It's Fat Tuesday, nothing drastically different from others you've probably been to. Â same 180 Octane, Superman, .44 Magnum, etc.
The plus is, it's easy to find coupons around town which can help you score a deal.
Wait staff was friendly and chatty, especially since it was a slower than usual day.
Meh....Fat Tuesdays? Well since I have a handful of drink coupons for a free jello shot or $1 off drinks i suppose I'll make a stop.
Overall summary of Fat Tuesdays:
-cheap drinks
-good happy hour
-you can't taste any alcohol whatsoever unless you buy an extra shot
-super super sweet
-i feel like im walking into a bar within a frat house so buy your drink and continue on
My advise, stop at this Key West staple for a cheap drink or if its really hot out just to get something icey and refreshing but plan on spending a lot more money if you actually want to get buzzed or drunk before you pass out from sugar overload.
We were wandering Duvall St. and decided to come in here for some frosty libations. I've been to Fat Tuesdays in Myrtle Beach and while I don't care for the general ambiance, I do like the drinks they put out.
This location had a similar scene, with plenty of extremely loud music, rowdy frat boys, people puffing away on cigars and some golf on the big screen. It was not my kind of place to sit back with a drink, but thankfully Key West is all about open containers on the streets, so we ran in, grabbed a drink, and boogied out of there.
In case you're not familiar, Fat Tuesdays does pretty much nothing but frozen drinks...and they are all pretty delicious! There are mostly fruity flavors but you can find a few that are not...I'm a fan of the Rum Runner in particular. If you want to get extra silly they will throw a shot of hard liquor in a test tube into your drink that you can either chug down on the spot or mix in with your drink to give it an extra kick.
I wouldn't recommend taking a seat inside, but I am all for grabbing one for the road. Just make sure you stay on your two feet and don't jump behind the wheel!
I LOVE an honest bartender.
When I asked the gal serving the multiple flavored margarita's, how fattening they were, she said "Honestly?? Most are about 1/3 sugar". That's all I needed to hear...before ordering 2 Coors Lights. Yeah, that's right. I'm a girl who likes to double fist (we were given 2-for-1 coupons on the street).
I used to like to dance (I feel a little schooled by the 20-something's these days) but the DJ was playing such good music - I got onto the dance floor...not caring who I slam into (Elaine from Seinfeld style). I loved that the dance area was open air...because it was a really warm night and shaking our tail-feathers worked us up a sweat.
The bar was a bit crowded, which is a good thing. Means, people like the place.
From what I remember (this was our last stop on the way back to the hotel after quite a few cocktails), the prices were decent and the joint was clean. For sure I had a good time. I know this because of the photos I took.
We went to Fat Tuesday to hang out before we checked into the house we were staying at. Our waitress took our drink orders but didn't write anything down. When she came back she had left out two things that I noticed. One was a jello shot and the other was a floater shot on my drink. I took this to mean that I didn't need it. She didn't charge us for it, or mention it again. Â
It was a good place to hang out and people watch. The drinks were pretty good, your typical frozen drinks place. The service was just not very good...
Your typical Fat Tuesday experience. The bar is in a great location and is big. We enjoyed a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't completely full and we were a group of six. Frozen drinks were good. The mojito was not great. Waitress was friendly and attentive. We were able to catch the ending of the football game and enjoy the musci at the same time.
Review Source:Fat Tuesday always has my vote no matter what city I am in.
I have a soft spot for them because I love those mixed slushie style drinks. Especially when you add an extra shot or two of rum.
Plus, I have started collecting the different style cups they have - tumblers, mugs, etc... so I always have to pay a visit.
This is a must-go-to bar when I'm in Key West. As I said, I love the drinks and I'm also pretty partial to the atmosphere.
In Key West, the entire bar is outside. They have a good amount of high-top table seating as well as ample room for dancing.
I've always had a great time at Fat Tuesday's. I definitely recommend, especially if frozen drinks are your cup of tea.
Fat Tuesday is your one-stop shop for frozen drinks in Key West. Â They've got nearly every frozen drink under the sun, and every one of them can be topped off with a shot of rum. Â If you're going to get a Fat Tuesday frozen drink, the floater is pretty much a given, especially since it's only a dollar or two more!
The atmosphere of this place is fun and entertaining, and Fat Tuesday is very much a "bar atmosphere" type place. Â Probably not the best place to take kids, as it's strictly a bar/dance club in the evenings. Â In true Key West fashion, there also seems to be quite the Laissez-faire attitude when it comes to the patrons as we saw more than our fair share of girls coming out of their tops while we had our drinks there. Â But, again, it's Key West so that's a bit to be expected.
The music wasn't so loud that you couldn't hold a conversation, and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. Â Much like any other bar in Key West, you're going to have a good time whether you like it or not, so get yourself a 190 Octane with a 151 Floater and party your butt off!
Everytime I think of a frozen drink (especially of the alcoholic variety) I think of sweet syrupy ick. I am happy to report that for the most part this is not the case for Fat Tuesday. If you are concerned with it not packing enough punch, you can add a shot of "moonshine" basically. That will get your motor running. Plus if you are trying to beat the heat, the slush is a good way to go as well.
All in all, I would probably try another one (they are a chain and have locations in Vegas well).
Fat Tuesday! Located right in the middle of Duval Street, and less than a block from the place I stayed this past vacation, Fat Tuesday had my eye from Day 1. They feature a large mug that lights up and that you can refill for a fraction of the cost. I had a Sweet Tart frozen drink which I finished in record time and then had a Dirty Monkey that I loved too. At night, the place is so jam-packed with great music playing.
Review Source:FROZEN in time!
This place really is just that!
How it manages to do that for decades, I will never know. It's OK, I don't care. I just know that this is one of my three "MUST DO" stops once in KW.
You know the drinks by heart, you know it's going be hot and you know they will be jammin'.
It is a small place and mostly open so it does get toasty in there although they do try and cool it with fans.
The crowd like everything in KW is mixed. No one cares. Everyone is there with the same goal: to have a good time and Fat Tuesdays delivers!
Pretty fun little place located on Duval Street. If you want a break from slamming down shots or beers, swing into Fat Tuesday for a nice little frozen concoction. This is also a GREAT place to stop on a hot summer day and you're walking around taking in the sights.
Dozens of different frozen flavors are available, and they have some special mixtures that take a few different flavors... my favorite was the Superman. A rocket-pop flavored alcoholic drink! That could get anyone in trouble.
Stopped in here at night, and it was pretty packed, with techno music pumping. Most people were in there just relaxing and enjoying their drinks, and it didn't take long to get served. I also stopped in mid afternoon while walking Duval Street, and there was maybe 10 people in there. Bartenders were super nice, and it was great to get a table in the back and relax in the shade, enjoy the drink, and be on our way. Bonus for being served in clean plastic cups so you can take the goodness to go. Fun little spot.
This is by far the most fun bar I went to in Key West!! Refillable couzie bottles were $10 and it was $7 every time you refilled them. Money well spent in my opinion. The frozen drinks were all delicious. Pina colada, rum runner, margarita, you name it, they'll have it. And the bartenders were so nice to mix flavors and create delicious concoctions. Let's just say as a Michigan Native, sitting at Fat Tuesdays in 80 degree weather, listening to good music, and watching MSU beat Ohio State in basketball was absolutely glorious. I wish I could be there right now!!!
Review Source:Wow, what a selection!! They must have 10 different frozen drinks mixing behind the bar. The menu lists different combinations. We had frozen Hurricanes, in the refill coozie bottles for $10 each. This is a great way to go if you like frozen drinks, refills are $7 and it can be any day throughout your visit. We have stopped by for refills and Karen had the Miami Vice. It was a mix of Pinia colada and strawberry. YUMMY!
Barstools and TVs make it a good place to stop in and watch a game while having a nice frozen adult beverage.
I have a picture 3 babies, sittin' at a bar, sippin' from fat tuesday coozie containers, before 11 in the morning.
OH YEAH! Mothers of year!
But honestly, God bless them for being open early, letting babies in the bar during the day, having virgin drinks for the little ones, and for having fans.
And for serving alcoholic drinks to mothers pushing strollers.
P.S.
There is a bartender, I believe his name is Derreck, with the most unbelievable blue eyes I've ever seen. (And I come from a family of gorgeous blue eyes.)
Hey there hottie!
Visit this place in the daytime. By day, it's a nice patio where you can sit and people watch while you indulge in frozen rocket fuel under misting fans. By night, they try to turn it into a club scene. Lame.
All of their drinks are pretty dang tasty. Everything on the menu, save for the margarita, contains either 151 or grain alcohol. The mudslides are my favorite, but I can't drink more than one. They're pretty decadent.
If you buy the souvenir sipper bottle thingy for $10, you can purchase refills for $7. Though I would NOT put back more than two of these babies. These things will sneak up on you! Especially if you're adding the "tooter" of 151 for a buck.
This is pretty much a must-visit (for at least one drink) when we're doing the Duval crawl.
IT'S NOT TASTEFUL, BUT IT TASTES GOOD. Â If you're walking down Duval Street, and you think you're going to absolutely die from the heat, why not stop at Fat Tuesday for a giant frozen cocktail that will adjust your attitude, cool you down, and last all the way until you reach the Southernmost Point?
And then, as you're headed back to your cruise ship, you can stop in again for a cheap, giant refill that would cost you at least twice as much at the pool bar on board. Â And don't worry, when I got back to the ship, they let me walk through with the drink in my hand. Â No probs.
I'm a fan of this bar more so for the music they play and the good time we had there. Got there on a saturday night and the waitress made me a sweet, fruity Daiquiri which I enjoyed and my husband a drink he enjoyed too. There wasn't too much alcohol in the drinks, but she offers you an extra shot before serving it.
The dance floor was wonderful. There was a birthday party happening at one end and another group of 60 something ladies at another. One of the ladies had let loose and was completely enjoying herself. Her enthusiasm was contagious and soon most people were grooving to the music. It turned out to be a wonderful night all the right elements - music, drinks and an enthusiastic crowd.
Key West is a bar-hopping kind-of town, so yes -- you have to stop in Fat Tuesday for at least one drink. And no worries, you don't have to stay there to finish it up, so sip slowly. No brain freezes necessary!
There has always been an... ahem... interesting crowd when I've been, which makes for a fun people-watching evening (or ten minutes).
This is always a stop when I visit Key West. I've never hung out here for more than one drink, but they've got the best selection of frozen drinks in town. This is a good place for people watching, or beating the heat with the fans/misters they have installed under the bar's spacious canopy.
As for drink recommendations, I'm partial to the Rum Runner, or White Russian, myself. (Oh, and be sure to get a "floater" in any drink you order.)
Good frozen drinks with lots of variety! You can get an extra shot of rum in a test tube to add to the slushy booze. When you get half way done with your drink, pick up the tube and release more rum! We didn't like the giant fans blowing in the back. Our hair was a hot mess and was sticking my my lip gloss.
Their music style was OK, just picture early 2000 hip hop. You can dance like a fool and no one will notice because everyone is pretty drunk up on their slush. Good times!
