I ate at one of these near Tucson, AZ a couple of weeks ago and feel in love. I had a Corned Beef on honey wheat! Wow was it good. The day I flew back to Indy, I took my wife to the location in front of Wal Mart on Emerson near I-465.
She loved it too! It isn't that expensive and really, really good. The meat is hot and the bread is fresh. This is a great change of pace to Subway and so much better!
Plus, they have this super cook coke machine that mixes you soft drink anyway you want it. Almost takes a week long course to figure out how to operate it.
Wonderful for quick lunches or supper with one or a dozen!
I am crazy about the firehouse subs. Every single one that I've tried, I've absolutely loved. This is about the perfect place, other than a sports bar, to go on a Saturday for lunch and catch a little of a college football game while you eat. I have been here many times and still don't have a single complaint about the place. Try it for yourself.
Review Source:I have eaten here twice and I don't think I will be back. The subs are no better or worse than any other sub place. The wait is unacceptably long. Most recently I was here on a Sunday after the lunch rush and we waited over 10 minutes. Not terrible but they aren't slicing meats or cheeses fresh so the delay is unwarranted. Worst of all there were 8-10 people working. I hate the term "meh" but it fits this sub place.
Review Source:My parents suggested that we try Beech Grove's newest sub shop. Â Firehouse Subs has great selection of hot, submarine style sandwiches featuring an array of meats, cheese, and condiments. Â They have combos available with your choice of chip flavors and a freestyle coke machine (I suggest vanilla-cherry Dr. Pepper).
The place is very clean with a great firehouse theme and the staff is exceptionally friendly. Â If you're looking for a quick, tasty meal, then look no further.
Went with my husband for lunch today- he's been dying to try this place after hearing their radio ads! He had the beef brisket & cheddar and I had the Italian. Two options for bread, white or wheat, and two options for sizes - 8 inch or 12 inch. My husband had the 12 inch and said if he did it again, he'd get double meat on the 8 inch - the meat was great, there just wasn't enough for him. I had a taste- very tender & flavorful! I liked mine, I kept it with the same toppings that come on it but said no to the spicy mustard - I figured Italian dressing & mayo was enough. My mistake. It was little too sweet for my liking so I went to get the banana peppers to add to it after I took a couple bites. That did the trick.
Two things I liked: you get a pickle with every sandwich and they have one of the fancy "Freestyle" computerized coke machines. I've never used one before and it was kind of fun! You can add a flavor to any kind of drink, so you can have Strawberry Sprite Zero for example. Or Cherry Vanilla Coke Zero. I would definitely return for the drinks, I loved the strawberry lemonade!
The only negative for us was the chip selection. They had Sunships, some Lays and Mrs Vickers but no BBQ flavored chips for my husband and no salt & vinegar chips for me. :( But we were full without chips so not that big of a deal I guess... I will just go to Jimmy John's when I need delicious chips to go with my sandwich! :)
I wasn't really impressed. My mom loves it, but it's nothing to go crazy about. The first time I got a vegetarian. It was good. My sister got chicken. She said it was only okay. The second time and probably one of the last I got the vegetarian again. It was soggy and mediocre. The second time my sister order a chicken again but they didn't have any so she got turkey. She ordered  it with no mayonnaise and cheese, but they gave her everything on it.  My mom got a steak and cheese and she enjoyed it. She always keeps asking us if we want to go back, but we prefer not to.
