My girlfriend bought the Groupon deal to this place, so we made this our last stop of the afternoon after our Sonoma on the Spot tour of three other wine tastings. After three very enjoyable tastings, R2 was a bit of a let-down.
When we walked in, there was absolutely no evidence of life. After a little hollering, a young woman came out, welcomed us, and handed us a wine list for the tasting. The wines weren't particularly spectacular, but they weren't bad either. There wasn't much in the way of conversation (she didn't seem particularly enthusiastic, but then again, it must have been a slow day), until another patron came in.
Our deal allowed us to take a bottle home and have $15 towards a purchase, so we got a bottle of chardonnay and pinot noir and called it a day. The wines were alright, but if we were to come here again, we'd probably wait until the weather wasn't so hot and probably at any time other than a Sunday afternoon.
Bought a Groupon for the wine-tasting, but had a less than fabulous experience. Â We were the only ones there. Â The young lady who was the server seemed very unenthusiastic, and even a little impatient when we didn't quite understand the explanation of what wines were on the tasting tour. Â One of the owners/winemakers came in, and with his bubbly personality, we felt quite welcomed, but the entire wine-tasting experience lasted only about 15-20 minutes, and we weren't overly impressed with the atmosphere nor with the wines. Â We were really looking forward to this, since we're fairly new on the 'wine-tasting' circuit, and were very disappointed.
