the Carolina's patio but The Draft House is a more casual and comfortable place all the way around and Carolina's is more like a little less pretentious Mi Cocina.
What else can I tell you about The Draft House? They have a good number of beers on tap. Not a selection as big as the Gingerman or something like that, but I would say there were 25 to 30 and a good mix of the usual suspects and some randoms.
The Draft House is in the old Shuck N Jive space and they did a good job redoing it. It feels a lot nicer and newer and cleaner than the Shuck N Jive did and it also feels lighter, but you can tell they tried to keep at least some parts of the old space here and there because it doesn't feel like a fake new Frisco bar but feels like it has been there for years even though I don't know if they have even been open a month.
TDH is a good place and had a good crowd when we were there. I was very pleasantly impressed and will definitely be going back.
