This pizza is very yummy and I was pleasantly surprised because I am a pizza snob. I was very pleased! Their wings while very flavorful were burnt in some areas, but it just may have been the ones I had. I want to come back and try some of their specialty pizzas and some more wings so I can bump this place up to a 4. :)
Review Source:The Fireplace always intrigued me the many times I walked by it in Southington Center. Â Last week I finally took the opportunity to visit. Â And I'll tell you that this kitchen is doing great work.
Wood fired pizza is what most people think of when they hear of this place and rightly so. Â They have a lot of diverse choices on the menu or you can create your own. Â
I chose a sausage and salami red pie and it was excellent. Â The toppings were generous and you could really taste the wood fired influence of the oven. The crust was a great balance of crunch and chew. So yeah, order a pizza.
But what puts this place over the top are their wings. They do them differently than what I'm used to seeing in wing preparation.
Instead of deep frying them, Fireplace smokes them in their pizza ovens and what a difference that makes!
I'd never had wings prepared this way before and now I think they are in the top five I've ever had. Â Wood firing these things makes the meat just fall off the bone tender when you attack the plate. Â And the honey BBQ sauce they use for their smoke wings is awesome. Â I know this because I never order honey BBQ but just felt like something not spicy on this day.
The balance of sweet, tangy and smoky truly makes these wings unique. Â Now I need to try their spicy wings to see how they stack up. Â
So I came here for pizza and wound up with some of the best wings ever. Â Not a bad deal if you ask me.
