Of the crappy Spring Break-style bars littering the north central part of Duval, I've always liked this one best. It's just straight-up live music featuring rock covers without a lot of stupid BS...many of these Key West performers think they are a lot funnier than they really are, but for the most part, the "Durtbags" just shut up and crank out the rock covers. I appreciate that.
Like most of the dives in this area, the scent of long-stale fizzy yellow beer and cigarette smoke permeates the air. And again, like the aforementioned, your enjoyment of bars like this is probably directly proportional to your level of inebriation. I've never had any wish to get that drunk by my own design - but the music is still enjoyable enough for me to be able to hang out here in a general state of sobriety, without wanting to kill everyone in the bar. It's tolerable, and that's a win in my book....so whenever I'm in Key West with people who want to "party," I tend to take them here.
Well I have been coming to durty harrys waaaaay before they changed the bar, and all ot that. It used to be a big horseshoe... it's better now. I knw that was a time ago. I am old sorry...
But I was there in 2010 and hadn't been back since 2k. Yep , NYE for the millennium. NBFD... No big Deal. Ta tas galore...
But in 2010 saw the DurtBags. As a former bar band bass player their bass player was incredible!!!! What I liked is that the bass player has a fender Jazz bass in the style of Getty Lee of Rush.  I have  a real one.... Not a copy. But that bass player is a monster. Nailed everything. EVERYTHING!  Anyway how can you not like DH's..? If you don't belong --- well ---- how do I say this..?!?!? GTFO. But you tourists can buy drinks... And you do...
Durty Harrys... You get it .. if you get it. Get it?.
Another spot on Duval that you can go to get some roadies to walk down Duval, or just sit at the bar and watch all of the colorful and interesting people passing by. Â Nothing particularly special about this bar - it apparently has karaoke and live music.. but I was too distracted by all of the other bars with their loud music blasting to even notice where the music was coming from.
Review Source:This place always was a little uptight in a town of anything goes. But the music always made up for it. They always had great rock and roll that was not found in other bars. And it was always a great time that I would always recommend.
I just left there after a dozen eighties songs which is not bad except every bar in the country does this.
Key west is a beautiful place and the freedom that you feel here is like no other place in the country.
If you want to to pay to be patted down and scanned as you go in to a a good band that you can here anywhere then this is not a bad place. If you want to go to to a great place where you can feel free and have a blast with great music go anywhere else in key west
You have to check out Durty Harry's especially if you're into the live band scene. If The Durtbags are the band playing, then you're gold for the night. It was hands down one of the best nights in Key West I've had. They played such a wide variety of bar favorites (leaning more towards alternative genre) and the music videos played behind them. Whatever calories I consumed in drinks, I directly worked off dancing and jumping around!
There's a bunch of seats and TV's too if you just want to hang out and not par take in the rage.
Beth's Tip: Grab pizza at Angelina's on the way out... such the perfect end to the night.
LIVE KARAOKE? Did they sneak into my dreams & make this place just for me, or what? Â I absolutely love it. Â I had never done live karaoke before this place, and now i'm hooked. Â We had so much fun blasting out "Your Love" by The Outfield. I remember drinks being pretty reasonably priced, and we got free t-shirts out of the deal.
After we left the bar, we met someone who worked there at a completely different bar! He remembered us & bought us a shot. Â It's that kind of thing that really makes me remember a place - I don't remember what bar we met at, but I remember Durty Harry's!!
Definitely my favorite bar spot that we found during my time in Key West. Â Great outdoor bar which sits sandwich in "the alley" between Rick's and Red Garter Saloon. Â Lots of TV's, three different service bars spread out, and a great live band playing classic and modern day hard rock made this the perfect bar for me on a saturday night. Â While other bars closed at 230, the band kept playing until after 3 and the drinks were still flowing until what seemed close to 4. Â Not sure how long the current band has been playing, but they were the best bar cover band I've heard in a very long time. Â Unlike a lot of bars where the bands take breaks, they never stopped which meant nonstop entertainment. Â Definitely a return stop for me the next time I'm in Key West
