Someone recommended Stinky's to us and I'm so glad they did. The food was amazing, we had a party of 14 and everyone agreed it was the best meal of our vacation. Â Fantastic wine list at reasonable prices. The dishes are elevated above the typical Florida seafood place fare. Desserts were very delicious. Â I wish I could give Stinky's 5 stars but I have to hold back due to logistics. First, expect a loooong wait. That's fine, I knew that going in. Â Second, the parking is, well, stinky and the valet guys were stressed and they showed it. Â Third, it was a nice breezy warm night so when the hostess asked if we minded being seated on the patio, I said "sounds great!" Â Much to my dismay, "on the patio" meant "right next to the air conditioner units" which involved hot, hot air blowing directly on us the whole time. I would have enjoyed my food more if I hadn't been sweating profusely the entire time. Â Still, I would go back to Stinky's for sure (as long as I could sit inside!). If they could nail the logistics to maximize the customer experience, this place would be five stars for sure.
Review Source:What a crazy experience.
We called ahead and was told it would be a 30 minute wait.
We arrived and were told it would be a 45 minute wait.
1:40 minutes later we were seated.
Our friends tried to order the snapper, which was on the main board and was recommended by the bartender. The server said that they hadn't had Snapper in days. After a few rounds of begging, she agreed to check and came back to tell us that they did have it.
We ordered the oysters but found them to be the smallest oysters we had seen in the region all week, and $5 more expensive per dozen. Needless to say, they were not impressive.
When our meals came, we had to request a lot of items: cocktail sauce for the fried shrimp, a spoon for the soup, crackers for the crab, etc. Overall some pretty basic items.
On the bright side, I ordered the Stinky's Stew and it was quite good. Others at the table ordered the shrimp basket, scallops and the snapper. Everyone seemed pleased with the food. I tried the shrimp and they were good but the fries were soggy. The fish came covered with what looked like breakfast potatoes.
When we went to leave we learned that they had lost our car. This restaurant is valet only and they had lost our ticket. The valet actually had the audacity to tell me that they had tried to give our car to someone else.
Overall, while the food wasn't bad, this was a disappointing experience. I doubt we would ever go back.
Love Stinky's! Great atmosphere and great food. I am giving 4 stars because I am EXTREMELY disappointed that they stopped serving breakfast. It was something that I really looked forward to every single morning of our vacation. Although we loved the breakfast we do not like to fight the dinner crowd so we stay away. Bring back breakfast!!!
