Eos Lounge

I live in Santa Barbara and have been to EOS many times, but I have yet to be impressed by this place.  First of all, it is hardly ever full unless there's a bachelorette party there.  So it's a pretty dead dance floor.  Secondly, the drinks are always overpriced.  And thirdly, they take pride in the fact that they offer hookah but none of them know what the hell they're doing.  They use quick-light coals and the shisha always burns within the first five minutes.  I own several hookahs and know how to work with the shisha and coals and they refuse to give you the tongs to shift the coals.  Do NOT get hookah here - you will be ripped off.  It's far from State anyway, you'd be better off going to Indochine.

Probably my favorite club on State Street. This one is pretty big, the drinks are good, bigger dance floor than a lot of the other clubs. Also has tables and a smoking area that is partially indoor with a nice ceiling. The quality of this place is just really good, and the staff is friendly and very helpful.

I've been to most of the bars/clubs in Santa Barbara and from my experience EOS stands out for a few reasons:

1. Staff - All of the servers and bouncers I've experienced have been extremely pleasant and friendly, this would seem expected at any place of business but it seems many of the other venues in town have forgotten that a little hospitality goes a long way.

2. Drinks - Whenever I order a drink it comes through strong and tasty. While many other bars in town are starting to implement pourers that limit serving sizes I can always expect that my drink will come through tasting as it should - not watered down to save a couple bucks.

3. The Crowd - While the EOS crowd tends to come out a bit later then some of the other spots it's always a great time. Beautiful people all around, good tunes inside, and interesting conversations to be had outside by the fire (the fact that they offer Hookah sets them apart in my mind as well).
