Someone recommended Stinky's to us and I'm so glad they did. The food was amazing, we had a party of 14 and everyone agreed it was the best meal of our vacation. Â Fantastic wine list at reasonable prices. The dishes are elevated above the typical Florida seafood place fare. Desserts were very delicious. Â I wish I could give Stinky's 5 stars but I have to hold back due to logistics. First, expect a loooong wait. That's fine, I knew that going in. Â Second, the parking is, well, stinky and the valet guys were stressed and they showed it. Â Third, it was a nice breezy warm night so when the hostess asked if we minded being seated on the patio, I said "sounds great!" Â Much to my dismay, "on the patio" meant "right next to the air conditioner units" which involved hot, hot air blowing directly on us the whole time. I would have enjoyed my food more if I hadn't been sweating profusely the entire time. Â Still, I would go back to Stinky's for sure (as long as I could sit inside!). If they could nail the logistics to maximize the customer experience, this place would be five stars for sure.
Review Source:What a crazy experience.
We called ahead and was told it would be a 30 minute wait.
We arrived and were told it would be a 45 minute wait.
1:40 minutes later we were seated.
Our friends tried to order the snapper, which was on the main board and was recommended by the bartender. The server said that they hadn't had Snapper in days. After a few rounds of begging, she agreed to check and came back to tell us that they did have it.
We ordered the oysters but found them to be the smallest oysters we had seen in the region all week, and $5 more expensive per dozen. Needless to say, they were not impressive.
When our meals came, we had to request a lot of items: cocktail sauce for the fried shrimp, a spoon for the soup, crackers for the crab, etc. Overall some pretty basic items.
On the bright side, I ordered the Stinky's Stew and it was quite good. Others at the table ordered the shrimp basket, scallops and the snapper. Everyone seemed pleased with the food. I tried the shrimp and they were good but the fries were soggy. The fish came covered with what looked like breakfast potatoes.
When we went to leave we learned that they had lost our car. This restaurant is valet only and they had lost our ticket. The valet actually had the audacity to tell me that they had tried to give our car to someone else.
Overall, while the food wasn't bad, this was a disappointing experience. I doubt we would ever go back.
Love Stinky's! Great atmosphere and great food. I am giving 4 stars because I am EXTREMELY disappointed that they stopped serving breakfast. It was something that I really looked forward to every single morning of our vacation. Although we loved the breakfast we do not like to fight the dinner crowd so we stay away. Bring back breakfast!!!
Review Source:This was fantastic. Â Went with my folks for Mother's Day brunch. Â Places out in their neck of the woods are, for the most part, hit or miss. Â This is an exception.
Arrived before the place was open, and there was already a crowd waiting outside, ready to bust in and get their eat on.
Pleasantly surprised with the service, the quality of food, and the friendliness of the wait-staff. Â The crab bisque was amazing, as were the fully-loaded bloody mary's from the bar.
We (or I) will be back for sure.
Stinky's was referred to us and what a treat!! Three in our party... early afternoon for a late lunch. We asked to be seated upstairs and outside as the day was beautiful and the restaurant was a little cold. They accommodated us with our own wonderful waitress, "Kat" who was terrific and personable. (Give her a RAISE... our opinion).
Food was delicious!!! Portions were just right. Key lime pie was amazing. Presentation of everything was impressive. Price was right.
Will definitely refer Stinky's to others and will return again when visiting Destin. If you're looking for a great seafood restaurant, you won't be disappointed.
Oooh, mama! Â You need to eat here, if you want seafood. Â It's not a big place, so you may have to wait, but it's definitely worth every minute.
The food is top notch; they do oysters so many ways you won't believe it, their specials are incredible and it would take you a long time to wade through the rest of the menu, all of which is delicious. Â They do Taco Tuesdays from 11a-2:30p.
One thing that surprised me was their moderately expansive but highly reasonable wine list. Â Alcohol markups are insane; that's how businesses make real money, but Stinky's really does take it easy on the wallet.
The bottom line here is that if you're looking for great seafood, come here. Â Whatever hype you hear about Stinky's isn't enough.
Very, very, very good! Â Fun atmosphere, good drinks, family-friendly, excellent service. Â Had gumbo, oysters, stinky stew, grouper special and kids' pasta. Â the grouper was OUTstanding! Â My husband said the stinky stew was also excellent. Â Kids had ice cream with chocolate and caramel sauce and my husband and I had the bread pudding. Â All very good. Â High quality ice cream and the bread pudding tasted homemade (no raisins though ... boo, but that's just my personal preference). Â $102 before tip and that included cocktails ... not bad at all in my opinion. Â
The one downside was the sourpuss of a hostess (the thin older woman, blond-ish shoulder length bob and black glasses). Â Ugh, she was such a pill she almost made me leave before even giving our name. Â When we came back with our pager she took it (with an attitude), didn't say a word and proceeded to grab menus and stride to a table. Â I asked the other hostess if we should follow her and she rolled her eyes and said, "oh, yeah .. sorry". Â Seems like this is Sourpuss's regular schtick. Â Dropped the menus on the table and walked away without saying a word. Â What a grump and what a horrible first impression of what turned out to be a great night out. Â I also saw her take a chair from a 4-top where there were only 2 people seated without even saying a word. Â Yeah, ok, you needed a chair and they weren't using it, but geeze ... acknowledge it why don't you. Â The woman at the table gave us a look like, "do you believe this b*tch??". Â That woman needs to GO. Â Every other employee we encountered was pleasant and seemingly appreciative to be working in a lucrative, busy restaurant. Â Sourpuss is burnt out and needs to go work at a nice, quiet coffee shop where she won't be bothered by too many patrons.
Go to Stinky's and ignore Sourpuss .. you'll be happy you did.
love stinkys. love it all. love the food. love the people. love everything. just had the black eyed pea salad and the wahoo and jalapeno cheese grits. i go every time i'm down on 30A. still drooling. a bit pricey, but worth it. I wish they delivered to california....................ugh, its so good.
Review Source:If the food wasn't so good this place would be getting a 2 or 3 rating from me. First off, they need to fire their hostesses especially the old one. I called the day before we came to see what the wait was, 1h45m at 7p, and to ask a few questions. Not only did I get attitude on the phone she was reluctant to answer any of my basic questions about the restaurant. The next day when we came in at 5 I met Ms Moody Angry Old Hostess and knew why. Â This woman is so nasty with her attitude, which she gave us again when we checked on our wait, she makes the other hostesses miserable. Â They need to fire her and hire someone who greets guests with a smile and someone more willing to answer questions and be accommodating to people who want to give you money.
My other issue is we were there as soon as they opened and it still took 30m to seat us. Â Apparently they stagger seating even though there are tons and tons of open tables which I noticed when I went to the bathroom. Seat your guests as soon as you can instead of making them stand outside in the cold.
Once seated everything was great. We had two servers for a party of six who were on top of their game.  I ordered the taste of Stinkys and it was pretty good, best crab cake I've ever had.  The catfish was kind of plain, the grits were good, the sautéed veggies were amazing, but the crab cake was amazing and I typically don't like crab cakes.  The crayfish pie was decent but I've had better.  Also, I don't usually like fried green tomatoes, but man these were the best ever, especially with the crayfish étouffée as a topping. The food impressed me so much I gave them two stars just for that. I would definitely eat here again and do it the same way...go early
Full disclosure, I was the only person in my group who does not eat seafood and each of them really enjoyed their lunch items; especially the seafood chowder which they all RAVED about. As a non-seafood eater, I tried the Cuban sandwich and was very disappointed. The pork was "fire-roasted" (whatever that really means), but in reality it was smoked and that flavor completely overpowered the sandwich. I was very disappointed. In an attempt to cleanse my palette after the disappointing sandwich I decided to try the "award-winning" key-lime pie; it too was a disappointment -- it was just so-so (not very flavorful). Again, the other people in my party really enjoyed their food; in addition the service was friendly and fast. The atmosphere is very nice as well. If you are not a seafood eater... you may want to stick with a burger (I should have listened to person in my group who suggested it!).
Review Source:this place is worth the hype. Seafood snob here, ordered Stinky's Stew and could not finish it. Insane value and prepared by people who know what f**king time it is.
I've spent a good bit of time on the Emerald Coast. This is as good as a meal as you can get. Only reason they don't get 5 stars is that its a little loud and the teenage girls at the hostess station are hot, but retarded. Otherwise, its excellent
ok. I was excited to get an overwhelming review from everyone about this place. Took my daughter. We went fairly early so we only waited about 20 minutes. But the wait at the table was 1.5 hours. We got the oyster shooters. Not sure who told them oyster shooters had beer... yuck. I prefer the ones with a splash of vodka.
We got the special. It came with a unique soup. But the server kept trying to bring us gumbo. after waiting over an hour for something besides beer soaked oysters I asked for the soup and it arrived. tasted good. Bit nothing to wait an hour for.
The meal was tasty when it arrived. Desert was pecan pied. Server said $2 more for ice crfeam and I said sure. We got something like pecan crumple without ice cream. It was not good. Then the waiter comes running up with a side of ice cream. I was so done at this point i told him to take it all away and just bfring the check.
Not worth $70 bucks for 2 even after they took those nasty oysters off the bill.
They brought us key lime pie to go. The manager saw I was done. I did not argue but I am not a fan of key lime.
I would rather hit the tourist places than eat there again
The service here was top notch, but the food overpriced. $16.95 for oysters and some over cooked shoestring French fries. At least serve some homemade fries for that price. And mandatory valet parking for such a small lot? Seems like overkill and a restaurant trying to be something that it is not.
Review Source:What a great surprise! Â I expected a fried dish house, but this was NewOrleans influenced--fresh fish cooked to perfection. Â It's informal but has attentive service you would expect in a formal restaurant. Â The oysters in lemon garlic sauce were so delicious. The problem was making a choice among their offerings. Â I'm going back!
Review Source:Spent a weekend in the Florida panhandle on the "Emerald Coast." Â We had gotten recommendations from a friend who comes every summer. Â She said Stinky's was her favorite. Â She was right. Â The main part of the menu is fresh fish prepared simply. Â The fish they serve all comes out of local waters. Â Everything we had was excellent. Â They also have wonderful local oysters - very tasty and and fresh, and for $10 a dozen on the half shell, the price can't be beat either. Â We went our first night in town, and liked it so much we went back two days later. Â The service was good - well paced and not oversolicitous, but we never felt ignored. Â I'll be back.
Review Source:Nothing to write home about. The service was good, but the food fro me was just o.k.
I had a cup of their seafood chowder and their Shrimp and grits. The chowder was flavorful, but not spectacular by any means. This may have been to to the lukewarm temperature. Â The Shrimp and grits were about the same just blah. The atmosphere was nice and the staff seemed fine.
I have been disappointed for years with the food on 30A however we have discovered the one bright spot, stinkys!!!
We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Â Shrimp and grits is off the hook, seafood chowder is great, firecracker shrimp is great. Â They actually have a good beer selection which is rare in these parts.
I cannot recommend  them highly enough.  It is a must visit for us every time we come down this way. Â
Really good place for children as well.
Not necessarily the above and beyond dining occasion, but it was definitely tasty. All the food I ate was good, and I would visit again. The best part was the delicious homemade desserts. We had key lime, peanut butter and chocolate(wow), and blackberry pie. All of those rocked! A bit pricey, but you should enjoy the food here. Â We went here based on Yelp reviews, and all my family was pleased we chose it.
Review Source:Being a kid from the beach who now lives inland, I wanted my trip to 30A to include a "bucket in the table" seafood joint. I have always been a Carolinas vacationer, so I reached out to veteran SoWal friends for a shrimp/oyster dive and there was a split vote betwixt Elmo's and Stinky's.
Reading reviews, I was sold on the idea of a few PBR pounders in the bait shop while waiting for a table, so Stinky's it was.
Since we expertly planned our vacay for the week of Labor Day, all of the grown-up families with little humans had already cleared out of 30A to head back to school so we had no wait, regrettably. However, after being seated, we were blown away; the atmosphere is, indeed, that of a dive. However, you quickly read the menu and discover inventive food combinations and a great wine/cocktail list (bottle of Cloudy Bay SauvBlanc for only 40 bones???) The little lady had shrimp & grits, while I had blackened swordfish. Both were perfect. Do yourself a solid.
If you are looking for a place to wear your Sunday best, this might not be your cup of tea. If you still have your Bluetooth earpiece in, you should pass on by. If you want great seafood, great sides, great service, and baller options for drinks, make this a "must see".
We decided to come to Stinky's for lunch rather than dinner while trying to avoid some bad weather. It wasn't as packed as it had looked when we saw it earlier in the week, so we didn't even have to wait. I wouldn't have minded a wait though because the bar was super cute, and they have a nice selection of beer.
We started with the fried green tomato appetizer.  Rather than having a standard dipping sauce, these came on top of crawfish étouffée. I'm normally good at sharing, but I really didn't want anyone else to jump in.  They were amazing. I had the catfish po-boy which was also delicious.
Overall lunch was great, and the prices are right. Â My sandwich was only $7.95, and it easily could have fed two people. Â I'll definitely have to try Stinky's for dinner the next time I'm in town!
After 1 hr wait in the bait shop (were told 45-60 min) was worth every min. Stinky's sampler gave a good variety. Crab cakes & fried catfish were awesome! Would get a crab cake meal next time. Also came w/ sautéed veggies on the plate that was perfect. Didn't have one but the salads looked great. Oyster shooters were excellent!- w/ house made bloody Mary mix, & some PBR- w/ the rest of the can in center for someone to enjoy. Would def go here again even w/ 1 hr wait!
If you like dry red wine DO NOT get house wine in bait shop- too sweet
Really happy with this experience overall. Â The wait was long but we hung out in their bait shop/bar next door and sipped $2 PBRs til our table was ready. Can't beat it. Â The waiter knew the menu well to include ingredients for the dishes, very impressive and catered to one of the kids in our party who had a milk allergy -- very allergy friendly if that is a concern.
I had the Stinkys Stew and a house salad. The Creole dressing was quite nice and the stew was one of the better seafood stews I've had, stacked up well with any boulliabase or cioppino I've eaten anywhere.
Best of all it's not your standard area tourist trap Crab house that you see a lot of in these parts. You get good food that's fairly priced and leave satisfied. I'd go here again.
If I ever go back to Santa Rosa Beach, this place is an absolute must. Â Or, maybe I will go to Santa Rosa Beach just so I can go to Stinky's Fish Camp.
First of all, there was a long wait and I hear that is usually the case on weekends. Â We had a party of 10 and we waited about an hour, but it was definitely worth the wait. Â We even discovered a Lime-A-Rita during our wait and fell in love w/ the new Bud Light drink. Â
I had the shrimp and grits 3 course meal for $30, which included a salad, shrimp and grits, and dessert. Â The shrimp and grits were amazing! Â My hubby ordered the crawfish pie (basically a chicken pot pie, with crawfish instead), which he devoured. Â Almost everyone in our party really enjoyed the food (except for my friend who ordered a salad because she wasn't super hungry, but that explains it). Â
Even though I was full, I had to squeeze dessert in. Â The key lime pie was the best I've ever tried. Â Perfect amount of tartness/sweetness, but the crust was my favorite part. Â It was thicker than normal and had a crispy, yet chewy texture. Â No matter how full you are, you have to try the key lime pie!!
Short: Go here for to eat food.
Long: Rolled in at 7pm braced for a wait. Told it would be 60min+. Â Sat on benches outside, took turns walking down to the public beach access to kill time/bask in the beauty. A short 40min later got the buzz for a table.
Sat upstairs, started with the bbq shrimp. Crazy snap and bright, light sauce tells us this joint is FRESH and serious.
Ended up going with an order of oyster shooters too -- which is only 6 fresh oyster shots swimming in a combo of cocktail sauce and PBR -- with the tallboy riding shotgun in the center of the platter. Nice touch. And more crazy fresh shellfish as you cannot hide faults when it comes to raw oysters.
Dinner meant 3 takes on their catch of the day -- scallops, swordfish, and crab cakes. Each was finished perfectly -- not over buttered or seasoned -- with a wonderful bed of veggies and potatoes that really sealed the deal. A good balanced portion that was really satisfying without being piggish, greasy, or heavy . A fried shrimp basket also revealed A1+ quality shrimp lightly battered and served with an addictive smoked tartar sauce.
Four entrees and two apps and I do not think a fork was left uneaten.
Simply put, the better your seafood palate the more you will dig Stinky's.
THIS, all ye seafood lovers, is THE place to eat whilst in destin, florida. some duder had ribs and rated this place poorly. i'm not sure what to say, other than... well if you go to a place called the rootin' tootin' bull camp, and it's in the middle of texas, and of all the beef dishes on the menu, you order the one fish offering instead... that's a wee bit doofy.
robert was our informative server. he knew where the fishies were from... like their geographical migration patterns. it was advanced. needless to say, he also knew what things cost, what sides came with what, and what was great on the menu. A++++ service from sir robert.
i had a delectable soft shell crab, with thoughtfully, creatively prepared sauteed veggies and great homefries that came with. the crab was crispy, hot hot fresh, and i ate every bite. these guys aren't slopping fresh fish onto a grill and then onto a plate and charging you a fortune for it- they're actually putting love and thought into this food and it shows. AND it's off-the-docks fresh.
the parents ordered a catch of the day- one fried, one grilled, both unbelievable. the fried shrimp came with a gorgeous gold batter and intense dipping sauce. all the entrees were huge! (unlike at dewey's harborside, which mildly sucked and also served entrees that were barely enough to feed a grown man)
the crawfish hushpuppies were why people are jealous of southern cooking. those things were unbelievable! MUST order! crispy, fatty, buttery goodness.
****i NEVER say this: try, just make an effort, however feeble, to save room for dessert. i know, you can't feel your legs and you need a gurney to get back to your car, which was parked for free by the valet, because you just ate the entire whale special. just try though! my mom came back again the next day for the keylime pie because it was so good, and my peanut butter chocolate pie was NUTS! it was like a piece of peanut butter fudge from gatlinburg, tennessee slopped onto a piece of chocolate pie. wow.
go to stinky's!!!! we came back for lunch the day after - which also ruled - and steven, our server, was there with the awesome service to go with.
this spot gets super busy but it was way worth it. only con was a farty bartender who was rude to my mother when she picked up her pie the next day. so go away, mean bartender man! you're not good enough for stinky's!
Came on a late Monday afternoon with the parents, in-laws, and hubs. Â My MIL and I had received numerous suggestions from folks to get to Stinky's!
The crawfish hushpuppies and their dipping sauce were the menu highlight for me. Â I would definitely get these again! Â We also ordered the crab squash gratin appetizer, which, while really tasty, was super rich for me. Â I only ate a small bite of it and was very satisfied.
I ordered the $11 lunch combo of grilled grouper po' boy and a bowl of gumbo. Â My bowl of gumbo was massive, excellently spiced, super tasty, and FULL of meat. Â However, my grouper fillet was teeny (i.e. smaller than a kids portion!). Â It didn't even take up half the bread of my po' boy. Â I used the remaining bread to dip into my gumbo. Â I wasn't that hungry but I can imagine that someone would be very disappointed in the portion size.
In addition, the po' boy sandwich bread was too hard for my liking (i.e. so hard it scraped the roof of my mouth like cap'n crunch cereal does). Â The flavor of the bread was great. Â I'm not sure if the hard bread could be because we came on a Monday and a fresh shipment had not yet been delivered, but a definite possibility.
The french fries are skinny fries like McDonald's and were quite tasty. Â The seafood bisque was super creamy and also quite rich. Â I don't think I could eat an entire bowl of it, but one spoonful of it satisfied me. Â The same goes for the pressed crab po' boy - extremely rich and flavorful, but would have been too much for me as entire meal.
There is a nice beer selection and wine listing, in addition to specialty cocktails. Â I think there are more draft beers here than anywhere else in the area.
Wait staff were friendly, personable, and quick to bring our food. Â A massive TV was a primary feature of the main dining room (albeit framed nicely), which is a pet peeve of mine (keep TVs in the bar!!!), especially in a restaurant that has as beautiful views as this one.
All in all, our party of 6 found Stinky's to be a delightful lunch! Â When we drove back by around 5:30pm, the parking lot was packed (on a Monday! Â in April!) and there appeared to be a valet at work to help with the overflow. Â Just keep this in mind if you're planning to come at dinner!
After  an excellent lunch, I just added Stinky's to my short list of Destin area restaurants I'm able to recommend.  This area features an overabundance of severely overpriced tourist traps, usually offering nothing worthwhile but a view. (Bonefish Grill and La Famiglia are two others on my go-to list) I digress...
Took a break from Thanksgiving meal prep with some visiting family, and decided to give Stinky's a try.
In short, every dish was delicious. I ordered the soup/po-boy combination, opting for the seafood chowder and andouille sandwich. The chowder was creamy, but not over the top, and full of fish, seafood, and potatoes.Excellent, and the "cup" was a huge portion. The house-made andouille, served with caramelized onions and melted provolone with mustard, on a New Orleans style roll, was delicious. The sausage was lean and slightly spicy, and the bread was fresh and surprisingly light.
Everyone enjoyed their food--chicken and andouille gumbo, buffalo shrimp sandwich, fried amberjack, papaya slaw, and the lentil soup of the day.
Our server was terrific--very knowledgeable and accommodating. A previous review stated Stinky's will offer to do just about anything you like, and we found this to be the case as well.
Sadly, we did not have room for the key lime pie, but the table next to ours ate theirs enthusiastically and provided an unsolicited recommendation.
Lunch prices are quite reasonable, particularly for the area. The dinner menu looked great, and included a nice selection of draft beers. The oyster offerings were also very interesting.
Overall, a very pleasant experience--I'm looking forward to the next visit.
First, don't follow the yelp map. Â It's on the other end of the island from the flagged location. Â Just east of the west intersection of 30A and 98.
Second, if your a couple don't take a seat upstairs. Â There are 3 tables for large parties. Â It gets noisy, and you kind of get lost in the shuffle.
All that aside, the place was great, generally good service and food. Â I had the taste of Stinky's and the fish and crawfish pie was outstanding, the crabcake as a little soft for my taste, but may be just me.
I'll certainly go again. Â Be prepared for a wait. Â It took about an hour to be seated.
My family comes to Grayton Beach for a week every summer, and Stinky's is by far our favorite restaurant in the area. The atmosphere is kid friendly and the food is delicious.
I recommend going with one of the specials as they are invariably awesome. Last time, I had grouper on some sort of a corn cake with an amazing broth. I came very close to licking out the bowl, the broth was that good.
There aren't tons of vegetarian options, but the chef will put together something for you if you are a vegetarian. My sister had some sort of stir fried vegetable dish full of seasonal, fresh veggies.
They have a good beer selection and a nice wine list to boot. I absolutely love Stinky's and look forward to it every year.
We have been going to Destin for over 20 years. Â This year, Stinky's took over the top restaurant spot for us. Â We stumbled by it on the second day and were back for our last night. Â Great food!
The first trip, I had the fish stew (various sea food including crab legs, potatoes and veggies in a fish stock). Â Cracking the crab legs made it a bit messy, but the stew was great. Â It had a small seafood salad sandwich along side and I asked for more bread to dip in the stew. Â Quite good, but you will stain your clothes. Â Second trip I had the recommended Fish of the day, Blackened Snapper with grits and a seafood stew type thing. Â The Blackened Snapper was done right, fresh and tasty.
I had a lettuce wedge both nights and would get it again, but that's not very useful. Â I love lettuce wages. Â It was among the better I have had. Â The second night our group (4) shared the bar-b-que shrimp appetizer. Â Bit mistake. Â It was very, very good and there was not enough shrimp causing a small skirmish. Â Next time I will get my own and defend it from poachers with a large club. Â They also served a small cup of a red bean and butter dip with crackers. Â That was always finished and a nice early treat.
Others in our group had... Crab legs (excellent), Triple Tail (fish good), Crawfish pie (excellent and rich). Â Our youngest had noodles and cheese (good).
The beer was cold with a good selection. Â The other drinks were good also. Â The server provided excellent service and earned a bonus tip both nights. Â The Valet parking is free, but the guy ran to keep up so he earned a good tip too.
Only downside, the place is small and I can see there being long waits when the crowds return to the area after the BP Oil disaster is out of the news.
Highly recommended, and as said above, our current Destin area fav!
After the absolutely abysmal experience with the valet gang (c'mon guys, I think I can park my own car) I was close to giving this place just 1 star, but I'm holding out hope that they've since fired these HS dropouts and improved the overall exp. Not to pile on here, but these guys left our car (and several others) running for like 20 min after we arrived...in a parking spot...with the AC running (natch). We eventually walked over and turned them off - it was like an exercise in anti-environmentalism- and right after their precious gulf was filling up with oil...the irony was lost on them.
Oh, right, the food.
It was pretty basic stuff - nothing to write home about. Many items were lacking flavor and the oysters were a bit on the small side for the price.
Our server was nice enough, but certainly didn't seem to offer any recommendations that didn't seem heavily swayed by price.
Bottom line, I won't be back. But if you happen to be staying across the street, it may be worth the walk.
Stinky's came highly recommended and was less than a mile from our rental house. Â We stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon in May; the restaurant was not busy. Â
I was excited about the po-boys; seeing 'debris' on the menu and all of the legit New Orleans references on the walls made me really hopeful. Â I ordered the NOLA -- wet roast beef, ham, provolone. Â My sandwich was pretty good, I'd give it 4 stars for being a legit new orleans po-boy. Â It's not Mothers good, but it at least understood what it was aiming for.
Others in the party had a fish basket, shrimp po-boy and a pulled pork sandwich. Â Everything looked ok but no one found it spectacular or amazing. Â The shrimp po-boy was dressed properly, but was pretty sparse with small fried shrimp. Â
It looks like Stinky's had recently moved to a new building next to the original location. Â New location was very clean, had a nice view onto the lake, comfortable.... but at least for a slow lunch, didn't have much atmosphere. Â I felt like I was eating in a Chili's -- didn't see much passion or interest, and I was expecting more based on what I've heard. Â Â We drove by during dinner service and the place was packed -- so maybe it's a different scene when the restaurant is busy. Â Again, no real complaints about the food and the NOLA po-boy was pretty darn good -- just didn't wow me like I expected based on recommendations.
