My wife and I celebrated our Anniversary dinner at this Restuarant. The food and the whole experience was unbelievable. We had a window seat and had a great view of the Gulf of Mexico. Piano was playing in the background which made the whole dining room environment, delightful. We can't say enough about the food. It was incredible. We were told that the Restuarant just got a new Chef. We didn't get his name, but we both enjoyed the food presentation and the taste was unforgettable. We would highly recommend anyone that is traveling to SanDestin, FL. to look up this Restuarant.
Review Source:Went here for lunch after playing on the beach. Great location, didn't even have to bring all of our stuff up as we could see it from our seats on the patio.
Service was alright. It took a while for our waiter to notice our waters were empty.
The food was sub par. I had a burger, which tasted like a frozen patty, but I guess that's what I get for ordering a burger at a beachside restaurant. The bun was pretty good though.
My other party members had the blackened grouper sandwiches, which they said were alright, but the fish was a bit overcooked.
It was agreed all around that the fries were the best part of the meal.
Based on other reviews, I would come back to try out dinner, but lunch is just exploiting the view to hungry beachgoers.
Are you kidding?
This is some seriously fine dining in Destin thanks to Chef Justin.
He stopped by our table and visited with us for a while (how often does that happen to you when you are having dinner?).
Super nice and very talented chef!
Atmosphere:
Let's start with the view. The place is right on the water. Can't beat that. Â
And live piano music for dinner. Very nice!
How about the food?
Had the caprese salad as a starter. Great mozzarella and balsamic on top of fresh, local, organic tomatoes. YUM!
For the entree, the grouper was money! And the mashed potatoes were the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. Seriously - they were that good!!
As for dessert, try the chocolate mousse. It's the bomb!
Bottom line:
Killer place! Great location, beautiful views, excellent atmosphere, amazing food and stellar service.
It's a winner.
Great for a date nite. ;)
Salute!
I've been eating at Finz for years, but over the past year they have made some excellent changes. Â I heard Sandestin management felt like Finz had slipped so last year they went with a new approach and the food is incredible. Â In my opinion, this is the best fine dining restaurant in Sandestin and among the top restaurants in Destin. Â Last night our table ordered the Braised Pork Belly Appetizer, Grilled Caesar Salad, the Sea Bass special, Skillet Filet and Duck Confit. Â Every dish was spot on - cooked to perfection.
The only negative was that our waiter was not as knowledgeable about the menu or wine list as he should have been. Â I'm still giving them a 5 star rating because even though our waiter lacked knowledge he made up for it by being very attentive and generous in his wine pours.
We ate here twice! The first night was just appetizers. We had tuna nachos, grilled oysters, and shrimp & grits. They were all very good in presentation and taste. Three apps and a beer cost $30.
The 2nd night around we sampled the Cobia (fish of the day) served in a broth and Seafood Paparadelle. Both were fresh and tasty. Both nights our meal started with an herbed olive oil that had roasted garlic cloves floating in it. The oil was served with two kinds of warm bread, olive and asiago. I love olive bread. We also had the cheesecake pops which were frozen bits of cheesecake that had little dots of different sauces to taste them with. Â
Based on the reviews I expected high prices but the entrees were between $22-$28 which seemed average for the area and reasonable for fine dining. Our server, Jason, offered excellent service and we had a great table overlooking the Ocean & Pool. Not all tables have that view so make a request when making a reservation.
The deck and sunset views are magical.
Beautifully appointed restaurant. Â The only issue I had with the building was that the bathroom was upstairs and after a few or three cocktails it felt like a dangerous trip.
I was dining at Finz for a rehearsal dinner and our buffet was fabulous. Â The food tasted like it was prepared by the plate rather than for a buffet line. Â The tenderloin was cooked perfectly, the grouper was unbelievable, I wanted to bathe in the sauce. Â The staff was efficient and friendly and the cocktails were well mixed and effective. Â
Beautiful and tasty.
We decided to try this place after reviewing the menu in a local phonebook while we were in Sandestin. When we arrived, we were told the restaurant was under new ownership... so it was a completely new menu.
Nothing on the menu looked particularly good but we decided to order the grouper which was $30-something dollars. My fiance and I decided to split it, considering the high price.
When it came out, there was a pile on the plate about the size of my hand... a small or half piece of grouper on mashed potatoes with crab meat on top. Now don't get me wrong, it was great... but WAY WAY WAY overpriced and definitely not enough to split. You would think the waittress would have pointed that out.
Overall, waaay too expensive for what you get. Living on the Gulf Coast, I've paid a good $10 less for good grouper at a similar-style restaurant and had enough to split! They are just trying to rip off tourists. Not enough decent menu choices either.
