We really enjoyed the tasting at this casual and welcoming place off the main square in Sonoma. Â "Ben the Bachelor," a co-founder and former star of ABC's "The Bachelor," poured for us. Â He was very friendly and unassuming and answered all of our questions. Â He was working very hard as the sole server when we were there.
The wine was good. Â The 2011 Pinot Noir was excellent and underrated at 90.
Envolve was was a great time. Â Great story of three young guys from wine families branching out to do their own thing.
It might have been one of the most educational wine experiences I've had as Mike Benziger answered the MANY questions that my lady and I peppered him with. Â We walked away with a couple bottles that we'll enjoy along with the memories.
Had a phenomenal time at Envolve! Â Found this gem on a wine blog and fell in love with the story of this young winery...5 yrs old, started by two life long friends and employees of family/friends. Â We booked the Partners Tasting pretty last minute ($40 per person) and Mike, one of the founders, was gracious enough to walk us through 6 or 7 great Envolve and Epilogue wines and answer our many questions regarding the wine business, the beginnings of the company, etc. Â The wines are spectacular: birthed with a lot of thoughtfulness, blood, sweet and tears and I found a Chardonnay and Savignon Blanc that I LOVED and we decided to join the wine club because we loved our visit so much. Â
This place is a MUST visit, as well as the Sonoma square area where it sits. Â Book online and Enjoy!!
Envolve gets a firm (ok slightly buzzed but not so much I don't remember how great this place was) YES from me!
It's easy to drive (or even walk) right by it but it's along all the shops on E.Napa St, you just have to walk down a corrider (shown in the pictures) and you're there.
The chardonnay is tasty, the bubbly is refreshing. Prices are just fine and the service as well as patrons are uber friendly.
It's worth the stop if you are going to drop by the food shops and boutiques anyway.
We had such a great time last night in the tasting room! Â The vibe was so relaxed, yet we learned so much about the wines from Michael and Danny. They are both so passionate about their product, and it shows. Â We tasted quite a few different kinds, and every one was great!! Â We will be looking forward to our shipment that we ordered arriving at our house!!
Review Source:The was our last stop on our doggie day winery tour. The location was convenient in town and they welcomed our pooch in. My friend had a two-for-one deal from checking in foursquare, which I liked better than having to buy the Yelp deal ahead of time and risk not making it there. The wines were not memorable, and I just didn't feel the staff was as engaging as the other wineries we visited that day. I most likely will not come back here again.
Review Source:Bottom line: Warm tasting room atmosphere, interesting wines, great banter. Â Everything it should be.
This was my first stop in Sonoma and I was glad it was. Â Tucked in a small "back" alley (not really back.. but it is an alley) Envolve was lively and inviting. Â We stopped in and had their Envolve lineup for a tasting, and it was a steal. Â The girl who poured for us knew a lot about the area even though she was fairly new, and was able to give us recommendations not just for wine, but breweries in the county. Â My brother and I loved that.
We ended up walking out with 2 Rose and a White that subtle taste of grapefruit. Â Perfect presents form the women back home. Â Done and done.
I'm speaking of the wine and owner. Â Danny Fay is one of the loveliest persons I have met in CA. Â He not only hosted me and my bf in his home, he treated us to his AMAZING Envolve pinot noir. I was never really a fan of the grape, but his bottle was fantastic! Â This dude, as well as his partners, knows wine! For young lads, they are very clued in and very attuned to the community. Â They care about their business and their patrons. Â Danny makes a point of being involved in the community and making sure patrons are enjoying their experience of the wine. Â If I return to Sonoma, I'll be sure to sample the tasting room.
Review Source:Oh Sonoma... how I love you and the sweet, sweet juice that runs through your veins. Such a small and quaint little town, but absolutely overflowing with flavor and personality. The ladies and gents at the Envolve tasting room have somehow found a way to bottle everything that this sleepy little wine town is all about and I must say, I'm a fan!
This place can get bumpin'! We cruised in on the first Saturday of March and there was a good sized crowd posted up here - but definitely not uncomfortably crowded. It was supposedly the "off season," but from what I could see, the "off season" must not apply here. People on the patio, people in the back lounge and people at the counter. All happy and all drinking wine. The sparkling wine was hands down my fave but everything we tasted was nothing short of delicious. Well done, Envolve.
Bring your friends, bring your mom, bring your dog. Yep, totally dog friendly!
There are board games in the back and a chalkboard for you to leave your mark. Stay a while but do your best not to feel bad for the other empty tasting rooms while you are having a blast with the cool kids.
Guess who joined the wine club? This guy!
I have nothing but great things to say about this winery ! I have had the opportunity to try many different wines working in the industry but Envolve is my favorite of all . I joined the wine club a year ago and I keep coming back to Sonoma for all of their great events. I live in Dallas so I dont get to visit as much as I would like, but I go back every chance I can. Ben,Mike, and Danny share a passion for winemaking and it is reflected strongly in their wine and tasting room . I encourage everyone to check it out, the whole staff is friendly and knowledgable.
Review Source:Based on the wine and the cute tasting room, I would give envolve winery 3 stars. Â the wine is decent, the tastings are reasonably priced, and the tasting room is super cute. Â we had the absolute worst service, though, which is why I have to bump them down to 2 stars. Â I would bump them to one star, but the wine was ok so we'll leave them at 2. Â The gal pouring on Friday afternoon was rude, inattentive, and wasn't pouring enough. Â Several times, the bottle ran out after the first few drops and she just left and never came back to give us our proper tasting. Â she also said she'd give me some corks since they had a bunch they were getting rid of but was incredibly mean when I asked her politely if they had some to get rid of before we left.
i wouldn't come back here just because of the service. Â not worth it.
Such a great, friendly and passionate environment. Employees greet you right as you enter and make you feel like part of the family. Their knowledge of wine is incredible, during tastings I discovered my new favorite wines (so many delicious Envolve wines it was hard to choose). The young staff adds lively character and charm to the square. MUST GO to experience it for yourself, bring friends!
Review Source:Got pulled in here by the girlfriend....something about a bachelor. Â This was our first stop on our wine country weekend, we had just pulled into Sonoma, and we were going to go to a wine bar in an alley?! Â I wanted to be toasting wine in the middle of a vineyard, or drinking from barrels! Â
But, alas, this was a good first stop. Â Two reasons why: we found some nice wines to enjoy, and the girl working behind the counter (I believe her name was Kelsea), was just wonderful. Â We had great conversation with her about all things Sonoma and Napa, while enjoying the wines she was serving at our leisure. Â Bought a bottle of the Primitivo, the Rose, and their Sparkling wine. Â Not sure we would have purchased all of these if this was our second, third, or fourth stop...must have been the rush of being in wine country.
Would give a 3 1/2 if I could.
I honestly don't feel it is fair to even give Envolve one star. First of all, service was horrible. The girls who were pouring the wines were not friendly or knowledgeable about wines at all. However, this wasn't the worst part of Envolve. My friend is a fan of "The Bachelor" and wanted to take a picture with Ben. After paying for our tastings and purchasing 2 bottles of wine, she politely asked Ben for a picture. He was helping another couple at the time and rudely told her that he was busy and to wait. Ok, we understand that he probably gets asked to take many pictures so we wait patiently. For the next 15 minutes we waited patiently while Ben continued talking to the couple and other tables, completely ignoring my friend. After 20 minutes with Ben making no attempt to take 3 seconds to take a picture with my friend, we left. With all the amazing other wineries in Sonoma, I would not recommend visiting Envovle, even if you are a fan of Ben since he apparently thinks he is too cool to be a decent human being.
Review Source:We came here since we were in Sonoma and thought why not..we watched Ben from the Bachelor (as did everyone else here). We were hoping for some interest or talk of the Bachelor just to keep things interesting but the lady who was helping us was pretty new...as in first or second day on the job and didn't know much of it. She barely had much knowledge about the wine itselt and when we asked questions. she had to ask the other worker beside her. Otherwise, she was fairly nice. They are a dog friendly place so my pup took a cute photo next to the nice envolve sign on the floor. We tried 3 tastings and thought it stated dry and subpar compared to the other wineries nearby. We went in as 2 separate group and as our friends finished, we went in. After we left, was what I finally saw the sign for $10 for $20 on yelp. Maybe if we knew, we could have gotten a bottle from the Yelp deal. Too late! Just FYI for all newcomers to check YELP! I'm usually very good about it but end up beating myself over it.
Review Source:This was the last stop on a packed day of wineries and wine tastings. Â The Envolve Winery is more of a tasting room/wine bar so don't expect a view of rolling hills, grape vines, etc. Â When we arrived, it was pretty late into the evening (for Sonoma at least - 6PM) and there was only one other party there. Â We had no problems using our Yelp deal and I had a glass of the rose. Â It was fine, but "meh. I've experienced better." Â
The person who poured our glasses didn't explain much about the wine, or the winery, or the  organic or biodynamic process that supposedly sets the wine apart from its competitors.  We actually stayed right next to the Benziger Family Winery (Michael Benziger being one of the co-founders of Envolve Winery) and can say that the Benziger Family Winery definitely prides itself in the organic/biodynamic process and just the signs at the estate are more informative than anything you will get at the Envolve Winery.
Maybe this is a great place for locals but given all of the choices within driving distance from Sonoma Square, I'm not too sure that I would recommend Envolve for those who want to experience Sonoma and Napa.
It's located in the Sonoma square down the alley of some lovely tasting rooms and shops. This is "Bachelor Ben's" tasting room. It was okay. After a full day of touring wineries, caves and gran tasting rooms, this was lovely but nothing over the top.
It is a nice, relaxed spot with some good wine but it almost has a feel of a hotel lobby, which isn't a bad thing, just not what you really look for in Wine Country, in my humble opinion.
The ladies working were lovely and informed us of our tasting flight. We just stood at the bar but the seating was very cute and welcoming with great colors and lovely pillows. There is even a more private nook with board games and a TV.
It's a very small quaint place and a nice stop.
Came here with my sister and boyfriend on our way back from NAPA. Really only stopped in because of Bachelor Ben (although I was not a fan of his during any of the seasons). I think deep down I was hoping to see him so I could shake him and ask him why he didn't kick Courtney to the curb  ;)
We were pleasantly surprised by how relaxing the winery is. We checked into Four Square which gave us a deal (2 tastings for the price of 1). We enjoyed our wine in the back of the wine room, where there were comfy couches, a TV, and games. We ended up playing a few rounds of Jenga as our wine was served.
Overall, it was a good experience. We were taken a bit aback by our pourer (who I assume is one of the co-founders since he appears in pictures all throughout the wine room) -- he kept saying "they" as in "they grow these", and "they do these" --- not sure why he didn't say we!
As we were ready to leave, we ended up paying for both tastings, since the place had gotten very busy and we weren't rung up correctly -- but I suppose it's okay since we enjoyed our time and had fun.
Would recommend!
Wine tasting is for tourists. Â Wine drinking is for locals. Â This is the spot for both. Â As a Sonoma Valley Sauv Blanc slamming purest this is the place I can rely on good service and tasty tastings for my out-a-towner pals, or enjoy a bottle(s) of delicious Sauv Blanc or Pinot Noir for brunch. Â Who ever decided to put the assortment of games and T.V. in the back, "living room" kudos to you bro!
Review Source:Perfect tasting room to bring friends, enjoy some fabulous varietals, and spend an afternoon learning a bit more about wine! Â I worked with Colette to host a small event for a bridesmaid group of girlfriends and it couldn't have gone better. Â The wine flights and cheese plates were fantastic. Â The tasting room has an easy-going, fun atmosphere that makes it perfect for a group of friends.
Ben poured for our group and went out of his way to teach us about not only the wines, but about the wine making process, and Envolve overall. Â He and the rest of the tasting room staff were incredibly outgoing, knowledgeable, and quite clearly loved their jobs. Â We've already been back and plan to go again soon!
This is a great spot to relax and enjoy solid wine right off the Sonoma square. Definitely a spot you want to have some time to hang out at. Fun, relaxed environment, welcomes all wine drinkers. These guys clearly have put a lot of time into making sure people feel like they are in a room with friends.
The staff resonates the welcoming attitude and is ready to tell you as much as you want to know about the wine, and/or just keep your glass full!
As someone who doesn't know too much about wine but excited to learn more, this place was great! I have been to a lot of tasting rooms in which I was intimidated to ask stupid wine questions, this place was very friendly, not intimidating and the staff was world class. Â I felt more like I was grabbing a glass with a friend then at some stuffy winery.
The selection of wines were phenomenal and the location couldn't be any better. The Sonoma Square is a great place to explore on a little wine buzz.
Count me in for coming back!
I thought the wine was pretty good. The pourer was nice but not super outgoing and friendly (to be fair, we had just left two amigos and they're outrageously friendly). We got the cheese and meat plate because we were getting a bit tipsy and it was a super awesome value. I'd come back just to get a cheap snack while drinking some tasty wine.
Review Source:Nice little spot on the square but not a good winery AT ALL. My friends and I sampled the white wine flight that the pourer said was supposed to be really great. It was not great.
The pourer had very little knowledge about anything he poured. He seemed like he didn't have any interest in being there. Only thing he had going for him...he was cute. Oh and he charged my iPhone.
Ben came in and ignored everyone in the whole place except for a small group in the back. You'd think that being The Bachelor that not many people like, he would have gone out of his way to greet his customers and be extra nice.
Only thing I enjoyed...Ben's dog Scotch was there and ran around the place greeting everyone. Ben should take notes.
Loved the Envolve Tasting room! Â It has a very cozy feel to it and is a great place to sit back and enjoy great company and Envolve's great wine. Â The owners and staff are lovely, very passionate about their business and eager to explain each of their wines, without being snotty or pretensious. Â My boyfriend and I joined the wine club and are looking forward to receiving shipments of Envolve, so we can enjoy it year round, here in Arizona. Â We will certainly look forward to returning to Sonoma, and Envolve, as soon as we can!
Review Source:Great wine, great people, great location, lots of fun. Â Right off the plaza, my husband and I happened to come across the tasting room the day after it opened. Â Lucky us! Â We split a regular tasting and a reserve tasting so that we could try a little bit of everything. Â We enjoyed Mike and Danny a lot. Â They seem love what they are doing which really shows in the quality of the wine. Â We ended up bringing home a bottle of the Envolve Chardonnay and the Primitivo. Â If we lived in Sonoma, we would be regulars.
Review Source:Fantastic new addition to Sonoma Square - Envolve has turned a formerly boring corner into The Place To Be!
Totally different vibe than any tasting room you've every been too. Â This isn't a spot to quickly breeze in and out of, but a comfortable setting to sip some wine, hang out with friends and meet some new ones. Â The guys have done a magnificent job of transforming their surroundings (wasn't this a salon just last month?) and turning it into a great venue to soak up the sun and have a good time. Â Set at the end of an open-air alleyway, there's plenty of room to spill out of the modest-sized tasting room into small, sunny plaza or the great patio with tables and chairs. There's also a fantastic man-cave in the back with comfy couches and sports on the TV. Â (HINT: Â Envolve was overflowing with bachelorette parties and single women during our visit...I was the only man their that didn't work for the place!)
Some really nice wines, too. Â The Savy is very drinkable, especially on a hot Sonoma day, and the Primitivo was nice and complex. Â Impressive wines from some younger winemakers who are just getting started.
