I'm a tad confused. This bar SEEMS like it's a Pearl Jam tribute bar, but the ambiance makes it seem like Pearl Jam would never step foot in this bar. It's got a bluesy-jazz feel to it. It didn't help that I saw a blues/jazz/Van Morrison cover band here.
Anyway, the drinks: while the variety was on the higher end for Geneva, so were the prices.
The waitstaff was a hit and miss. We had this really awesome attentive waitress, but I think I got lost in the masses, so I got turned over to a waitress that DIDN'T KNOW WHAT A TAB WAS. I'm not talking soda, either.
The bar is nice and swanky, and a good fit for Geneva. It's just got a few kinks to work out and it'll be a go to for townies and visitors alike.
We went on a Thursday night to hear the band. Â As a music venue, it's a nice place, great stage, nice ambience with good sound. The stage is a nice size, and lighting is pretty good. Â The old bank turned venue was pretty well done.
We were seated at the bar, and the bartender was more interested in watching the two football games on tv than tending his bar patrons. Â We sat with empty drinks several times, and he wasn't that busy. Â Their website stated Thursdays were half price martinis and wine, glass or bottle. Â We were told no on the wine, but the martini was pretty good.We ordered the seared scallops and chicken wings with bleu cheese fondue. Â The scallops, all THREE of them were very salty. Â The FOUR chicken wings were pretty good. For 12 to 13 dollars, I expected to see a bit more food on the plate! Stingy portion sizes. Â The beef tenderloin salad was excellent.
We then moved away from our inattentive bartender to a table. Â Our waitress is the reason I'm giving this place two stars. She was funny, personable and most importantly, on the ball!
Great concept, but they fell a bit short of the mark for me. Â Give people good value and respectable portions, and they will come!
We had the chance to attend a live music event here on a Thursday evening. Â The room and space is lovely, the stage and sound very nice to enjoy live music. Â We decided to have dinner here before the show. Â Although the food was tasty and prepared well, the portions for the price were NOT worth the money. Â We ordered the scallops, the wing "loli-pop", and the beef tenderloin salad. Â The salad was lovely and a nice size, but the scallops and chicken wings were pathetic in portion size. Â We started at the bar and the service was qustionable at best, then moved to a table for the live music where are waitress made up for the overall poor service we received.
It's too bad that this review is not at all good because the food has potential and the place has character. Â Give the customers better portion size and better service and we may be back?
