We ordered online for delivery. After an hour of waiting I called and they said they had just received the order. Another 15 minutes later we still didn't have our food so I called again to see if we could get something for the inconvenience. Basically I was told that it was the websites issue and they didn't do anything wrong. I specifically asked if we could have our bill reduced or get something for our trouble and they said no. They continued to make excuses and at one point got quite rude on the phone.

It doesn't matter what the reason for the bad service, it was still bad service and they made no attempt to make us a happy customer.

Service was decent and the server was polite.  We had greasy mediocre food the first time we ate in.  The second time we got food from here came with a free gift of stomach cramps with purchase.  Never again.

I had their Mongolian Beef and it was pretty good. Lunch special is very reasonably priced and comes with fried rice, egg roll AND soup. I had more than enough food. Service was decent. maybe that was because it was a Sunday and not very busy. Would try again for sure.

East China Inn has the best Chinese food in the west burbs!   All food is prepared and cooked to order.   Never a bad experience here.

This is still the place we always order from.  We normally stop there spur of the moment when we are out shopping and place our order to go.  The man at the counter is always friendly, and we have our order within 5 to 10 minutes.
I agree that the last few times the egg rolls have been a little greasy, and the rice has been dry, but they are still WAY better that the other places nearby.
    Good, cheap, and fast.

I've ordered 3 times from this place in the past year and can't say I've had a good meal. The food has been lacking flavor and cold. Delivery was timely and staff when I picked up was pleasant. I would not return though.

Good food, specially good gral Tso's chicken.  Their egg rolls are good but a little too greasy.

This place is nothing special but it's exactly what I expected for a decent chinese place in this price range.

I've been to this location a few time, but my gosh I got terrible service...
I wanted to place an order for delivery last Saturday at around 9:30 (They close at 10 on sat.), and the receptionist rudely told me with an attitude  "We stopped taking delivery order, next time if you want order call earlier" -word for word!!!!

To me, this is crazy... Their menu says they close at 10, yet they stop taking orders after 9:30.  Then why would you put down 10 on your menu??

Also on the side note, the ladies who works there simply JUST DON'T CARE... they are on their phones constantly and completely ignores us... I find this surprising because not just one lady but all of them seem to be very busy on their iphones...

Seriously, this is a place of work... if you wanna play with your phone, stay home.....

You can find me here a lot! The food is delicious, if I am going for the lunch special I usually get the sweet and sour chicken, and if I go for dinner I usually get the lemon chicken. The lemon chicken is to die for, I tried to make it myself and while I made decent chicken, it wasn't the same! I ended up here the next day.

If you visit this restaurant, at least go look at the bathrooms, they are stunningly beautiful and it is a very pleasant little surprise. The soup is very good, they never skimp on the chicken in the chicken noodle soup. (Which is good because I am a bit of a chicken junkie!)

The price is definitely reasonable especially the lunch special. And the atmosphere is always great. The only reason they don't get four stars from me is the service, while okay, is pretty lacking. And it may go without saying, but avoid any alcohol at this place, I once got a margarita that tasted how Drano smells.

Ordered carry out Crab Rangoon and Sweet and Sour Chicken.  Everything looked fine and meal was reasonably priced.  When I started eating the Crab Rangoons, I noticed it simply tasted like fried cream cheese.  After dismantling several more it was clear these could just be referred to as Rangoons, as there was no crab.

Thinking perhaps it was a bad batch or an oversight, I returned to the restaurant to get a replacement or a refund.  After explaining I thought there had been a mistake I was basically verbally attacked by the "manager" or "owner" and was told the crab was in there and it was the same recipe for 15 years and there had never been a complaint and I was an idiot.

I could not believe it, instead of offering the possibility of a mistake or simply providing a new batch he went on the offensive.  I was embarrassed by his behavior and astounded any business would treat any customer so disrespectfully and angrily.

I live right across the street but after that performance East China Inn is a never again for me.

I went to the Batavia location with my family for years, and started going to the North Aurora location after moving to the area.  I have always enjoyed the Beef, Chicken and Shrimp Kow, Orange Chicken, and Sweet & Sour anything.  Of course, the egg rolls always rock.  There are some dishes I haven't enjoyed, but they have enough great food and the price is great.

My husband ordered the Seasme Chicken and Fried Rice. The Seasme Chicken had the consistency of a whole chicken that had been smashed and fried. It was slimey and fatty and disgusting. The fried rice was dry and flavorless. I ordered the chicken curry and I was able to eat all of two bites. I cant even be sure it was real meat. The curry was awful and the dish overall had a slimey sour consistency. It smelled of body odor.
The crab rangoon tasted like fried wontons with cream cheese. I dont know that there was crab in it.

The food was awful and from what I understand, their Batavia location has become as bad.

Unless they begin serving better food, skip this and head to China Taste up in Geneva,

Not so great. Had sweet & sour chicken which was dry. Fried rice was tasteless.

I worked next door to this East China location for several years. We traded food all the time just to get a taste of something other than what we were serving ourselves. I lived on their chicken fried rice when I was in high school. I am a huge Chinese food fan. As a youngster, I really liked this restaurant. The food always tasted the same, I enjoyed a ton of their options from all the soups, to the egg rolls, the broccoli chicken, fried rice, etc.. It all was fairly tasty. Now that I'm older and have tried several other Chinese restaurants, I'd say East China is still decent for cheap Chinese. I kind of feel like their sauces all taste the same sometimes, but their fried rice is still one of my favorites. If you want them to put the "brown sauce" on something they always serve the "white sauce' on, they'll gladly make the change which is nice. Their restaurant is really nicely decorated, the staff has always been very friendly, and food is served fast. I don't think it is the best Chinese around, but it's not the worst. For our area, it's decent. Not as expensive as some of its competitors outside of town - which can be important in this economy!

Not sure what happened to this place...the egg drop soup is slimey, the won ton soup is just broth with won tons throw in, the pot stickers are tasteless, and the egg rolls are nothing special...really generic tasting chinese food, I've had better tasting and quality chinese food at ma and pop places, this reeks of chain restaurant blandness.  Easily avoidable

We always takeout from here and even eat in sometimes since they have now remodeled. The place looks great now and the food is awsome.

I don't know what happened to this place, it used to be pretty good. We ate here last Sunday night and we arrived the hostess was wearing sweats, bad start, jack. But my orange beef was awful, not even the soy sauce could save it and it tasted like a deep-fried turd  The service was acceptable and waiter was nice when we saw him.  The odd thing is that the crab ragoon was very good if a little cold.
My entree didn't sit right for days.

This is a lunch mainstay for the technology crew at IMSA; we also do some student tech group celebrations here.  It's your standard cheapo quick chinese, but done *quite* well (goodness, I've had enough in my time to know).  They don't use MSG.  Their hot & sour soup can be very good or it can be mediocre; the wanton soup is almost always nice.  The lunch specials are huge - a ridiculous amount of food - for a really cheap price, even though they went up when they remodeled (which was good - it's much nicer now, especially the bathrooms!).  All the standbys are solid - General Tao's Chicken, Kung Pao anything, Sweet & Sour anything,  Honey Sesame Chicken, etc.  Their pork fried rice is great, and worth the $1 lunch surcharge it sometimes is.  If you're going for dinner, my boss and I often just made a meal out of the Sizzling Peking Shrimp (*delicious* sauce) and a full order of pork fried rice.  Their appetizers are also good, especially the pot stickers and the crab rangoons.

For those who are Beef Chow Fun devotees, you can only get it as a full order, so either it's good for dinner or sharing between two for lunch.  (Yes, you know who you are... we who believe it's chow funlicious!)

They have revised their website recently so they have a real menu up and no longer the broken interface to their linux-based system - so you can really ponder in advance.

Craving some fast Chinese?  This is the best you're going to find in the area, so go on in and order up a tasty feast!  The more, the merrier.

Please note: This is 4 star only in its genre.  As for overall Asian, that would take it to 3 stars.  But this kind of joint isn't about finessed Asian - it's about fast, cheap, and tasty.  And East China Inn gets you that in spades.

When I was single, I would eat here at least every two weeks.  Now that I'm married with a child, we're lucky to get out on the weekends.  Tonight (3/21/08) with the dreary rain/snow/mush that had come down we decided to order some take out.

Although they've gotten a little bit more expensive in the past year or so, the food is always fast and good.  There's so many chinese carry out places that disappoint, but East China Inn doesn't.

We both had soups, MK had Chicken Rice and I, the Egg Drop.  For main courses I had Lemon Chicken which is the deep fried chicken, cut and served with a Lemon-based sweet and sour sauce over steamed rice.  Although not my most favorite, it's a great option.  Mary Kay is very cautious with Chinese food, although after tasting some of mine, she'll be getting it next time.  She went with a LARGE soup which is huge and then just ordered some BBQ Pork Fried Rice which she enjoyed greatly.

I've also dined in and had a great experience, friendly waitstaff and quick service.
