I was in Chicago to visit some friends and this little corner cafe was one of the highlights of my trip. Â The inside is cozy and relaxing, the staff is friendly and everything is made fresh. Â The sweets display has an array of fantastic treats. Â The pastry prices are extremely reasonable. Â We talked to the guys behind the counter and found out that they bake everything just downstairs. Â During our meal, we could see them cutting caramels and freshly baked bread. Â The coffee is a delicious and flavorful dark roast that paired perfectly with their raspberry white chocolate scone. Â One of my friends ordered a grilled cheese - it came out piping hot and was fantastic.
This place is a real gem. Â If you're in the neighborhood, drop by - you won't be disappointed.
They're good in my book. Decent sandwiches, coffee's good, the atmosphere is very welcoming, and you get a nice patio to sit and catch a breeze on.
I'd recommend to anyone who likes to sit and be waited on, enjoy a good breakfast or lunch snack and do some work as well. It's a very versatile place. Enjoy, Morgan Parkers!
Ellie's continues to be a friendly neighborhood spot for all ages and persuasions. Read a book, munch on lunch, meet your neighbors. And now they have ice cream and root beer floats as well as good tasting and nutritious soups and sandwiches. Today they made me a mango sherbet decked out with fresh fruit! For summer, they're open til 9 p.m. Thurs., Fri. and Sat. Â Live music by folks in the neighborhood--jazz, blues, spoken word. Outdoor seating with umbrella tables too.
