Went here with the girls on a Saturday night. It wasn't too packed for a Saturday night, but by the time we left around 9PM, more young folks were piling in to get their hookah on.
We sat towards the front of the restaurant and ordered a few appetizers and entrees from the menu. We were starving! Food was delish! They have meat and veggie friendly options. I ordered the Kachaloo: potatoes, tomatoes, and a touch of yogurt sauce. It was comforting and satisfying for a cold night.
My friends ordered a tropical flavored Hookah. It smelled fruity and tasted (?) lovely, though hookah isn't my thing. Towards the end, it started burning our throats, so I called it quits. The ambience is nice, very chill, relaxing, with good food. Music was okay; they had some music videos playing in the background. The waitress was nice, helpful, and friendly. We felt at home at this establishment.
Definitely a low key spot for some hookah and delicious food.
I hesitate to give this place a 1-star rating... but honestly, any rating greater than 1 star implies that my Exhale experience was somewhat decent -- which is was not. At all.
The hummus tasted like paper and the hookah was mediocre at best. The odd taste of the smoothie was eyebrow-raising. However, it's the sub-par service that makes Exhale a place to avoid.
Having worked in the restaurant business, I know the importance of attentive and friendly service; it's important to make your patrons feel like they are welcome. This is not the treatment my party received at Exhale. We were greeted coldly by a server who did not offer her name. If she had any desire to assist us or make our visit pleasant, she hid it very well. I was shocked, because our group was very friendly, polite, and personable. She treated us like we were an inconvenience.
In addition, she did not explain to us that our non-member status added a ridiculous surcharge to our bill (this information was not available on the hookah menu). Our total was, in short, obscene.
I would strongly urge anyone with decent standards to stay away. Your money is best spent elsewhere.
I like the food and the atmosphere is fun and different. The hookahs are pretty awesome and they have great flavors. The only major draw back is that it's very pricy! If you go for food and hookah one person can drop 50 bucks!!!! Overall it's a nice place I just wished that it wasn't so expensive
Review Source:I decided to give this place a try today, and have to say that I won't be back. Â We went around 5 PM on a saturday afternoon and had 2 hookahs and shared a large grill.
Decor - Decent decor, although very cold inside. Â it was really empty when we were there, so alot of space. Â They have a nice section of floor pillow seating.
Hookah: We got two one hose hookahs. Â The flavors were decent, but what was really disappointing was the service. Â First of all, it's a shame that they use charcoal instead of real coal that's heated up. Â The waitress rarely came around to change the coal, so unfortunately, i felt alot of the ash in my hookah. Â She also didn't really understand how to get the ash out of the top, so I ended up having to blow it out myself. Â Â The hookah is also ridiculously overpriced for what it is... Not worth it IMHO.
Food: We ordered a mixed grill of beef and chicken. Â The food was decent. The chicken and beef were both tender and well spiced. Â The salad is OK and the dressing was like a ranch rather than a traditional white sauce. The 'naan' was hard and not at all puffy or good to eat.
Overall, I wouldn't go back and would not really tell others to go...
I stopped smoking quite some time ago, so this review is for food only... which was very good. Four stars for the food, two stars for the atmosphere.
Visited during the week for lunch. We checked out the buffet, which looked good, but opted to order off the menu.
Had the pakora (vegetable fritters), kofta-e-murgh (chicken meatballs) and a minted yogurt drink. All of these were very good, and the drink was particularly refreshing.
The decor and lighting are a little odd... the plastic bead curtains and red and blue CFL's do not convey a sense of coziness. I would expect a place like this to have semi-private booths, heavy drapes and dim lighting. The space is too big for a niche restaurant (same for when it was Yanni's).
