I was invited to an Allen American's Hockey game party that was hosted here on Tuesday night. I have never heard of this place until now, and I was pretty excited to eat here.
The restaurant is pretty big, the waiters are nice, and the food was good. We ordered the blue cheese and chips, and they were fantastic! I really want the recipe.
This place is a typical sports bar. They have 27 plasma TVs, a pool hall, games, and a full bar. Some nights they have bands playing.
The waiter checked up on us every 10-15 minutes, and kept our drinks filled. We never once had to ask him for anything.
The place was clean, but it did take us about 15 minutes to get our food. Our waiter apologized and told us that the kitchen staff messed up on the order, and restarted it. Â At least he was honest.
All in all, I really enjoyed this place, and so did my friend. I will return.
I was a big fan of Down Under in Frisco, so I was disappointed to learn upon visiting the Allen-Fairview location that the entire menu has changed. None of the amazing and unique dishes are available. The food that we ordered was fine. Our server was outstanding! The atmosphere is pretty good -- TVs everywhere, including a line of Wii-connected big screens. I'm not sure why the owners called this location "Down Under" when they entirely omitted the Australian theme in decor and on the menu. It's a good, far north Dallas pub. Comparing this location to my previous experiences at the Frisco location makes this place fall short.
If you're looking for a nice, new pub up in Allentown, check it out. If you're looking for the old Down Under, keep looking.
I like this place, the beer selection for happy hour ranged and priced well ($3 Coronas? Why not!). They allowed my friend and me to sample a wide variety of beers. That's a big bonus for us and we enjoyed it.
We were there around 2-4 p.m. and it seemed awfully dead considering the good prices and look of the place. That isn't an issue for me, but some might not like it.
Down Under is a great place to come and I might try eating the next time I go!'
This is a cool pub to hang out at in Allen, service is really good, and the crowd is decent. Â There is a band that plays on Fridays nights, and I'm sure on Saturdays. Â
As for food, their cobb salad was amazing. Â The appetizers were like any other appetizers at any other places but were pretty good. Â I tried the chicken quesadilla, and they were tasty. Â The trio dip was pretty good too.
The restaurant is pretty big, they have a dance floor and play top 40s during break time. Â If you are in the area and want somehere to hang out at, this place is a cool spot. Â Valet is $10, but they also have self parking everywhere.
Came here for the first time for their Mardi Gras masquerade party. The place was super packed but luckily we had a reserved table. Our waitress was super friendly when she came to take our order and brought our food out promptly. I got the cream of poblano pepper soup and a cheese and chicken melt. Both were excellent! Ive always herd rumors about bar food beings pretty grody bur this was like, gormet bar food (if there is such a thing) lol. We had gotten there pretty early but by the time the rest of our party had arrived, Â the band had started to play and they were awesome! A mix of top 40s current music and old school. LOVED IT. We had fun on the dance floor watching all the drunk old people engaging in drunken "dance battles". All in all we had a great time and
I'd definitely be back. Great service, good food and strong drinks!
First time to the Down Under. Live band was awesome! There was a cover but the price was reasonable. Just be sure to order an alcoholic beverage within the first 5 minutes or your waiter will avoid eye contact and not acknowledge you at all. I'm hoping that the waiter was having a very off day and just decided that the only customer is the one that orders at least a beer before their butt hits the seat. Â Tried to pay our ticket for the drinks we did have before he ignored us ( non-alcoholic ) and if the band hadn't been great we would have left.
Review Source:I have been to the Down Under 2.0 a few times since the relaunch. Â Every time has been a very positive experience. Â The first time a group of 20 of us came on relaunch night. Â great food, great band, service was a bit slow, but we were a large party and it was opening night. Â All of the other times we have been the service has been excellent. Â The most recent visit was to see The Mullet Boyz, it was jamming!
The dance floor is a bit small, but not too small. Â If you sit in the front when a band is playing, you will not be able to hear yourself think. Â The place is almost always packed wall to wall on Friday and Saturday nights. Â Get there early or call ahead if you want a table.
The brisket tacos are very good, and the rest of the menu is better than your average bar food.
If they had a larger selection of beer on tap, this place could be awesome.
Glad to see them up and running and hope they continue to do well. Â I will be back again and again for the bands and beer.
This place is amazing! Grand opening night the band came out and rocked the place. All of the wait staff was friendly and personable!!! Menu items are amazing!! Big portions and there is a late night happy hour too!! There is tons of flat screens to watch anything you can dream of! Dance area is pretty big! This place rocks!!!
