Went with some friends and co-workers last night. Â Place was empty, so we should've had superb service. Â Bartender and waitress were the same person, and she was bloody awful. Â She took forever entering items into the system, she never asked anyone if they needed anything when walking by. Â She didn't take the plates away when the food was cold and disgusting. Â The food was very average. Â I was most unimpressed with the fact that this is one of those places without a doubt that waters down their vodka. Â I have barely drank in 2 years....I didn't go out with intent of getting drunk by any means, but if I wanted to, I wouldn't have succeeded. Â :) Â I had six drinks in three hours... the vodka was 1/3 of the glass... I left without even a slight buzz. Â Same with most of our group... drinking vodka and at least four drinks each. Â We were very unimpressed, and quite irritated... it's been a very long time since I've experienced the alcohol dilution. Â None of us will return.
Review Source:We've lived in Geneva for 3 years, but we just recently started going to Flagstone. Â In general, pretty good bar food and a great place to catch the game on a Sunday afternoon with a beer. Â
Burgers are great and cooked on a very well-seasoned grill - probably my favorite thing on their menu. Â We've had a few hits and a few misses otherwise, but we really like the location and casual atmosphere enough that we keep going back in spite of the occasional just ok meal. Â And even the misses aren't bad. Â Service isn't over the top great, but its what I expect at a bar and grille - its never been subpar in my opinion.
And they are open later than many Geneva establishments serving food!
The good:
Killer beer menu
Delicious nachos
cool atmosphere
The bad:
OK food aside from the nachos
The ugly:
Poor service
So we went here on a double date after a disastrous 40 minute wait at the Mexican restaurant across the street that left us hungry and cranky.
We wanted nachos, so we got nachos. They were delightful. The beer was amazing. A huge beer list full of joy and hope and happiness. Everything I look for in a beer menu. It made me happy.
The decor was simple with an open layout. I was a fan.
The rest of the food was okay, but nothing to really write home about.
We were, unfortunately, provided with a server who knew very little about anything. When you have a beer menu as extensive as this, you need to have a server who knows her beer.
I like my beer dark and devious...so I ordered an imperial stout. Which was given to me with a frosty pint glass. Anyone who knows beer, would have done this: I asked for an un-chilled glass, preferably a snifter. Not only did she not know what a snifter was, she sent the bartender over with a bitchy attitude to say that all she had were pint glasses or short glasses. I took the short glass. And I was over the place.
Our server was nice enough, but made several of those tiny errors that get under your skin after you've had a bitchy bartender experience at a place.
Maybe it was a bad night. Maybe she was new. Maybe it was just one of those things. But with as many other bars that have extensive beer menus as there are, I don't foresee myself returning any time soon.
Love the craft beer selections! Â Great bar/restaurant in an historic building in Geneva. Â Although the outside is historic and charming the interior has a modern touch that is lively and fun. Â
I had the Baja Fish Sliders with homemade salsa that was delicious. Â Will definitely come back again.
This isn't my type of place. Â The food is barfood and just, ok. Nothing special. There's nothing on the menu that I'm like YES, that is so good! However, if your looking for a place to hang out with a friend, this might be a fun place.... Their appetizers aren't bad primarily because they give such huge portions.
The place is PACKED on Fridays for the fish fry which is pretty good. (Still not stellar).
I'm not into live music (at all) which they often feature. Â The crowd is typically rather blah.. the bar shuts down really early and I think it's because most people would rather bar hop in St. Charles. Â If you are looking to come here, I suggest coming here on Thursday for open mic night (that draws in a good crowd). They also have half priced apps that night (AWESOME) or for a late dinner before you bounce off to St. Charles.
Limited beer selection on draft, bartender looked like she was either upset with the customers sitting at the bar, or maybe just upset in general. No real interaction, other than to ask what we wanted to drink. No suggestions, no offer of a menu, zippo.
Too bad, because we like the service and ambiance in the older Little Owl pub attached to this place. I'm guessing this place is more for the late night shot crowd and less for the sit around and watch TV while you eat a good burger crowd.
Went here last weekend for a couple of drinks and had the BEST time!! Â The service was great! Â Although we only went for a few drinks, we ended up staying much longer because of a fantastic band that was playing there. Â It was excellent! Â A Neil Diamond impersonator... Â Would definitely go back to see that band again!
Review Source:I come here to hang out with friends I grew up with when I lived in Geneva. The Little Owl has been around for ages, and I was glad to see they expanded a few years back since the Little Owl has more of an older crowd vibe to it, whereas Flagstone is more for a younger scene. They have an extensive amount of liquor and pretty good beer choices. I had the Bells Stout and Goose Island Matilda, both of which you won't find everywhere. Prices are reasonable. The biggest complaint I have about this place is the service. The two female bartenders that are there pretty much every time I end up at this place do not make it easy to spend money. They look like they hate their job (which they probably do), but that's not my problem. Their manager seriously needs to talk to them about putting on their "game face" because it's borderline arrogant the way they work the bar. Â They had live music playing and the guy was actually pretty good. It's sad to see such a nice place only deserve 3 stars simply because of their service. Fire the two bartenders and get some people that actually want to be there and help. I would have tipped a lot more had the girls had a smile on their face.
Review Source:This was a good addition to the Little Owl. It adds more room and now has an area that entertains not just your older crowd townies. With a little music and some T.V.s for the games and a pool table, helps attract a much wider range of customers. The food is your everyday Pub food and it can get happening for night life too. When it's summer and the kids are out of school it can get filled up quick. Nice selection of beers & spirits as well as very friendly service.
Review Source:This place got me pretty buzzed, on the cheap, and had stellar service.
They must have 15 different kinds of vodkas and lots of specials so I took advantage and got grape vodka and soda... and then got another one too. It was delicious and our server was great with making sure we always had something (with alcohol to drink). I also got their ranch fries as a filler and though they were good, they took FOREVER to come out and the place was not busy at all.
If I didn't live so far from here, I would totally come back. I'd imagine this is a great place for guys who like to watch sports, drink, play pool, and get served by pretty ladies.
