As a local resident and business owner I'm happy to visit. Found it on Groupon and the food is tasty and the beers are refreshing. Not Your Father's Root Beer is THE best in town. The food occasionally has some issues (temperature or missing items) but generally it's a good spot. Thanks Emersons!

This is one of favorite little places to go get a beer and a burger.  The groupon is always an excellent money saver that seems to be available often. The beer selection is generally very strong and gives plenty of options for any pallet.  I've enjoyed the 2 burgers I've had there and their appetizers have been solid as well.

The atmosphere is that of a regular dark bar so don't go looking for ambiance, but for what they advertise vs what you get, I think it was spot on.  Looking forward to my next flight of beers with the ever changing taps.

A wonderful addition to the growing mt. prospect food culture.

Husband and I went with a Groupon for 2 beer flights and 2 burgers. Having never been here before, we read the reviews on here and were nervous about what kind of service we would receive but we both had a good time! We were greeted when walking in by the bartender and got a booth immediately. There were a few open tables overall and by the time we left the place was pretty full (and we went on a Wednesday evening betweeen 6:45-8ish). The place isn't huge by any means so be prepared for that.

Stephanie was our waitress and was very nice and knowledgable, when a few beers we selected for our flights were unavailable, she had suggestions that were similar to what we wanted to try. My husband was already well aware of the Root-Beer Beer they offer and was excited to try it. It was everything he hoped it would be and the sampler was the perfect size for the beer, a full glass may be too sweet.

We started with Mozzarella sticks which were good, could have been a little warmer but overall fine. We both ordered a Classic burger and I added avocado to mine. The pretzel roll was a great addition to the burgers and both of ours came out cooked correctly. Fries were good but I didn't get too many "whole" fries, more pieces of fries and we each got a nice size dill pickle spear.

Overall Emerson's is a nice place to get away from the chains if you want to grab a quick bite to eat. Not a huge menu but a nice sized one but really come here for their beer selection.

I went to Emerson's Ale House because of the Groupon deal for 2 burgers and 2 beer flights. I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews, but I was pretty pleased with the experience!
They have a nice list of craft and premium beers to choose from for the beer flights and a huge selection on tap! I asked the bartender/server about a beer she was pouring for another customer and she gave me a free sample-nice! I also noticed another customer had gotten the martini flights and they looked pretty good as well.
The burgers were tasty and large with some good fries on the side. Nothing to write home about, but certainly satisfying (my friend couldn't finish his because it was so large).
We sat at the bar and the server was friendly and relatively attentive, though there were only about 3 other parties there on that Saturday afternoon.
I'm not sure if I'd visit without the Groupon deal, as it's kind of pricy (burgers are usually $10, beer flights $11) but I had a good experience.

Nice, laid-back atmosphere to enjoy drinks with friends, but as it gets close to midnight the servers become scarce. Ours didn't check on us for an hour, claiming she got caught up in rolling silverware, and there was also no one behind the bar when we were ready for another round. Maybe they are more attentive earlier in the night or if you order food?

First the positive.  They had Pyramid Apricot Ale which is my fave beer after Eichbaum from Germany so that got Emerson's some points.  Turkey burger is definitely on point.

Negative:  atmosphere.  Place seems drab, musty and with no vibe.  So we chose to sit outside instead.  There was a guy sitting by the door smoking up a storm.  Got up to say something but he was leaving.  Isn't that against the law now?  Maybe I'm wrong.  Even after that though, it was just so ugh.

Waitress but nice but ditsy.  Told us how an employee who was fired hid the silverware and they were having trouble finding it.   Odd.  Lol.

    Drink prices are crazy high.

    Overall, room for improvement.

Geez....running a bar is a pretty simple concept:  have cold drinks, acknowledge the customer, consider smiling at them occasionally, be attentive, make sure their drinks keep coming.......NOT HERE!

Two bartenders continually walk past empty beer glasses in a half full bar....

We love this place. The Not Your Fathers Root Beer is addictive, 19.5% alcohol, you must try it! Since we've moved to the area we're here at least once a week. Love the beer flights! Service is pretty good, they leave you alone but make sure you have everything you need. It really depends which sever you get and what their mood is. Food is just OK, a lot of greasy stuff. You can't go wrong with the buffalo chicken wrap with sweet potato fries though.

I really wish they would correct their beer alcohol %s on their beer list that's on every table. A lot of the beers are inaccurate and when I asked about it the servers have just said its a "typo," wouldn't they have it fixed then? For example, the grapefruit beer is listed as 6.5 when it's actually right around 3%.  Big difference!

Like several other reviewers, we purchased the 2 beer flights/2 burgers deal on Groupon. I am always searching for great burgers and this search has gone beyond Chicago to San Francisco, NYC, Denver, Philadelphia, and several other cities/towns. The decor here is basically a neighborhood sports bar - although a little cozier and quieter than most.

Our server was very cute and personable, albeit a little clumsy. She spilled my hubby's beer flight on the table. I do have to say though that these trays look a little awkward to carry. The odd thing is that his glasses were quite a bit smaller than mine so he was short changed on actual beer volume. Doesn't really matter since we couldn't finish this amount of beer anyway. None of our choices were anything to write home about - 2 were downright bitter. The beer flights we had at RAM a few years ago were far better and more appropriately sized for petite folks like us.

The hamburgers were quite good - again, an inconsistency. Mine was fat and fit in the bun - my hubby's was very flat and hung out of the bun by several inches. Perhaps this is due to the fact that his was cooked medium well and mine, medium rare. His was the basic without cheese and was $8.95 on the menu but we were charged $10.95 on the bill - although we had the Groupon, this still made the tax/tip higher.

We are fry afficiandos and should have known better and asked for extra crispy. While the fries looked crispy on the outside, they were undercooked. We brought the leftovers home and recooked them the next day - much better. The hamburgers were very good and if I was rating the place on just the burgers, I may have been a little more generous.

Without the Groupon, the bill would have come to around $56.00 with tax and tip - that is WAY too much for burgers and beer!

Beer Tasting: Amazing. So many beers about twenty different kinds.
Food: Also amazing, I had a turkery burger and my boyfriend had a beef burger, they had really good fries.
The atmosphere inside, I'm not so sure of, it was really dark inside so we opted to eat outside, which was nice! Our server was pretty attentive and the menu was good. I would go here again, but I'm a big fan of ale house/pubs

Have been here twice, for drinks and appetizers.  Never too crowded, atmosphere is okay -- but -- both times they were OUT OF BEERS!  First time, my friend ordered a "flight" of four specialty beers - and they were out of two of them.  I tried, and loved the "Not Your Father's Root Beer" (tastes like root beer, but 19.5% alcohol!), and made a special trip back for my friends to try this beer - and, after taking our order -- they found out they RAN OUT of this beer also.  For a place with a very small specialty beer menu, it's extremely unacceptable not to keep enough stock on hand!  Also, when I asked what wines they had, our waitress said, "Oh the usual - you know."  NO, I don't know -- that's why I asked - she only had a vague idea about "house wines."  I don't see this place being around too long ... which is too bad, because it's a great location.

I came here on a Friday night for dinner and drinks with some friends. I parked in the bank parking lot across the alley. May have not been quite kosher, but it was quite convenient for downtown MP. My car did not get towed or ticketed, but take my advice with a grain of salt.

They have minimal patio seating, which was full when we arrived, so we sat inside. Its very dark inside, with a typical pub feeling. Plenty of TVs for the sports fans, but not too loud for those who want to catch up with friends.

I give 3 stars for the food. I had a burger, which was good, but nothing super special. I felt similarly about the rest of the table's orders - standard bar food. However, they have an awesome selection of beers. My BF ordered a flight of beers to try some new things, and they even threw in a 5th tasting for free! They have a lot of (very) local beers, including some new breweries that don't even have their bottling facilities yet (Not Your Father's Rootbeer, I'm talking to you).

All in all, a fun local suburban spot to hang out on a weeknight or weekend with some friends and have an old fashioned good time.

Groupon for burgers and beer flights.  Right of the bat our server told us we can also choose martini flights, which was perfect for my wife.  Our burgers were great, I enjoyed the beer and my wife loved the martini's.  An all around great experience. Groupon or not, we'll be back.

We went here on a Friday night before a Groupon expired. Without a reservation. During the last Hawks v Kings game. Some might say that's a recipe for disaster. We were pleasantly proved wrong. We walked in, and a host sat us right away. Every TV was playing the game. We (especially my husband) were more than fine with that. Our server was nice and helpful, and got us situated with our Groupon pretty fast. Our food came out really quick in normal standards, not to mention that the place was PACKED. We weren't rushed, and we enjoyed our night out. When the Hawks scored, the sirens went off in the bar, the entire restaurant/bar cheered. It was a fun energetic environment. During commercials, they played a really good selection of music. A server heard it was someone's birthday, started singing "Happy Birthday" really loud, and got EVERYONE to sing along. Lots of fun. Why four stars, you say? Well, we saw our server when we ordered our food, and when he gave us the check - except for when we saw... more than we wanted to... in our faces.. when he leaned over to talk to the table next to us.  The only other thing is that our burgers were the type of burger that was all meat and no seasoning. It's not my thing. However, as a picky honey mustard fanatic, their's was THE BEST EVER!

My friend picked this place out because it is near her home and she had wanted to try it for awhile. The day of we were excited to discover that they were on groupon.  We arrive and are seated quickly and waited on quickly.  That is where the good part ends.  We ordered  2 flights and 2 burgers (per the groupon) and 20 minutes later still nothing... another 15 minutes later he says they were really busy and everything would be out shortly. 15 minutes later we FINALLY receive our food and drinks. 50 minutes? Really? The food was just ok... little greasy.  The waiter never came back to see if we needed anything.  My friend had to flag down a busboy for some mustard.  THEN, I go to pay... The wait takes my card and comes back with the receipt. but does NOT bring my card.  Really?? I have no idea where the waiter went and had to flag down another waitress and she look absolutely shocked when I told her that I never got my card back.  The waiter - NAMED RUSTY - left it in the machine. Really?? Yeah... I won't be going back.

My husband and I have been going here since they opened. The service continues to improve.
We usually have the burgers, which are excellent!
One of our favorite local restaurants!

Wings were good and tasty but a bit too much breading. Had a salad wedge too - as expected.  I enjoyed my two fat tires (beers) and while the bartender was pleasant (called me dear) in the end she was a bit more interested in her friends and left me hanging for the tab.
But for the most part I got what I expected. Seems like a spot local yuppies come by for a night out or a beer but contrived and generic.
If you are passing by it's worth it for a pull.

Both their beer and burger selections are great!

This "ale house" had a great selection of craft beers to choose from, but I would not recommend this place for anything other than grabbing a drink.  I had a decent dirty martini also.

The appetizer choices were boring, nothing stood out as "special" and almost all of the items could be fried-from-frozen.  We had the nachos with steak which was the best item any of us ordered except they were $13!  For nachos!

A black bean burger, a turkey burger, and two types of hot wings were also ordered at our table.  Nothing was fantastic and one item had to be sent back (please note we are not a picky bunch).  The menu features more burger choices than anything else so one would expect them to be pretty good.  This was not the case.  The pretzel buns were a nice touch, but was between those buns needed more enhancing than that.

There are lots of televisions and the restaurant/bar has a good atmosphere, however I would not call this place a fantastic hangout spot.

A++++++ for the martinis.  From what I recall.  I may or may not have taken a "selfie" video of me walking out of Emerson's Ale House asking for Oberweiss Ice Cream (which is located right across the street, FYI).

My husband and I were meeting another couple here on a Friday night.  They highly recommended this place, so we were happy to oblige :)  There was a 20 minute wait when we got there, so we went to the bar and ordered a drink.  That's where this place loses a star for me.  The bartender was efficient, but she had a snotty attitude the entire time we were there.  Like we were upsetting her by ordering drinks.  Strange.  So we settled up there and headed to our table.

They had purchased a Groupon for a beer flight and a burger for each of them, so that's what they ordered.  I ordered an Appletini (the beginning of my amateur video debut) and my husband got a beer flight.  I ended up ordering the fettucini alfredo, and my husband got the grilled cheese w/ fries.

The food came out somewhat quickly (and the appletini went down even faster!  NEXT!) but both burgers that our friends ordered were charred.  Like WELL WELL done, and they ordered medium.  They tried, but they were inedible, so they sent them back.  The waitress was really apologetic, though, so good for her.  My husband's grilled cheese was amazing (it WAS National Grilled Cheese Day, after all!) and his smart addition of jalapenos really added to the flavor.

My alfredo was gooooood.  Not only was it good that day (after a couple of drinks) but it was good the next day, too (completely sober).  Sometimes alfredo can be hit or miss the next day, and doesn't reheat well (the oil separates and the noodles get dry and it's just a hot mess!) but NOT this alfredo.  It was delightful the next day as well.

So in addition to the yummy food, Emerson's also has standout drinks like Root Beer Beer.  Yes, you heard me right--I did NOT stutter!!  It's Beer that tastes like root beer and it is SUPER potent in its alcohol content, so be on your toes!!

I would definitely come back for the food and drinks.  Maybe not sit at the bar next time, though ;)  I wouldn't want to ruin that lady bartender's day!!

Stopped in last night with a buddy to use a Living Social deal voucher for two flights of craft beer and two burgers.  There is a very good list of craft beers from as far away as Vermont and there are six or eight burger choices including a black bean or turkey option for those looking for a low fat meal (also you can substitute broccoli for fries for $1 more).  Service was friendly and fast.  I will be back!

I have been to this restaurant several times and it is one of my favorites.  I like the decor and I especially like their pizza!  I like Gino's and Uno's and Emersons pizza is like a combination of both, leaning more toward Uno's.  It's not a pan pizza, but it has that crispy, buttery crust taste like those places.  (From the pictures I see posted, it looks like the crust is burnt.  It certainly wasn't when I had mine.)

I've had dinners and lunch at Emersons and I've always had attentive service every time I've eaten there.

Most recently we stopped there for drinks on our way home from a movie. When we sat down for drinks one of the owners, Bobby was sitting at the bar and he saw us come in so he got up to serve us.  (We are not regulars and didn't know Bobby from Adam).   I told him we wanted a night cap so he suggested a Frangellco.  We got it on ice .  As I was drinking mine I realized they had a hard to find root beer beer (made by a small brewery in Wauconda.  It tastes just like a sweet root beer... only 19% alcohol) so for the second round I ordered a root beer beer and  instead of a Bailey's he suggested my wife have a rum chata.   I tried a little of the rum and it was very good.   We enjoyed ourselves and will certainly go back.

One other nice feature of the bar is their complementary salty bar snack is strips of bacon!  Nice touch.

The wings and other food items are not very good. The fries were cold. The service was bad too as they only seem to put a premium on people who regularly attend. This is just another simple suburban bar that really offers no unique experience. There is nothig to make this place stand out and there are several better bars within walking distance of this joint.

We went here with the groupon deal for beer flights and burgers.

The place was nice, dark and pub like.  Our waiter was awesome, very attentive and helpful.  You get to select the beers from their available drafts for your flights.  You get 4 tastes, which was a good amount.  The beer selection was pretty good.  We also got an appetizer which was just ok and two burgers.  The burger and fries weren't bad, nothing special.  The bacon on my husband's burger was really really good.  I would really go back here for the beers mostly, not so much for the food.  The food wasn't bad, it was just bar food.

Emerson's is a cozy neighborhood bar that has some very nice craft brews on draught. We used the Groupon to get the burgers and beer flights. Get the Cherry Bomb pub burger. It tasted like a jalapeno popper/burger combo. Pretzel buns are always a plus! I was also pleasantly surprised to discover that the flight list wasn't preset so you could choose your own adventure (within their beer list, of course). And you get to choose 5 tastes, which were 5 oz. each making it more than a bomber's worth per person. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

meh, I came here with the wifey the other week, and wasn't too impressed. the menu selection was what you would expect from any pub-type restaurant -- heavy on the appetizers and burgers, and not much else. the apps that they offered were the typical non-surprising staples like mozarella sticks and nachos. we ended up both getting the chicken sandwich.

BATHROOM REVIEW -- in terms of bathrooms, it was impeccably clean. And, given the fact that it was in a pub, the bathroom was absolutely outstanding. nice and bright and extremely well lit. I was expecting a typical pub bathroom -- piss infused and a stall door hanging off one hinge. but behold! not that case at all. sit or squat? sit!

Team Trivia Night!  So, we chose Emerson's for Monday night trivia, the location was great, the trivia not so much.  Was it because we didn't know answers to any of the trivia questions, or because the trivia host was kind of boring?? Maybe a little bit of both.

The bar is really dark inside, which I like, it reminds me of bars up in WI.  They had a huge variety of beers, but their special was $2 Miller and Bud Lite Taps, so how can you pass that up?  They also had .50 cent wings, we had 6 BBQ and 6 Buffalo, and these wings were HUGE!  After looking over the menu, we decided on a pizza.  We ordered a 14" because it said it was thin crust, boy were we wrong! See my picture......It was gigantic!  The pizza was different than any other pizza I've had, it was good, but different.  So trivia kept on....and so did our losing streak.....

This bar also had a sign up that said Karaoke would be starting on Tuesday nights February 28th....I think I'll be taking a Wednesday off at some point this winter...  :)

Wings and service.  The two things I loved best about Emerson's.  $.50 wings on Mondays, we ordered 6 mild and 6 bbq.  They were big and crispy and meaty.  Veryyyyyyy good!

From the pictures on Yelp, I thought their pizza was thin and crispy.  It turned out to be thick and puffy.  It has a unique taste, not bad, not great, but unique.  The sausage reminded me of Chuck E Cheese's, but the pepperoni was spicy.

I felt the bartender should've advised us that the 14" thin crust pizza is WAY more than any two people can handle.  She was very nice and a good bartender, so I won't hold it against her.

We sucked at trivia tonight.  The guy running the trivia had as much personality as the penguin on his shirt.  Maybe I'm just sour because the fat hillbillies seated at the end of the bar were blatantly cheating.  Phones out, yelling answers, and cheering loudly when the correct answer was announced.  Not cool.

    Awesome wings, eh pizza.

Horrible service experience.  Went there a few months back just out of curiosity.  It turned out they had a half price burger and half price wine night that night.

We were obviously taking advantage of the specials by ordering a bottle of wine and two burgers, in addition to an order of onion rings.

First, the waitress brings us a bottle of wine with the cork still halfway in the bottle and two glasses, one of which clearly had a lipstick mark on it.  It took 10 minutes to get the waitress to replace my glass.

The onion rings were of the variety I can easily get in the grocery store and cook in the oven and the burgers, while they tasted good, they were of the sort that upsets my stomach...I have yet to figure out whether that upset stomach means high fat, low quality or my stomach is fighting off a bacterial infection.

Then the waitress comes with the bill.  As she sets it down she says to me "your burger is not half price because it was a specialty burger."  At this point I know I've been set up...as I said before, it's obvious we were taking advantage of the specials and by pointing this out as she sets down the bill, the waitress knows it's going to be a problem.  So why did she not point this out when I ordered the burger?  (a specialty burger here is any burger with more than cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion on it).

She points out on the menu where it says price only valid for regular burgers, to which a respond by pointing out where it says additional toppings charged extra.  I am willing to compromise by getting a discount equal to half the price of a regular burger.  She is only willing to charge full price.  I ask for the manager.  After agreeing with the waitress and arguing my stance that the menu is unclear for at least 5 minutes, he finally relents and asks if it is our first time here.  I tell him it is, and at the rate things are going, also our last.  At that point he agrees to, just this one time, credit us for half the burger.

This is among the worst dining experiences in my life.   I can't believe it took a few months for me to post this.

I thought I had written a review for Emersons before, but apparently I haven't.

I have been here a few times for food, and went with a few friends last night for drinks and karaoke.

The food is good, not great. The menu is not expansive, and it's the upper end of affordable, and I use that term lightly. Burgers are fairly priced, but beyond that I think they're asking a little much.

I was also put off by being told they couldn't make one of their signature martinis (for which they ask $10) because they no longer carry the vodka.

They have decent drink deals, but I feel if you're offering a drink, especially on a menu that's on each table, you should have what you need to make it.

If that weren't enough, they have an even bigger strike against them that also came from my visit last night. My friend and I arrived at 10 as we were a little late meeting some people. They don't close until midnight, and when we asked to order a pizza, we were told the kitchen was closed. SERIOUSLY?! You're a restaurant above all else, and you close your kitchen two hours before you close for the night? That's not only ludicrous, but it borders on irresponsible since they sell alcohol all evening.

Also, note that when I said we went for karaoke, I should've used quotes. Their song selection is fine, but other than a few friends, most of the people singing, were upwards of at least 50, my ears were not happy.

I also feel like letting you know that I don't think this is a great place for large groups. Unless you all want to site side by side at a bar, or with your backs to each other at separate high tops or booths, choose another venue.

Overall, I'd come for a burger and beer, but there are other places I'd go for a night out with my friends.

Just tried Emerson's for the third time and my experience has gotten worse each time.  The service is horrific.  They don't hire waiters, they must hire friends and/or family.  The food is mediocre.  It is edible, but nothing to write home about.

The positives are:  good beer selection, nice decor and free bacon as a snack at the bar (nice salty treat to go with your beer).

Go for beer and bacon if you can put up with bad service.  Don't go for the food.

My husband and I just moved to the Mt Prospect area and decided to go to a resturant near Emerson's (because the other restaurant received better reviews) and then we stopped here for a drink after.  We sat at the bar and thought the place looked cute and the atmosphere is comfortable. Then it came time to order.  Maybe this place doesn't serve wine very often, but I asked for a glass and it took over 10 minutes for the bottle to even make an appearance behind the bar.  The bar-tender told me they ran out of it and someone went to the back to get another bottle.  Fine, no big deal.  I don't think they went to their stockroom to get another, I think the guy went to Antarctica.  Then the bar-tender tried to open the bottle and she couldn't.  The cork got stuck and it took another five minutes for them to figure out how to open it.  I was close to walking out because this whole scenario was getting to the point of ridiculousness but I felt bad since I did order the glass of wine so we stayed.  When I finally had a sip it tasted like vinegar and cork.  I'm pretty sure pieces of the cork broke into the bottle.  I didn't say anything because maybe they were just having an off night so I put my glass to the side and ordered a beer.  Much simpler I guess because I got that pretty fast.  When my husband and I finished we were ready to go but the bartender was out in front having a smoke with some friends.  Everyone deserves a break but she was out there for about 10 minutes and no one else working asked if we needed anything.  When she finally came back she chit chatted with her friends some more, went to the back, and almost sped right past us until I had to stick my hand out and ask for the tab.

No one was rude here, they just seemed to not care about their customers, unless you are a friend or a regular. (Which we very well could have developed in to since we live so close, but I do not plan on coming back here anytime soon now).  We were never asked if we needed anything or if our drinks were ok.  When we closed out the tab she must of noticed the full glass of wine sitting there and she didn't ask if something was wrong with it.  I am not the type to put up a stink of a $6 glass of wine, but terrible customer service too?  Now that's just ridiculous.

I'm giving Emerson's two stars since no one was outright rude and the place is cute inside.  We plan on giving it a few months and then trying it again, hopefully the staff will change or learn that good customer service equals repeat business.

I forgot to add, this place wasn't busy at all.  Maybe 7 people (including us) at the bar, and three tables taken.  There is no excuse for such terrible service.

Been there 3 times and service kept getting worse. My last time there, we ordered an appetizer and 20 minutes later they said they were out of it. Ordered a pizza, and about 45-60 minutes later they said the pizza oven is broke. Needs better organization and management. Female owner bought us a round of drinks but will only go back there to use my 2nd groupon and never again unless things change.

Overall: Poor service, grumpy/creepy manager/owner (male), and food was just okay. Has so much potential to be great but things need to change.

I love craft beer.  I love good food.  I do not love Emerson's.

    Pros of my experience:
    Good beer list
    Large menu
    Nice staff

    Cons of my experience:
They did not have the first beer I ordered, so I ordered a different beer.
I did not get a glass with my fine American craft beer, so I asked for one which  I never received.
The burger I ordered to be cooked medium was done beyond well.
Our party of four was not asked for a second round of drinks.
Our dining experience which consisted of one round of drinks and our entrees lasted close to two hours.

In short: They were nice to us, but the slow service, lack of beers on hand, and late and over cooked food fell very short of this place's potential.  Niceness can only take you so far.

Went for dinner Thursday night, as I had purchased a groupon on Wednesday.  I was told by the waitress and then by the manager that it was not valid until 5/11.....no where on the groupon does it say this and I have read through all of the fine print...I was told that a lady had come in earlier and she was told by groupon personally the same thing.  I called groupon to ask for a refund....as I was not planning on returning.  The rep at groupon informed me that nowhere does it say I could not have used it last night.  I believe the manager should have honored the groupon.  We ended up staying for dinner and the meal was not even that great.  The groupon was only for a $15 discount and he could have easily given us this, as we had driven a distance to visit his restaurant.  I had been there before and was looking forward to returning, however, I can say we will not be returning.

We went here for my boyfriend's birthday - he wanted to stay local and have some good microbrew beers.  He was happy with the beer selection here and it was nice and clean and the environment.  We had the feeling that we were in a nice neighborhood bar and grill (there were some children eating there).  We had burgers and the nachos with steak which were both better than average though not the best we've ever had.  The waitress and busboys were really great but the hostess was often not at the stand.

Overall, I really liked the atmosphere and would love to go back to try some of the other items on their menu.

My husband and I went to Emerson's a few weeks ago to try it out. It's only a few blocks from our house so we were hoping the food wouldn't disappoint...and it did not. We both had a hamburger, which came on a pretzel bun. The burger was cooked perfectly and was a good size. The server was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.

We went on a Tuesday night, so the place was pretty empty, just a few people at the bar and some families at the other high-top tables. The restaurant is pretty small, so I'd expect that it gets full on the weekends.

The menu here is quite nice since it's what you'd expect to find in one of the nicer restaurants downtown but the prices aren't extremely high (although pricier than many of the local restaurants) and the execution is better than average.

I really enjoyed the braised short rib. The mix of flavors and soft texture was very comforting for a cold winter day. There was enough meat in this dish to share with another person. It was perfectly complemented with garlic mashed potatoes.

The steak sandwich was perfectly cooked but seasoned a little too much. The textures were good however and it was presented nicely with crispy fries.

The caramelized pizza was quite nice although it may have been a mistake to get it with garlic (at least I didn't think it was the best choice of topic. If you're familiar with the flavor of saganaki you'll probably be able to guess what this tastes like. It was big enough for my party of 4 to all share one and be full.

Overall, the menu and flavors are interesting enough to keep me coming back.

First time here today and met the owner. Great guy and very accommodating fella. The food is above average and I see a lot of potential here.

Definitely a great location for those of us who take the metra.
